So, 'fall in' in military command, means 'stand in a people-box in front of me with perfect posture' Not 'Get ready to murder the enemy' Just a small bit of knowledge.

He loads the first round by racking the slide.* He shoots 7 shots. He puts in a new magazine of 8 rounds. He racks the slide to ensure that he has a round in the chamber.* The live round he tried ejected by hand jams in the ejection port. You manually rack the slide every time before you get ready to fire - as it would be better to waste a single live round then be caught without a round in the chamber. *Ocelot tried the technique twice and on the second time it caused the Makarov to jam due to a failure to eject (FTE). Ocelot does not load any bullet through the ejection port manually to get 8+1 in the Makarov.
2:32, A casing *is* ejected. The logic is that, initially loaded or not, when you pull the slide you're at least _sure_ that now it's loaded. Which is what makes Ocelot look especially incompetent in this scene, because either: a) Snake noticed Ocelot using a technique he did not fully understand, or b) Snake took out a firearm user who wasn't sure his weapon was loaded when he entered a combat zone.
He meant that Ocelot took the risk to get the bullet stuck in the ejection port. When you load a new magazine on a standard gun, you must pull the slide before you shoot. What happened to Ocelot was that he had 1 bullet remaining from the last magazine he used and put another, Makarov gun can only bring 8 bullets inside and without pulling the slide it makes 9 so it basically got stuck in the ejection port due to lack of space in the gun.
I love how Ocelot takes all of his advise to heart and tries to best Snake every chance he can. He invites the challenge, but he also respects and comes to admire him. Who to thought such a beginning would eventually spark an everlasting friendship between the two.

Those other guys just seem completely braindead: they just stare at snake and at no point in the vid do they even try to fight back or escape holds. That one guy starts shooting his gun in the air from being grabbed from behind with a knife in the back of his neck, i.e. he panicked and lost it so easily. The guy snake used as a shield could've gotten away by just diving or ducking or anything while snake focused on his buddy. Said buddy could've just shot snake, snake's whole upper body was unshielded. Some elite unit...
That's actually fairly logical since Snake uses one of them as a shield the entire time. They're afraid of shooting their comrade so they try to engage in close combat instead where Snake has the advantage. He first grabs Ocelot himself which causes the entire unit to freeze. I always got the feeling like the one who shoots in the air isn't panicking, I mean he isn't saying or shouting anything. Also, the fact that a comrade is shooting them makes them wonder about it even for a few seconds, enough to give Ocelot the chance to kill them. However the soldier that was afraid and tried to hide behind cover, had a chance to shoot Ocelot and a huge percentage of hitting him when Ocelot spins the Makarov before he makes the ricochet shot. J99 Putting speed aside, it's also risky to shoot at the enemy when the high commander (let alone an ally) is close by and could be hit. The meow is so delightfully ridiculous. I cry laughing every time I get to this part. Funnily enough, I just realized Ocelot is voiced by Josh Keaton, who plays Shiro in Voltron Legendary Defender. Neat!
One of the Virtuous Mission's objectives was to avoid contact with the enemy entirely, albeit if it could be helped. Realistically, since that objective went down in flames at this point, there wasn't really an incentive for Snake to keep being non-lethal. Leaving an enemy alive is a risk, though I suppose his lack of a lethal firearm justifies his use of pacifist methods here.
Snake: "You're pretty good" Ocelot: "Yeah? You think I'm a great gunslinger?" Snake: "No kid, I"m talking about your meow. You really sound like an actual cat!" Ocelot: "What? It's an ocelot, you damn fool"!

