I played Snake Eater numbers of times, even in the PS2 and check the funny looking save thingies in the memory card. But I never seen the MGS3 save file that haves the red flowers.
The only thing I'm okay is the icon because it foreshadow the ending of the game and that's how Snake placed the Patriot and the flowers on The Boss grave, I think it's better to have these icons after beating the game, I think having The Boss bandana as a icon should be okay at the start
This minigame is actually similar to Boktai 2, another Konami game that Kojima worked on. The player character is a vampire hunter with a nemesis who is reminiscent of Count Dracula. You fight with a sword and partway through the game you get infected with vampirism. As a vampire you have the ability to transform into a wolf, and if you attack enemies very aggressively you can go berserk. In a berserker rage, you fly around the room as a giant bat, killing everything and screaming like a man possessed. The drawback was that you couldn't control when a berserker rage happened and lost control of your movements while it lasted. You also lost half your HP, but you could always drink blood or use items to recover. The only warning the game gave you that you were about to lose control was that your character would shudder and groan suddenly during combat. You could either withdraw for a bit and try to calm down, or just swing away and let it happen...
I remember the first time that happened. It terrified me at first. 13 years old playing this late at night, of course but after playing it I wish it was a full game
Imagine when you had a crazy dream last night, then you decide to call Everyone in your phone list to tell them about your dream. Also wolf guy maybe confirmed Snake's real self.
I kinda thought of this as John Does empirical past in fear by the police in a rough city. Thinking that to himself being a knight of swords, graffiti on the walls, and police that are praised for protecting city would be his demise locking him up as a bad person on his suffering. It's a deep metaphor but these extracted things hes seen and felt mixed an emotion of his fears and wants and struggles. Perhaps as in the rough city streets John joined the army to get away.
First time MGS3 player (PS2 emulation), I saved the game in the cell and didn't come back for a week. Imagine my surprise when I returned and saw this.
Since MGS3 is supposed to be the S3 simulation that raiden went through to become a member of Fox-Hound. This was likely raiders nightmare. Which makes this dream make a lot of sense.
@Beats I believe it was of both 1 and 3. If not who was the simulation of 3 for? Because the entirety of 3 is a vr simulation of those events. It wouldn't make sense for Big boss to have a dream like that. But Raidens childhood as Jack the ripper could manifest as this kind of nightmare. Also there is the russian that looks like raiden who you start the game with a disguise of.
@@bobisnotaross I don't think they had that kind of simulation tech at that time. They said that Venom was given Hypnosis and drugs under ocelot to become convinced he's big boss. And raiden would just be being born at that time. So how could he have dreams of this?
Zone of the Enders 3 actually...well, it started as that anyway, but it was cancelled, so they took what was left of it and made it into this nightmare, which was going to become a stand-alone game later down the line, but that got cancelled too.
A part of me feels like this could have been something in the Castlevania Universe, perhaps during the Dracula War in 1999 during the time of Julius Belmont. It feels like Kingdom Hearts and DMC had a baby
Shame this didn't make it to the HD collection. I only ever played this precisely once on the PS2 version and never went back to it since I never had a ready-to-go save available. Then I sold my PS2 and copy of MGS3. Pity.
Sulfuric acid, hallucinogens, after nearly 20 years, I just realized Kojima’s subtle yet genius hint at the possibility of experimenting snake with some soviet version of mk ultra. It all comes full circle.
From what I've read, this game was apparently the remains of a cancelled Zone of the Enders 3 prototype, which was cancelled and moved onto this prototype.
I remember when I first discovered this. I was on my second playthrough. I'd saved and turned the game off after the torture scene and gave it a few days before coming back. When I booted it up and loaded the game and I saw this game, I was freaked out. I had no idea what was going on and turned off the PS2. I ejected the disc to make sure I was playing the right game. It was MGS3, alright. But this game? No idea. I turned it back on, loaded up, and same again. At this point, freaked out, I called my brothers into the room to show them. They didn't understand either. I switched it off, showed them the disc, started again and was back in the nightmare. So my brother said "Well, just play and see what happens." So I did. Eventually it ended and Snake woke up. It was such a surreal moment for me as a gamer. MGS3 is honestly one of my all time favourite games for exactly stuff like this. It was always finding ways to catch me off guard. Such a great game.
Looks like this is doing the algorithm rounds. Thanks for uploading this. I only ever got to play this once back in the day. Since its not on the HD collection; it's nice to see it again in HD and not in '04 capture card potato quality.
I hate how this was removed from the HD Collection of MGS3. This is one of my favorite parts of the game and one of the most interesting parts of the game. Removing this from the HD collection makes Snake mentioning he had a bad dream not make any sense. I wish this had been included in the HD Collection and it would’ve been cool if they made it into a full game.
When I found that scene out the first time I played the game, I was so confused. Took the disc out thinking I put another game in but nope. Miss games like this.
This was a prototype made by a young team at Konami , kojima just included it into the game . There’s no special meaning or secret behind this . I was so confused when I discovered this lol
I tought that prototype could be a demo version of a new 3d castlevania game that konami was develope at the time, but now I lost my hope. maybe since konami doesn't give a sh*t about a video game anymore (well except for PES and mobile game of course)
@@fauzanramadhan9046 Konami released two Castlevania tittles for PS2 , in 2003 (Lament of innocence) and Curse of Darkness (2005) , Metal Gear Solid 3 was launched in 2004. It’s just a company trying to make profit, they made excellent games but sales were too low to keep going.

