With 2 mins left in the KC game, Josh had the ball with 2 timeouts on the Chiefs 29 yard line. It was a golden opportunity to run the clock to under 1 min, if not run it out, and go for the go-ahead TD. Leave Mahomes with little time and no timeouts, if they get the ball back. In that moment, Josh was NOT clutch!! In that moment, he threw 2 incomplete passes and ran little time off the clock. He went for the home run when all that was needed was a base hit. You know what 15 did in 13 secs. Why the rush to score? If Josh takes the underneath stuff, we are likely having a different conversation.

Totally agree.. Bills had everything they wanted and choked. Typically its the Defense that chokes after offense gives a late lead. In the case, the offense choked. I can't help but think to myself, "that's the difference between a champion and a good player'... Mahomes would have got a TD there and left the Bills with 36 seconds to try to respond

Anyone who says Mahomes was only doing all that work because the cameras were there proves the point of why KC is always there at the end. Anyone who follows KC has seen this happen. He always gets his receivers to come down and spend time together in Texas during the off season and hold their own mini camp. This year was the first time that he ended up working out with a player they hadn't even drafted yet (Rasheed Rice), and that interaction was part of why the Chiefs drafted him. Mahomes had that interaction with him, came back and told the Chiefs that kid was worth looking at. Andy has mentioned in interviews more than once the amount of work Mahomes does on his own. Peyton Manning talks about how much time he spent watching film on his own when he played. The fact is, if your QB isn't doing that, you shouldn't expect your team to beat a team where the QB is that dedicated. Instead of doubting Mahomes, maybe you should be checking out your own QB's habits. I have no idea what Allen does or doesn't do on his own time, as I don't follow the Bills. But if you're suggesting Mahomes was only doing it for the cameras, I'm guessing you don't see that kind of behavior from Allen.

Josh could use some drills to improve his field scan to better pick up on wide open receivers. Even if only 5-7 yards to chip away at the yards.

    • @BillsMafiaExperience
      @BillsMafiaExperience 3 месяца назад +1

Ok the majority of the year the problem was NOT missing "wide open receivers" it was receivers NOT getting open, dropping the ball, tipping ints, and losing on 50/50 balls. Perhaps half of Allen's turnovers weren't even his fault, which is why Allen's turnover worthy play percentage was soo good despite the false narrative he is a turnover machine. The haters never want to delve deeper into all the film. Joe Marino from Locked on Bills explained why we lost to the Chiefs. It was "lack of downfield receiving talent", defensive injuries, special teams blunders and coaching mistakes like the fake punt. If I remember fully correctly. I might've missed one.

I couldn't disagree more! On multiple occasions, since the Jax game, Diggs is WIDE OPEN for the bomb 💣 with no one behind him and Josh under threw him (twice vs. Jax), overthrew him or was way off with his throws. We have to be honest about everything. Some of us have blinders on when it comes to Josh. I don't.
I like Joe Marino. He gives listeners a summary of the All 22. He doesn't break down film live. I think Cover 1 does a much better job on the All 22. Eric and Aaron (I think) run the tape then break the plays down. Check them out.

Once again the Bills proved that they are very much capable of beating KC even with all those injuries on defense. The games between them always come down to the last few plays, the only reason Bills didn't win this time was from dropped passes and bad management of possession under 2 minutes. Joe Brady did nice things but we need to be real that it was Josh who willed this team in the moments when nothing was working. Really enjoy the show! I’ve been a bills fan since the late 80s and it’s been heartbreaking over the years. That said, I don’t think the Bills window is closed!
As I watch these games, there is one gleaming difference I see between the Bills and Chiefs, and it has nothing to do with scheme, specific plays or injuries, it’s psychological. When Mahomes plays in the postseason he elevates his entire team’s efforts and production, it’s an X factor that’s not on any analyst chart. However, when the Bills play, the expectation is for Josh Allen to be a superhero, yet the cast of players do not elevate to Josh’s level
    of play.
Also, I agree with all of you regarding the Lion’s game. I love Dan Campbell and don’t disagree with any of his play calls. He somewhat reminds me of the last of a dying breed like a Mike Ditka type if personality. A bit gruff and unpolished. I like it!

This year is was a little of both. McD's late game adjustments actually stopped the Chiefs. Unfortunately, Nagy did the same and slowed down Josh and the Bills offense. Plus it was the Bills offense dropping deep passes that would likely have turned into points. And we still have to point fingers at special teams as well, giving up big field position and missing points.

The last two years are rebuild or reload years through the draft for them. They didn't want to spend their cap money. So they are 28mil under the cap for next year and they're still in the superbowl the last two years. 🤦‍♂️ What the hell.

I vividly recall a HIGH-POWERED Bills offense, coming off a 51-3 AFC Championship win over the Raiders, held to 19 points by Bill Belichick and the Giants D. I disagree with the notion that all it takes is Offense to win a 🏆. Trust me, the SB will come down to who's defense can hold the opponent to the fewest points.