Victor Kruger Also see the receptions. The whole critics and players said that the control system is difficult, but it is forgiven. The original MGS3 also has the problem with the camera, but Kojima stated that it was like a trilogy (MGS, MGS2 and MGS3).
The thing I love about this encounter is how despite the humiliation, Ocelot took.Big Boss's advice wholeheartedly and with full intent on making Big Boss eat his words
Every foolish thing that Ocelot does in MGS3 makes no sense once it is revealed that he is ADAM, the American double agent. It's very suspicious that he: 1. Does not know that the Middle Eastern technique will jam his gun. Especially when he's about to "kill" Snake. 2. Does not know a revolver holds only six rounds. Again he fails to "kill" Snake when he fires off six shots rapidly while holding Eva hostage. 3. Plays revolver juggling roulette with Tatyana (who is Eva in disguise). He probably wanted to kill his rival spy under the guise of playing roulette? 4. Insists that Volgin fight Snake like a man, instead of simply shooting him. 5. Gets his ass kicked in hand-to-hand combat with Snake at first, then claims to "pick up a few new moves" later when he evenly fights him barehanded on the plane. 6. In the plane when Ocelot again plays gun roulette with Snake, the bullet is revealed to be a blank. Meaning he never really wanted to kill him?
@@ReonMagnum pretty old comment i know, but i wanted to send in my two cents on this matter. Overview:just because he was a double agent dosent mean he was already a professional on this job. he probably was at this point doing one of his first missions as a double agent. and like any soldier or like any person in a job, you will learn and grow overtime. 1.he learned about a technique, used to always have an active bullet in a chamber of a pistol. however, he only recently learned it and wanted to show off, he was "testing" (meaning trying it, not the first time hes done it, but not used to it) the techniqe and it jammed his gun. mistakes can and will be made. 2.he was accustomed to a gun that holds 8 shots. he was used to being able to fire 8 shots, not 6. he wasnt paying attention to his ammo count in the revolver, and was going by feel/habit. 3. he likes to mess around with people. also, being a spy himself and all the clues he kept picking up, he probably wanted to kill a spy who was going after his goal as well. but killing off a spy for no reason would give away being a spy, obviously, so that was his motive to do roulette. 4.he didnt respect volgan as a man, or as his superior, but again if you are a spy and you attack your ally, your gonna be called out. remember, he was acting as part of GRU, not some secret organization. 5.yes, being a new soldier, or being a soldier with some amount of training, you tend to get your ass kicked. especially with a new type of fighting style not seen in any kind of country or practice. and by fighting and watching him fight the boss, he starts to learn it on his own. 6.with the boss dead, and the philosophers legacy in possesion, he has no need to kill snake. he sees him as someone he looks up to, as well as probably his crush. however, he still wanted a thrill of battle with snake. "one last show down" to see who comes out on top. who ever fired the blank won. (something that confuses me is when you aim away and shoot, the blank actually fires as a bullet. so, bullets turn to blanks when fired at people, apparently??) this was just my two cents of it all. i honestly appreciate the brain food, i love disecting and explaining my passions. thanks for the interesting comment!
"Leave him. Shoot the other one!" I finally understand that was miscommunication on the unit's part. Which explains why they didn't fire at Snake and thought Ocelot meant to leave Snake alone and shoot Sokolov.
The way Metal Gear introduces its characters, my god. 2:15 That guitar riff and *Ocelot (Josh Keaton)* , just...only this saga can make these little things work.
Middle Eastern technique where you reflexively rack the slide to make sure there is a round in the chamber, despite it already being loaded, Ocelot causes a stovepipe (failure to feed) jam. With the gun failing to go into battery, Snake ambushes him with CQC and subdues him easily.
Oh my goodness. Of course I start playing MGSV and Ocelot teaches one of the recruits about the recoil, and it harkens back to this scene of first meeting Ocelot. I love the callbacks.
Ocelot is adorable how he tries to show off omfg normally I find show offs annoying, maybe because he failed at it, but I think he's cute for it. Like a little kid showing a teenage girl cool stuff to impress her or something.
This scene is really set up expertly... you see the potential of Ocelot as he effortlessly takes out what seems like slut russian soilders, who are surprised by him. This sets up that the GRU is special and Ocelot is an elite soilder, so special in fact that theyblaugh at Snake. He then takes out all the GRU and their leader pretty much effortlessly, and calls the once seemingly elite solider , who was just bult up to be an amazing solider compared to his comrades, pretty good, perfectly building up how good Snake really is compared to elite soliders.
It gets even better when you realize that ocelot is actually agent ADAM. Although he had no idea who EVA was though. Although by the time he found out it was far too late.
Snake didn't shoot the second guy when he had him at gunpoint because he didn't get the chance to rack the slide, since it had to be manually operated because of the ammo and to minimize noise.
@@Soup-man I guess you haven't played Twin Snakes. It was a nintendo gamecube exclusive, and a remake of psx metal gear solid, with graphic engine of MGS2. That's the one version of Snake is licensed to appear as nintendo owns/shares a license for it.

