Now there's a piece of inspired artistry! Like the sculptor who was once asked how he could carve such realistic horses; "That's easy", he said, "I just cut away everything that doesn't look like a horse." And so you, take a piece of discarded automotive spring, take away the dross, do some heating, hammering, grinding and polishing and hey presto! A beautiful blade.
Bringing back an ancient craft to modern history
Good video. I liked the way you showed all the minor details, like the temperature of the oven when you tempered the knife.
I love watching your videos as well. It's weird I stumbled across one video and just like binge watched. Amazing work and skill.
Okay you handling that hot metal without gloves drove my anxiety through the roof, man.
i think this is the first video without him-
5:04: oh not again
Don't you like freshly baked pieces of metal
@@lolulpout5386 they’re tasty arent they ? 🤣

😍Great job making this beautiful Tanto!!
The first time you try to uncoil one of those Springs is a challenge! Great work here man, I'm really enjoying all the new tools you have in your shop
Only had to use a 50 ton hydraulic press... Thanks for watching man! Been watching your vids too, keep up the good work
I noticed you got yourself a new disc sander also!
Great job making this beautiful tanto with brass sheath

Your forging technique is nice and a pleasure to watch.
Another awesome build. I also dig the forge in the snow at the end. Very soothing.
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching :)
Such a beautiful knive !
I wonder if you make it damascus, that will be stunning !
One Of The Best forging Video After Random Hands.
Check out Freerk Weiringa and Alexander Bigunas
Absolutely Right
That must be one heavy tanto, all that brass sure is gonna look nice with a patina tho 👍. What hrc do you get on the blade after tempering?
I stumbled upon this page cause I like watching people forge knives but who would've thought I'd find another Keston doing the same I like and plan to get into in the future
Just once I'd like to see a katana turned into a rusty spring for a change.
Download video, import into editing software, change clip speed to reverse, enjoy 😊

Congratulations Bro on Getting 400 K Subs.Hope Soon you Complete 1 M Subs.
Good
Imagine losing your spring one day and than seeing this video being like:😢
Then*
So it happened with u i guess
I lost a spring for my pen yesterday
Looks like you've built another "ultra-light" tanto!
Good job on shaping all that brass! Probably took a century to do that!
When you think that 80% of that huge block of brass was converted to dust and chips 😂
All didlikers are jealous from your work...you have such a great talent...make more vidio ... Keep it up👍👍
You mean the people that DIDlike his video? !d!°t
This is amazing, the ingenuity is wonderful You did a good job

this man maxed out his forging skills
BEAUTIFUL BLADE, GREAT DESIGN, YOUR WORK , OUTSTANDING SIR, I APPLAUD YOU
Awesome work, love the vids man, like I said I’m going to get into making my own blades and I’m learning everything I can from all over, just curious why you bake the knife after quenching?
That's called tempering, it relaxes the steel to make it less brittle after the quench. The time and temperature vary drastically for different steels, look it up there is a ton of information about the process online. Give it a shot, it's a fun craft!
Yeah I'm not an expert but I recognize as tempering. Better in a oven than a open flame like the old days. Christ how they got it right then would of been a choir
Beautiful hefty tanto!! Great job
Always nice to wake up to a Faraway Forge video!
Thank you sir!
This is really cool. Love the vids dude amazing work
i wish i could have one , one of your creation ❤️
Subbed this video was amazing 👏
Ive been getting a lot of these coil spring videos pop up lately. Not sure why. I went down to my local steel yard and found that they actually sell metal now in straight bars of different thickness to make projects like this easier. Just a thought...
You are my favorite blacksmithing for whatever RUclipsr
Thank you!
this guy needs more subs he deserves it
What do you put on the buffing wheel and where can I buy some (the green cylinder)
A deadly ornament. Nice work.
Old comment sorry, but i need to know how you polished the blade to perfection? And how long did it take?
You deserve more subscribers
You’re so talented
Man... All that brass. And for what a Perfectly hand crafted tanto?
Honestly shocked the blade didn't warp in the heat treat, looked thin enough to warp it to the point of restarting
That's the first time I've seen someone wax the polishing wheel as much as I do
The way you lit the coals😍😍😍
Blade looks beautiful
Watching your video help me to sleep at night...tq very much
4:11 Is this the new legendary ultimate?
this is what real forging is, not cutting a shape from flattened metal and calling it katana...
But honnestly it’s pretty ugly... a lot of work, but the result isn’t so impressive
Hes probably doing his best. He's doing good for what its worth.
And it's not a katana(or tanto) the main point of the katana is that it's only half hardened(only the cutting part of the blade) he fully harened it.
Your right but real forging is from metal ore
@@naasirbaldwin8389 pretty sure thats called smelting
the gods have blessed us with a new rusty piece of shit turned into a blade, original
but seriously looks sick

