ASD Assessment Questionnaire ASMR Roleplay

  • Needless to say, this ASD assessment ASMR roleplay is not real and should absolutely not be used as a diagnostic tool. That said, if you feel that you may be on the spectrum, you definitely owe it to yourself to book an assessment to find out.
I was diagnosed with ASD later in my life - in my mid-thirties - and had previously been convinced that I categorically was not on the spectrum. However, after going through the process and learning more about it, it was incredibly helpful for me to receive the diagnosis so that I could better try to understand myself.
I try to convey a little of that comfort in this video but end up quite badly jumbling up words and not making sense, so hopefully there is enough personal attention and support in it to help you relax, but I do apologise for how chaotic it is. Regardless, I hope you enjoy!

    🎙 What is ASMR? 🎧
ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) is synaesthesia of the soul. It’s a relaxing feeling, it’s a tingling down the spine, or it’s simply a sleep aid. Whether it’s being ‘held’ by someone you have confidence in, or ‘looked after’ by someone with authority, or just feeling ‘safe’ with someone you trust, it uses audio-visual triggers to enable you to let go of your worries and stresses - even just for a bit.
    📽 What is FPC? 🎞
FPC (first person cinema) takes all the relaxing elements of ASMR but has much more of a focus on immersion and the suspension of disbelief. It’s kinda like being the main character in your own short movie, with popular figures you know and love, or entirely created worlds - just for you. There won’t be any visible mics or traditional triggers in these videos, and they will seem more unintentional than the usual ASMR videos - but they are unique and relaxing experiences designed to transport you to different places, worlds, and times.
Disclaimer: This video is intended for relaxation. Any views, opinions, or advice expressed is purely for the purpose of entertainment, and to induce tingles through ASMR. These videos are not a substitute for traditional medicine, therapy, or any other professional medium, and should not be treated as such! Take all the advice with a pinch of salt, and certainly don’t take it to heart. That being said, please enjoy them, benefit from them, and hopefully get those warm, tingly feelings. Oh, and it’s not for kids.

@@kristinLastName it's really really really difficult to find accurate information on autism because we aren't well understood on a scientific level. Society is plagued with this notion that autistic people are disordered and that we have to fix ourselves/be fixed by others to fit in with neurotypicals, and even many popular autistic people have internalized and hence reflect this idea. So i don't have recommendations now but i understand the struggle to find good channels and i encourage you to avoid the anti-autistic narratives floating around, even when they're presented by autistic people

I have a problem with writing long RUclips comments and/or spending too long of time writing said comments... I almost did it again on a ramble about my own diagnosis and some thoughts, but I kept overthinking, because when I was 18 I was not only diagnosed with ASD, but also ADD, and anxiety. Pfff...
Anyway though... one of my favorite ways of explaining autistic people, is that we're like cats. Example: We have a wide range of personalities and comfort zones.
If my sister (also autistic, but early diagnosed) was a cat, you could sick her on bugs, but she'd hiss/growl at people who try to sing or make weird noises. If I was a cat, I'd be a good snuggle buddy, but there would be times when I'd puke somewhere in the middle of the night.

    • @kristinLastName
      @kristinLastName Год назад +2

“Like cats”: that makes a lot of sense. I don’t know anyone in face-to-face life who is “out” about their diagnosis, but this really resonates.
(I struggle with rambles and overthinking online too, so you’re in good company. 🙂 “Should I follow along with what others seem to be doing here, or fully perform my joy?”)

I love this video concept, and as he said in the description: This is not a real ASD assessment, if you feel you relate the these questions, you are more than free to speak to an actual doctor. And if you're not sure if you should/how you would use this video as evidence- then you can simply write or type down the questions/answers you related to and then present such to the person giving the assessment. And if you have difficulty getting an assessment scheduled, then you can talk to a general practitioner doctor and show them the evidence and say "hey based on this I'd like to see a specialist/get an assessment."
Often, just getting an assessment is the hardest part in one's journey with Neurodivergence. But there are lots of nice and friendly subreddits for community. Whether you're Neurodivergent, questioning, or just an ally :)

I don't believe there is a "normal" way of thinking anymore. There are ways we learn to fit in, to fake (or survive) our way through childhood (if we're able), to learn many things many hard ways when navigating adult relationships (and learning that it's not safe to believe everything one is told or that people always have your best interests in mind). Very soothing and helpful video. Watching again last night, I kept dozing off in micro-increments so would miss odd syllables. It was interesting. Thank you so much for what you do.