He doesn't know CQC but he's trying to act like he's able to defend himself. He's also unarmed and not trained in any military whatsoever, so he has no idea of how to be stealthy, where to stay in cover, and how to defend himself. So I imagine he's trying to mimic what he thinks he saw of CQC from what little he's seen out of Snake and how he's going about the situation.
My favorite part about this scene is they introduce Ocelot as this quick shot badass who kills these special forces guy before either react but then immediately have Snake come in and make him look like a bitch.
Just to pre-empt this, I was very much in the mood for this dumb bit- Boss: Yes, I thought so, this damn Makarov again. I've told you about this before. You tell him. *For the last time.* Snake: Nice and light, in a lady's handbag. No stopping power. Boss: Any comments, Ocelot? Ocelot: I disagree, ma'am. I've used a Makarov for ten years and I haven't missed with it yet. Snake: Yeah maybe not, but it jammed on you with your fancy technique and my rebuttal made you spend six months in a hospital in consequence. Zero: The man has a license to kill, not get killed. Snake: ...Don't bring up that double-oh seven crap, I'm having a serious conversation here. Zero: Wait but that's exactly what you were-
So this means that at 4:40 we see Ocelot saying "then die" as he racks the slide and then pulls the trigger in a very quick succession, except this time he did it without success. Due to camera angles covering Ocelot's gun (it's blocked by Snake's shoulder) only his left arm movement and his fingers as he raises his arm reveal he had tried the same move as before
Ocelot: Tell me American, is it true that in capitalist America it is legal to have sex with a horse? Snake: Just in the state of Washington. Ocelot: What?!

It’s weird too cause he’s a double agent and his name is Adam. "6 Shots, a revolver has only 6 shots, the Makarov has 8, You have to get a feel for how many shots you have left" - he says he has '12' shots now (2 revolvers, and he keeps count of how many shots hes got after each bullet used)
"This is a high class gun, its not meant for shooting people" - he never used the same revolver in the second encounter again because of aforementioned lessons
I didint recall the last one
And that's also show that he workship Big Boss.
I'm pretty sure the gun spinning would count as showing off, at least in my opinion.
Tactical Knowledge Much tactical knowledge.
Briar Mason I think he meant like tactically showing off, like with the Makarov.
The meow is so delightfully ridiculous. I cry laughing every time I get to this part.
Funnily enough, I just realized Ocelot is voiced by Josh Keaton, who plays Shiro in Voltron Legendary Defender. Neat!
Also Young Hercules from Disney Hercules and Peter Parker/Spider-Man from The Spectacular Spider-Man.
Josh Keaton is one of my favorite voice actors. I automatically recognize him.
And nigel the ex-stockcar driver in fancy nancy le man racing legends phoenix or mobius friends
And Spectacular Spider-Man as well.
In keeping with a non lethal run, snake doesn't kill a single person here.
Yeah, the only real deaths are from bosses.
And they basically kill themselfes to avoid being captured, so essentially Big Boss only killed one person in the entire game
Except in the codec call where he apologizes for killing everyone, even in a ghost run
One of the Virtuous Mission's objectives was to avoid contact with the enemy entirely, albeit if it could be helped. Realistically, since that objective went down in flames at this point, there wasn't really an incentive for Snake to keep being non-lethal. Leaving an enemy alive is a risk, though I suppose his lack of a lethal firearm justifies his use of pacifist methods here.
ocelot mentioned snakes quote in phantom pain regarding the use of the handgun.
factura5 of course, He idolized Snake since they met
“But, that was some fancy shooting.
Pretty good.”
Metal Gear?
Wan Shahmin ....no dude, Mario party.
Didn't get to play that one. Sweet feeling to know that though.
Snake: "You're pretty good"
Ocelot: "Yeah? You think I'm a great gunslinger?"
Snake: "No kid, I"m talking about your meow. You really sound like an actual cat!"
Ocelot: "What? It's an ocelot, you damn fool"!
And that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
The meow always kills me
4:21 I love how Ocelot just starts trashing him and all his sibordinates laugh, it's like Ocelot is the leader of a bunch of high school bullies, and they're making fun of a kkd for being poor

