Gotta love the Hurricane!! Although slightly slower than the Spitfire it can roll faster, turn tighter, dives faster, carries 2 seconds more ammo, takes more damage and is easier to fly. It is also the fighter that won the Battle of Britain. I fly Red on the TWC Campaign server with 1CAG, TWC, 69th and a few other clans. We coordinate on the TWC TeamSpeak3 channel and manage to organise 9 to 11 fighter sorties versus the blues, both AI and players. We're waiting for a new Battle of France May 1940 campaign to start. Currently the campaign is Battle of France July 1940. We're always looking for more players on both sides.

We organised a 8 x fighter escort to cover a Blenheim fighter bomber to take out the Radar site at Cap le Hague (French Point) but lost a few fighters (1 to FlaK, 3 to blue player fighters). I flew a Hurricane as usual and RTBed with a sieve. The Blenheim fighter pilot TWC Hoss managed to shoot down the same 109 player twice with the belly gun pack in a 1 on 1 dogfight. (We don't always have competent opposition!!). I run my guns in the American pattern convergence configuration (1 & 8 = 500 metres, 2 & 7 = 400 metres, 3 & 6 = 300 metres, 4 & 5 = 200 metres with sight set to 500 metres) as this is more lethal to enemy fighters. Only Clod - Blitz allows players to do this.
It's a shame it doesn't get the same love as we all know what(Both had MERLINS at this time ffs!). The Battle of Britain came just in time for the Hurricane to excel in it's pure fighter role.No bad thing. Have heard it said that the closer grouping of the Hurricanes guns were advantageous compared to the Spit too.Not heard this from former pilots however. If anyone has come across pilots talking of this please enlighten me!
The Hurricane never quite had the same glamour as the Spit but was responsible for downing 80% of all German aircraft (mostly bombers). It was a great stable gun platform and the Battle of Britain certainly couldn't have been won without it. Although slower than the Spit and the 109's it was a magnificent aircraft flown by great pilots. Don't know if the same carburettor issues in the Spit during a dive were still a problem with the RR Merlin but just over 1700 took part in the 1940 battle and, unlike the monocoque metal Spit, it could take considerable combat damage including exploding cannon shells because of its wood and fabric construction stiffened by metal tube framework. The Hurricane also had an inward retracting undercarriage making it remarkably robust compared to the 109 were a number of accidents occurred during post combat landings. The Hurricane's wings were also especially strengthened to accommodate the the four more closely bunched Brownings in each one bringing catastrophic results to the Luftwaffe. Hats off to Sydney Camm who became Hawkers chief designer aged 32 in 1925 and having faced a previous monoplane Air Ministry rejection he came up with the Hurricane which was developed from the existing biplane the Hawker Fury. What a result! Thanks for a great video.
The Hurricane is an absolutely terrific kite! Luftwaffe pilots sincerely believed that their E series 109's were better than the Spitfire, but wartime records show that their leaders repeatedly warned them not to engage in turning fights with Hurricanes. Despite being a bit slower than the bf-109 E-3/E-4's, the improved Mk I Hurricanes of the BoB had better pitch and roll response and a tighter turn radius than the vaunted Spitfire. I've spent a couple of thousand hours in the Mk I Hurricane (CFS3 with ETO 1.4) and I'd put my early Mk I up against an E series any day of the week and twice on Sunday.😉 I've just had my computer upgraded (16 Gigs of RAM and a 4 Gig video card) and purchased IL2 Sturmovik Great Battles, and I look forward eagerly to flying the improved BoB Hurricane very soon.
Ah, mas não é não... preciso jogar várias essas missões e ai escolho a que me saí melhor. É tenso mesmo... é uma mistura maluca de sorte com experiência! Heheheheheh

Thank you, mate! I have all graphics settings at max in-game and I have no mods installed. But I do some color grading while editing the video. I take out a bit of saturation and increase shadows. That is why it looks different.
Hurricane with 20mm guns is my favourite plane on il2 because its so easy to control and the recoil doesn't throw you off target. With the .303 version you have to get much closer and risk being hit by the rear gunner. Mind you, I only take on easy opponents like Stukas & me110s. (Plus, I cheat with unlimited ammo.) If the game replicates real life flight characteristics then you can get Hurricanes were the right plane for hastily trained pilots without fluent English.
I agree, Hurricane is so good to fly... stable and maneuverable! Adding 20mm to it was a huge improvement! I have a video with them here: ruclips.net/video/mtol7C9PVX4/видео.html o7
You're a damn good pilot. That sucks I'm a pilot IRL and I can't manage to stabilise my aim in this game each time I have one of these stupid bombers in sight. And their gunners are deadly for my poor canvas fighter... Might be my old joystick though. I have some little wobble at rest position. You earned a sub =)
Thank you, mate! =D I never flew a real aircraft to know for sure, but it might be related to the distance between the stick handle and its pivot point. On the real ones, we have more precision because they are longer than the joysticks we have at home. Wobbling is really a big problem.... Here, I have to make really small and smooth movements on my stick (which I don't think it is needed in real life). Does that make any sense?
I always find out being in an awkward situation, my hurricane could hardly catch up with the 109s and if I try to counter their bz I'd lose even more energy without scoring massive shots:(
Yeah, I know what you mean... the 109 can choose when and how it will engage. The best thing is to not fly alone... so when the 109 is attacking one, the other hurri can attack. On the video, that was a lucky shot... =/

Run your prop pitch at 60% then you will be able to climb as fast as they do. I hit 270 MPH in level flight with the canopy open and have caught up 109's in a climb. Running the prop in a higher gear ratio gives more thrust. 50% to 60% keeps it spot on the Merlin III's peak torque band. Any higher or lower sees the engine running inefficiently. The Hurricane DH 5-20 100 Octane runs 0% and 50% (just 2 settings) so is a lot faster (I've had 310 MPH @ 18,000 Feet) BUT the prop cannot free spin in a dive so will wreck the engine by overrevving. It also takes times to build RPM when accelerating out of a tight turn or levelling out from a climb. The Hurricane DH 5-20 outclimbs the Bf-109 E1 and E3. Think of the Rotol prop pitch as being a 10 speed gearbox with 0% being 1st gear, 80% being 3rd gear, 60% being 5th gear, 50% being 6th gear and 100% being neutral (feathered prop). On the DH 5-20 prop there is only 1st gear and 6th gear. The pilot has to match the peak torque with the prop pitch at any given airspeed.