I was diagnosed with a "learning disability" when I was 12, but was never given a formal diagnosis as to what that "learning disability" actually was. I feel I could be somewhere on the spectrum for either ADHD or Autism or both, since I do know now that having both at the same time is possible. I just haven't felt brave enough to get another assessment done to confirm my suspicions since gaining some of this knowledge from the YT channels I watch of people on either side of the spectrum.

This comes at an amazingly fitting time as after an 'informal' diagnosis by my therapist, I'm now finally seeking a professional diagnosis, partly for the paperwork to apply for accommodations in uni and work which I'll need! :)

I definitely prefer just Autism Spectrum rather than Autism Spectrum Disorder, mainly because the term disorder to me makes it sound like there is something inherently wrong with me because of my condition, and while there are negatives to it, especially on the lower end, on my end of the spectrum, there are also great positives, I have an excellent aptitude for learning especially in math and science. Of course if people want to use the term ASD that’s fine by, it’s your choice on what you prefer, but that’s my two cents on the subject.
Still, I don’t think I would trade this condition away, I like being different in a different way. I’ve come to enjoy having it in most cases rather than hate it.

If it matters, I think you are AWESOME as you are! My son is on the spectrum, and it is amazing to see the world through his eyes. I find neurodiverse people to be more engaging and interesting to be around honestly. You keep on being your wonderful self and be damned to anyone who tries to make you feel less because you don't fit their version of "normal"!

I believe I got diagnosed when I was a little kid, and have been able to live with it for most of my life. Only downside was being in the "special room" all throughout Middle School which had teachers that often babied me and always smelled for some reason. The only time it was "good" for me in that room was when I was in it for my Freshman year of High School, where the room didn't smell and the teachers didn't baby me for once, plus we never had any assignments so it was like a break class. Only downside there was one particularly annoying, kinda bratty kid in that class, plus another class I shared with him, but I was luckily able to move and never have to deal with him again.

i have been suspicious that i may be on the spectrum for many years now, but anytime i have attempted to bring it up i am not believed, and am compared to the boys in the family who are on it. autism in women is different, and i want to get evaluated, but i fear of not being believed again. so despite the fact i am an adult, i am still a bit afraid of going in because i might accidentally change my behavior.
either way, this video helps me feel less ostracized :)

Hey! I'm not neuro diverse and stop talking about my long winded, essay like response comments like that! Seriously Jim, my young adult son has been diagnosed as neurologically diverse, at a younger teen age, and this vid will be a definite reassurance to stabalise his anxieties.
I have since suspected that I too have a bit of the same problems, though I always thought it was because I was an only child, a girl, partially and to differing degrees deaf, depending on how much of my much loved milk ( caused earaches, pain vomiting, and swollen rashes in the ear cannals and eventually a double abcess... until the annually school visiting nurse discovered that I had only 30% hearing on that day at 7 years old) I had drunk. This had caused me and adults to believe I was slow and/or naughty and early school work and confidence and trust in adults around me was affected. Then dad's work in the RAAF had us posted all over Australia with many school and friendship changes. My school work suffered, except for English and Social Studies. Though some teachers marked my essays down points for exceeding the word limit...Grrrrrr. Unlike the good teachers who appreciated my " creative individuality " and made other such encouraging comments. SO, I thought I had the reasons for my few eccentric problems sussed, until recently. SO, I thought my eccentricities were quite reasonable considering my background and they did not really affect my confidence back in those good OLD days as I was used to making new friends and handling the single school bully, that was the norm back then, with a natural reflex, steady searching glare, as I was trying to comprehend the reason for such cruelty. One of my problems is that I unconsciously, search for meaning in the eyes when trying to comprehend what someone is saying. I find ambiguity everywhere, filling in questionaires is Hell. Apparently silent, direct staring with a frown is a glare and very unnerving. I now must remember to stretch a gentle lipped smile at the same time.
This silent glare unnerved the bullies. They would nervously shrug, chuck one last sad pants insult that failed to land, then walk. Now there is social media. Not much neighbourhood friendly face to face social networking allowing us to see and empathise ( as in the past ) about how every family has their rough edges and problems and back then just openly rocked them with support, good humour, respect and understanding. Now there is lot of isolating judgement and even mass bullying. I think it is harder to be accepted for having 'eccentricities' these days and the youth especially suffer lack of outside support and so, many times, lack resilience. Also with modern tech there are many ways to get along without having to put yourself ...............' out there.'
Thank you Jim for the great effort in putting yourself ' out there.' You have definitely found a Calling that is also beneficial to so many. Good on you Jim 😇