Thus, Revolver Ocelot was born.
No shit
big crunch no longer Automatic Ocelot
and I’m sad to say I am not the creator of this joke
@@alexsung3117 And wasn’t it “Makarov Ocelot”?
i honestly think mgs3 is the best in the series, because of its story of how the metal gear saga all started. also the game play controls are amazing
Exactly
Sorry but the gameplay controls suck in MGS3
Oni Killer shut up.
Victor Kruger Well, actually the control system is very hard. That is why it sucks. But the story, characters and others are good.
Little does he know, this guy will be his most loyal follower.
4:03 jesus I almost spit my drink out lol
Ocelot killing all those men was a moot point; they all would have died of laughter anyway if they witnessed that.
One of the best games ever made. So glad I was a part of this generation. True gaming.
MGS3 cutscenes are never old.
I love this game. Even the non interactive cutscenes have so many details you can just keep rewatching. The stunts and motion capture are amazing
14 years later, I'm left wondering whether Ocelot purposely jammed his gun or not, considering his ulterior motives.
Every foolish thing that Ocelot does in MGS3 makes no sense once it is revealed that he is ADAM, the American double agent.
It's very suspicious that he:
ReonMagnum holy shit. I played this game god knows how many times and never made that connection! Nice lol
Ocelot probably didn't know who Snake was during Virtuous Mission and that's why tried to kill him here.
(something that confuses me is when you aim away and shoot, the blank actually fires as a bullet. so, bullets turn to blanks when fired at people, apparently??)
this was just my two cents of it all. i honestly appreciate the brain food, i love disecting and explaining my passions. thanks for the interesting comment!
And risking being killed totally, failing his mission?
I don't think so.
Ocelot is pretty good, but doesn't have a crystal ball.
"Leave him. Shoot the other one!"
I finally understand that was miscommunication on the unit's part. Which explains why they didn't fire at Snake and thought Ocelot meant to leave Snake alone and shoot Sokolov.
this makes me wanna play mgs3 again
*You're pretty good!*
Sokolov try to remember the basics of cqc
2:22
Ocelot: An ocelot never lets his prey escape.
*Things are about to get GRUesome*
"What?"
Big Boss: (oh snap, gotta take cover)
2:25 until this very day, the most honest confusion I have ever seen in a videogame
and this is just one game after "A dud?!"
Snake: Ocelot , say something
Ocelot: NYAN~
Oh my goodness. Of course I start playing MGSV and Ocelot teaches one of the recruits about the recoil, and it harkens back to this scene of first meeting Ocelot. I love the callbacks.
The motion blur in this game was pretty good!
Pretty...... good......
Very important for 30 FPS though. Else it looks like laggy mess.
@B B lowkey i think thats what i like about the game
Ocelot is adorable how he tries to show off omfg normally I find show offs annoying, maybe because he failed at it, but I think he's cute for it. Like a little kid showing a teenage girl cool stuff to impress her or something.
2:58 when the teacher ask about homework and looks in your direction
My cat reacts to ocelot meowing lol
Man that cutscene still get me on the goosebumps, remembering about that everything iniciatate in there.
Watching it again, Ocelot recognizes The Boss stance when he glares at Snake before the meow! Ocelot actually is pretty good indeed!!
This moment, everything starts here......
Ocelot is such a great character... Seeing him being practically instructed by Jack is so cool when we remember his meetings with his clones
Ocelot is just so cool and fun all of the time that it's easy to forget about how casually he kills people.
first time i see 60 frames on youtube! with a mgs video!! AWESOME!!!
3:02 John Wick 3 Ending in a nutshell.
kek
The soldier saying “what?” Was probably the only time someone was about to question the silliness of it all
It gets even better when you realize that ocelot is actually agent ADAM. Although he had no idea who EVA was though. Although by the time he found out it was far too late.
That was some fancy shooting.... You're pretty good.
Robert Giancarlo Pretty good ...
at 3:43 Ocelot is like
"Come at me, bro"
Also kinda looks like the "well, what is it?" gesture from Dark Souls.
ParmesanCheese Agree. First, when I saw this move, I thought that he wants to Snake hug him.
as a third grader this was literally the coolest shit ever when i first saw this scene
If you think about it, ocelot has aged pretty well
Snake didn't shoot the second guy when he had him at gunpoint because he didn't get the chance to rack the slide, since it had to be manually operated because of the ammo and to minimize noise.