damn I wish this were an actual game of it's own. it's definitely the type of game that I would love to death, even more if I was like a few years younger
It still impresses me so much how good the English dubs to these games are. Even though a lot of the voices the actors use are cartoony and exaggerated (Snake being one of them) the performances in those voices are so good. They have so much life and chemistry. Even going back to the first game (with voice acting) in 98. Really stands out from most other video game dub voice acting of the era. Big props not only to the actors, but the voice directors and entire localization team. They really did their best, and it shows.
You can just imagine the sort of experience we would've gotten if Kojima had followed through on the "DMC inspired hack-and-slash gorefest with Hellsing and Gungrave aesthetics".
I always wondered if there was a game base in this and I was not surprised because is Konami and it seems very related to CastleVania gameplay style, that gameplay has potential, and they can still make a game base on it.

This scared me so hard as a child because I had a "YARRRRR" version of MGS3 and I played it for the first time at night and I thought that maybe something was wrong with my copy to the point that I started whole game from the beginning...
I played Snake Eater numbers of times, even in the PS2 and check the funny looking save thingies in the memory card. But I never seen the MGS3 save file that haves the red flowers.
ME TOO! :)
Once you start a new game after the first play through you’ll see it :)
The only thing I'm okay is the icon because it foreshadow the ending of the game and that's how Snake placed the Patriot and the flowers on The Boss grave, I think it's better to have these icons after beating the game, I think having The Boss bandana as a icon should be okay at the start
Good grief, the level of detail put into this game is ridiculous!
ridicularly amazing
Yare yare daze
Wait you're actually right, and it's good to see I'm not the only one who remembers the beautiful Boktai trilogy
I remember the first time that happened. It terrified me at first. 13 years old playing this late at night, of course but after playing it I wish it was a full game
I remember when I was 8 years old and got to this part. I was so scared of it that I had to ask my brother to beat it for me
Para-Medic in this game and Cassandra in Soul Calibur saga, have the same voice!
Imagine when you had a crazy dream last night, then you decide to call Everyone in your phone list to tell them about your dream.
Also wolf guy maybe confirmed Snake's real self.
Sigant was amazing. I loved all his codecs. He's awesome
He is wearing The Boss's white outfit the and black jacket is slightly similar to her poncho
I just realized how weird it is that they left you your codec
i remember how confused i was when i first encountered it.
"well, i guess piracy can only take you so far..."
First time MGS3 player (PS2 emulation), I saved the game in the cell and didn't come back for a week. Imagine my surprise when I returned and saw this.
"I was worried I stayed up all night worrying about you for nothing"
Zero is such a mum
The most mind blowing part of the whole thing is the fact that it changes the PS2 Save Icon!!!!!!
Metal Gear Rising concept?
Probably
Wish we had a full game of guy savage 🔥🔥🔥
@Zack Smith lol I guess
I imagine if this bacame a game it would have heavy metal music in the background. But the lack of music makes it creepy.
1:55 To bad Dr Clark was a manic for science she had really good personality back then
Wonder what eventually caused her to eventually do all that horrible crap to Gray Fox decades later? 🤨
This kinda reminds me of Bloodrayne with the whole vampire theme and that style of blades on both arms
I discover this just this year (2020), and it was beatiful because this is One of My top 10 games of All time
Looks like this is doing the algorithm rounds.
Thanks for uploading this. I only ever got to play this once back in the day. Since its not on the HD collection; it's nice to see it again in HD and not in '04 capture card potato quality.
The conversation between Snake and Para-Medic was wholesome
for some reason, it remains me of kingdom heart... nope just me?
You're right. The hilt of his swords kinda looks like the one of a keyblade.
No u are right there.
I never noticed that!!
@@Trutmandias its kinda like that Black and White one from kh2 you know the "old times one"
This gave me weird nightmares as a teen
Of all the years I've played this game
Never once have I found such an Easter egg mini game. Holy fuck
When I found that scene out the first time I played the game, I was so confused. Took the disc out thinking I put another game in but nope. Miss games like this.
Demos are free now
Sadly they removed it in later versions like the HD collection and the 3DS version
Almost forgot about this crazy scene, and ahhh Johnny Senior! Can’t wait to interact with him again in Delta
15:18 The Bipedal Gecko foreshadowing.
1:05 lo and behold, Renfield would finally be turned into a movie in 2023! lol
If I’m not mistaken if you check your memory card on the PS2 menu you can see that the icon for the MGS3 change too after saving on this same place
If this is not an absolute masterpiece of a video game then I don’t know what is…
This was a prototype made by a young team at Konami , kojima just included it into the game .
Actually they’re good games but they were not appreciated , regulars scores from “specialized gaming media” and “low” sales for a PS2 tittle.
Now those games are considered good games it’s not konami fault , and I perfectly understand why they don’t care about video games anymore. It’s just a company trying to make profit, they made excellent games but sales were too low to keep going.
It's like looking at a prototype for a game that doesn't exist
back when they put love in making games
Twas disappointing Konami got rid of this from the HD version.
Man that really sucks
One of the biggest surprises you get in a videogame, I was so fucking confused when I loaded and this showed up
I remember as a kid having a dream about this place, then discovering it for the first time the day after. It was an extremely bizarre thing that I cannot explain.
damn I wish this were an actual game of it's own. it's definitely the type of game that I would love to death, even more if I was like a few years younger
Some people said it was planned to have a full version of this mini-game but it got scrapped which is the reason why the HD version got it removed
Be like Signit, make your dreams into reality
Ok that was a bad example.
Metal Gears
*M a k e y o u r s h i t s i n t o r e a l i t y .*
I always wondered if there was a game base in this and I was not surprised because is Konami and it seems very related to CastleVania gameplay style, that gameplay has potential, and they can still make a game base on it.