Bellissimo. Ottimo lavoro. Bravo!!!!!!!
Those are golden hands of yours, nice job!

One of the coolest things I have ever seen. How long does it take you to make something like that? You have a real gift in what u do
Thank you very much, this one took me eight days all in (it takes a fair bit longer than usual because I have to film everything).
If there's someone that could save us from a zombie apocalypse, its him.
I think he killed someone with the bottom of that spring
Now hes smelting the evidence away
Maybe
Amazing work
Bro that's hella clean just wish it had a wrapped handle
No
Very good job👏👏👏かっこいい短刀ですね!👍

Is there a specific type of oil you use for tempering/hardening?
I've been using vegetable oil from the beginning, never had any issues with it. Parks AAA is the standard as far as I'm aware
May I know what kind of steel is that
Great job!!
Excellent work! God bless
i love this one !!!
How is your channel not documented yet
you are a mazing
Yay a new one I really want that sword so cool :3
Same
Simply fantastic
Bro im ur big fan. Really love all your work. So can i buy from you any one of katana you made. Hopefully get your awesome answer
beautiful work❤
*Excellent work* 👍👍
I love it, though I think the handle is oversized. I think with all that brass you could have thinned it a bit more. But hey, since it is probably a wall hanger or desk ornament, then it’s fine. Beautiful.
Yea you know it was a bit skinny when you look at it from the spine so I wanted to keep a little wider when you look at the side view to make up for that. But you're right, likely nobody will ever actually use it so oh well
タイトルだけ見て車のタント作るんかと思ったww
Amazing good job 🤜🤛
Me coming late at night now knowing what to watch then I see "forging a katana" I click so fast
I am very good your service congratulations for the work I loved please send a hug to Brazil I will thank you very much ❤️❤️❤️
Nice knife at the end🌹👏👏👏
Can someone explain to me the point as to him
Putting it into the forge to get hot and him putting it in the hot charcoal?
Gak di jual kah om
What's that liquid thing u dipped the katana after heating up
Listen there is a tanto style dagger that samurai would carry bf it was for flowers and the blade is in the opposite side the normal blade is on I think it would be a rad video idea and even a cool build to give to someone do a little research on it and maybe think about doin it 😊
Q obra de arte linda meus parabéns
Very nice work dude. But i wish you folded it in multiple layers. And atleast put some cloth inside the sheath.
Great job.....THE best i LOVE ❤️
Imagine a bunch of robbers coming to this guys house
Looks beautiful 🤩 ❗️
How much does something like this cost? And do you sell your creations??
That thing is beautiful
Please try making a nodachi (i mean a tall katana) love u videos keep going
Me during every katana/tanto video: "Please don't grind off the yokote, please don't grind off the... well crap."
Well honestly that line is very hard to maintain, especially when using power tools. Grind lines are pretty tricky to keep clean in general, no wonder they used to polish all surfaces meticulously by hand. Use any kind of rotary tool and the transition between two flat surfaces will get rounded and blurred and lose all that nice aesthetic value.
11:58 ey Yo bro wtf
Great work sir...can u show how to shine knife in detail
I feel like Goro Majima from the yakuza game series would love this
Beautiful.
beautiful work, but I think that the handle is a bit short
What does the oven do?
Perfect timing because today's my by birthday!
Happy birthday!