Damn good looking game for the PS2
And that's supposed to mean something?!
It also came out on PS3
This was like evo moment 37, as Snake parries and counters everything. 2004, what a year.
Maybe that's why he was put in Smash
@@Soup-man it's not Naked Snake in Smash. It's his "son", Solid Snake. Hard to tell who's more badass.
@@salvatorevetro1743 I think it's a mixture of the two, it has Solid's outfit from 2, and Naked's body from the 3
@@Soup-man I guess you haven't played Twin Snakes. It was a nintendo gamecube exclusive, and a remake of psx metal gear solid, with graphic engine of MGS2. That's the one version of Snake is licensed to appear as nintendo owns/shares a license for it.
@@salvatorevetro1743 I've played a bit of it on Dolphin. Nintendo co developed it, but Konami still owns Snake and Metal Gear as a whole unfortunately.
Snake eater is quite possibly one of the best Metal Gears ever made!
Sokolov looking like Prometheus before he throws the trash can at 2:27
i feel bad for those spetsnaz in 1:01 they probably pretty high skill (able to sneak up on the boss) but ocelot take them out by surprise when they he is on their side
6:49 from that moment it changed his live till outer haven tragedy
00:32 To this day I still don't understand what the hell Sokolov is trying to do here
He doesn't know CQC but he's trying to act like he's able to defend himself.
One of my favorite scenes from MGS3 as well as one of my favorite scenes with Ocelot too.
ITS HIGH NOON
Generic white kid the second I thought I was the only one who thought of Ocelot as McCree- Guess not lmao-- Bless,,,,

"Shoot the other one"
Guards: *proceed to engage snake in hand-to-hand combat*
We all know why we came back to this vid! Mgs3 remake is coming boys
What a warm welcome
I miss the times when snake wasn't so serious, he used to make me laugh a lot as a kid
Just to pre-empt this, I was very much in the mood for this dumb bit-
Boss: Yes, I thought so, this damn Makarov again. I've told you about this before. You tell him. *For the last time.*
Snake: Nice and light, in a lady's handbag.
Zero: Wait but that's exactly what you were-
No one:
Revolver Ocelot: reeeooaaawwwww
So this means that at 4:40 we see Ocelot saying "then die" as he racks the slide and then pulls the trigger in a very quick succession, except this time he did it without success.
Due to camera angles covering Ocelot's gun (it's blocked by Snake's shoulder) only his left arm movement and his fingers as he raises his arm reveal he had tried the same move as before
I wish MGS3 would get a remake, Dev point would be a more than a good candidate for that.
you got it

Ocelot, who is a Major, a high ranking officer at such a young age, still decides to try out tactics he’s only heard about in a high-stakes situation
Soviet union in a nutshell?
Ocelot: Tell me American, is it true that in capitalist America it is legal to have sex with a horse?
Snake: Just in the state of Washington.
Ocelot: What?!
One of my favorite scenes ever in a videogame.
man, this game is such a masterpiece
Ocelot working for Gru?
How despicable!
1:29 I know the bgm for ocelot in the cutscene is called "Ocelot Youth" but I never manage to find the one that plays like it does in this cutscene. It sounds so awesome. If someone knows anything on it, please tell me cuz it's been having me searching on it forever lol
This encounter established Ocelot’s man-crush on Big Boss and ultimately set the stage for MGS4

The start to yet another awesome friendship in gaming.
Funny how it works... Big Boss is fighting the true heir to the the title Boss. Ocelot is The Boss's son for any who doesn't know and The Sorrow is his father.
it'll never not be funny that this super cool deadly spy who can spin his guns meows like a fucking weirdo
It’s weird too cause he’s a double agent and his name is Adam. He is the son of the Boss, and yet is trusted to infiltrate the Soviet Union to Retrieve “The Philosophers legacy.” Also he was Expecting The Boss but instead Meets Naked Snake. Probably The Boss wasn’t ready to see Adam again until she was forced to when they officially worked together. In a way These Two were fated to meet, as those who came the Closest to Realizing The Boss’s will.
This is the scene I played in the Jampack demo that totally blew me away, never saw anything so cool in any other game I had played