Congrats Jenna!! You made someone a lucky guy! 8) I got a new respect for Mahomes/Chiefs this weekend. The Ravens had apparently been trash talking. When Kelce took the stuff the Ravens kicker put in Mahomes way, and threw it, that was a warning! I also heard Mahomes talk about their defense winning a game. He said, they were so good my job was not fumble, not throw a pick, not turn over the ball. I really respected that. Lamar MVP? On Josh's worst day ever, he didn't look as bad as Lamar did vs the Chiefs!! Running back? I agree, but we need a Fullback, Larry Csonka, 6'3" 250lbs type! Cook is a halfback and has the speed to break downfield. #17 doesn't need to be hitting the pile for 1st downs! That is what a 6'3" 250lb fullback is for. Someone that gets 4-5 yds/carry every time!! 1 yd 1st downs guaranteed!! And Sean as DC? No, they need to hire a DC that Sean is happy with, or hire a new HC and let Sean be DC! He was overlooking game management, and team management duties, things a HC needs to be doing! 12 players on the field? The HC manages the team, he will also burn out trying to do both. He was starting to show that around the last game.!! Sorry this was long, I was taking notes. LOL 8) --gary

Hot Take: Brian Daboll was an overrated OC who ran a pass heavy offense, with far too little emphasis on running the ball. Josh was asked to do far too much, and when the team needed that tough one or two yards, Josh also became RB1.
13 Seconds hurt the Bills because it made them genuinely believe that Gabe was a WR2. Remember that Gabe was WR4, with Diggs, Beasley, and Emmanuel Sanders starting over him.
After Daboll left, Dorsey was left with a Gabe Davis who was elevated from WR4 to WR2 and Isaiah McKenzie as WR 3. He tried to mask this obvious WR deficiency with 12 personnel, but OJ Howard was not able to make the roster. Additionally, the Bills still had not solidified the two guard positions, with new starting guards every year since Josh became the starter in 2018. 2024 will be the first year that there will be returning starters at both guard positions, and Dion and Spencer had the best seasons of their career. Coincidence? Probably not. Ken’s offense was supposed to be a re-imagined version of Daboll’s, but there was no true WR2 and no 2nd TR to mask this deficiency. The one thing that I will criticize Dorsey for is his over-reliance on Josh. He had a promising young RB sitting in the backfield.

Bills need to go all in on offense this off-season and create an absolute juggernaut. Let McDermott earn his keep by running a top ten defense that only allows 21-24 points a game while the offense scores 40! Old time AFL football!
Also, did we interview even just one candidate for OC? I don't know if I completely trust Joe Brady.
Do you know what the problem with Nathan Peterman was? Nothing. Peterman was what he was, but our head coach (not an offensive minded guy) couldn't see it until it was too late. McD has to understand that there is more to being a head coach than just being loved in the locker room.
We should be going into the 2024 season with a new OC and a new DC also!

We lost against KC because: 1- They have a better Head Coach 2- They made better decisions on key moments (never saw such a badly executed fake punt; Josh's decisions on the last 2 throws were bad!!!!) 3- They have the GOAT Tight End that got back to his best at the right moment (or was allowed to by a weakened Bills defense). So what can the Bills do? I agree it is difficult to fight against unplanned injuries (every team has that issue year on year). However, the Bils need to improve Josh;s decision making!!!! How? Better coaching would help!!!! Ultimately the failures fall on the head of the HC!!!!! How many more years will we have to endure failure until a change is done? I agree that context matters when it comes to judging McDermott as a coach. So if the context is that he’s missing 4 top starters on defense, why does he choose to default to tying the gane and putting his defense back out on the field against Mahomes with 2 time outs and 1:40? That shows that he always defaults to a scared losing mentality instead of going for the win with his QB. That shows that he isn’t the guy who can take us to the Super Bowl. Context matters.

I am torn on defense. On the one hand, defense wins championships. On the other hand, offense wins games PERIOD, because if you can't score, you can't win. I think that the goal should be for the defense to slow the other team down, and come up with that critical stop every so often to give Josh Allen a chance to pull off the win. They can be schematically dominant without being skill dominant, like they were all season. That is why we need another very good reciever, and one more solidrunning back. If we get those assets, the offense will be the best in the NFL, and Sean McDermott proved this year that he can make a powerful defens out of nothing. A little bit more luck on the injury front, plus a better offense, plus one less missed field goal, and this team SHOULD have made all of the tweaks necessary to FINALLY get it done. Let's set them up for it this off season!!!

@@SuperiorAllah To be fair, McDermott has only been taken to the wood shed twice within the last few seasons: Once against the Colts a couple years back, and once against the Bengals last year. This year, defensively at least, he called a good enough game every single week to make plays and keep the offense in it. The games they lost, the offense failed to take advantage. I am convinced that if we had gotten the first round bye this year, we would be in the Super Bowl. McDermott is an outstanding schemer, and when he has extra time to scheme, he has never lost. Give him a week to plan, and they would have decimated the Texans and gone into the AFC Championship game at home much healthier and fresher. Then, another bye week before the Super Bowl. We were lucky to have defensive players left that could actually make plays, in my opinion.
