- In this "Trash to TREASURE" episode I am taking 2 old scarves and a fabric remnant from a previous project (bow cardigan from 2 years ago) and sewing a beautiful top with statement sleeves! You can easily turn this into a thrifted project where you can thrift a sweater and replace sleeves with beautiful fabric OR maybe you have an old sweater that is just begging for a new sleeve? Either way, I hope you enjoy this video and that it gives you new ideas for sewing, upcycling, thrift flipping and scrap busting :)

WOW!!! This is such an inspiration piece! You have taken something basic and the scarves with meaning from your past and turned it into a VERY High End top that would have cost you hundreds of dollars in the shops. You get a standing ovation from me! Well Done!
Thank you so much! I really love this sweater as well - simple, yet effective, can be dressed up and down. I love when clothing can be personal, with a story and wearable, as well :) Thank you, Linda!
Standing ovation is right!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻bravo 😁💐
Exactly! Well said.
And the lace seam looks like it's been French seamed anyway!
That sweater is lovely and so are you. Thank you for all your inspiration and wisdom. I am improving and may post a video of my creations someday with a shout-out to you and the other kind folks on RUclips that make sewing a fun hobby.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!! Such a wonderful idea! Thanks so much for sharing.
WOW this is absolutely gorgeous!!! I would wear this in a heartbeat!!! 💕💕
I have to confess, I had my doubts. But it's stunning on you!
Beautiful sweater that has an elegant aspect but can also be a casual garment! You are inspiring.
absoluetly stunning.
It definitely is a winner! Absolutely beautiful.I love that you make your own designs.
Your vision AND problem solving are amazing!
Thank you for sharing the good and challenging of your projects.
The sweater is beautiful and looks beautiful on you! I love your ideas, your commentary and your sharing the process with us. Thanks
Thank you so much! I am so glad that showing and sharing the process helps and is fun to watch!
Totally agree! Love how you include your viewers in your thinking processes. ❤️
LOVE this design. Inspired me to look through scarves I don't wear.
I loved watching the problem-solving process in this one! And the end result looks really beautiful and special. :)
Thanks so much! 😊
Wow!!! Absolutely a Masterpiece!
I love how you're making more upcycling / altering videos. In this age of massive consumerism, wastage and climate change, many of us have lots of clothes that we don't wear. It's nice to learn proper techiques to upcycle those clothes, instead of the dubious methods employed by content creators who have hardly any knowledge about tailoring.
The sweater/lace top is so gorgeous! You have inspired me to rummage through my wardrobe!
Yay! yes, do it :)
So beautiful. You are an artist.
Stunning, both you and the sweater.
Thank you so much, Flora!
Thank you so much for your videos!! You have really inspired me to create garments for myself!! I have a hard time finding clothes that fit me just right and I am thrilled to be able to custom make some for myself. I have sewn very little since I was a kid in 4H, but it is coming back to me!! I wanted to add a tip that is working like a dream for me. Because I am relatively inexperienced with sewing, I have been using landscape fabric to make test garments. I can get 4ftx50 yards of it at the local home improvement store for around $7 and it can be sewn on a machine. SO I can make a really cheap mock up to make sure the pattern is correct. I have taken to cutting the patterns out of the landscape material as it is easier to pin through than the paper I was using. Thought I would share with everyone. Can't wait to see what the next projects would be!
That's beautiful! The seams in the sleeves aren't noticeable at all, I think it looks perfect!
Beautiful blouse.
It is a stunning piece.
Thank you so much, Christine!
The sweater is beautiful! I am very happy to find your program. I wanted to learn how to make sleeves. Your show is a great help. Thank you!
Wonderful!
wow that is gorgeous alisa well done 👏 ✔️ 👍
Thank you so much 😊
What a lovely top! Well done.
Ohhh god.Its so beautiful .I Love it.
The sweater with the lace sleeves is breathtaking!!
That came out just beautiful - you're such an inspiration ❤️
Absolutely brilliant and beautiful. Matches you perfectly.
Oh Alisa, you are so tiny and talented! You can take a brown paper bag and make it beautiful on you 🤩 I’m so glad did demonstrate putting knit and something non stretchy together because I actually tried it only because that’s the two fabrics I wanted together (because I don’t like showing my arms) not because I knew what I was doing 😆🤪 but, it came out ok 🤷🏻♀️and I wore it to my friends son’s wedding.
Noooooooo, a paper bag would still be a paper bag on me, lol :) thank you for a sweet comment! Yeah, gotta be careful when working with knits and woven in one garment, just have to keep in mind the ease, and the properties of the garment, what needs the stretch and what does not, what stitch to sew it with, but other than that - it is doable :)
Wow that sweater is fabulous.
That worked out so nicely!
I zeroed in on that woven/knit combo right away! I was like "uh-uh"! I've wanted to try! Thanks for demonstrating thinking outside the box!
Simple, Classy, & beautiful!!
I love you sharing your thought process & how you just go for it, and it turns out so beautiful!
Thank you so much, Anna!
Absolutely stunning. Great concept and really well thought out. It is a one only piece and is perfect!!
❤
Absolutely lovely - well done! I really like that you share your thought process and the challenges you face along the way. Thank you for your videos. A really great result. 👍.
I think this project is LOVELY! WMF the fact that your mom made that lace ❤ special! Great job!
Gorgeous! Thanx for doing the hard part...the thinking, for us! I ❤ the combo of lace with knit. 😊
Definitely going to make one similar to this one, as well as your cardigan! You inspire creativity! 🤗
It's gorgeous! I'd take a few flowers from the lace and attach them to the top.
That's gorgeous and the finish is beautiful. 🤩
Very adorable and elegant !
Really lovely to look at and very cleverly created.
Wow! This looks fantastic! I love your creative ideas and troubleshooting along the way! Thanks 😊
That is gorgeous! Honesty, at the beginning of the video I was thinking that the color of the fabric wasn't going to work....but it really looks amazing. I've been watching your channel for years and I've been so inspired by everything you make. I've started making Cosplays for my daughters, who love anime', and it's been so fun to see the outfits come together and look so good. I have so many of your videos saved, so I may be ready to make something for myself soon. Thank you for making everything look so easy and for giving me the confidence to just try it!
Alisa........Drum Roll!!!!!
It's another...Home Run!!
Beautiful!
Thank you, Nancy! I think I am going to get a ton of wear from this one this season and many upcoming ones as well, I am so happy that I got to reuse the scarves and make something special!

It’s beautiful! You are so talented. Thank you. 🙂
Oh my goodness I love this top you did a great job. I love watching you. I think you are so very smart. The sweater is beautiful. I wish I could do that people give me clothes all the time and I don't want to get rid of them but I don't know what to do with them.
You totally can - just a pinch of imagination and one step at a time! :) you can do it!
@@ThoughtfulCreativity maybe if I watch some more of your tutorial I might can. Thank you for the encouragement.
That is so pretty. My daughter hand painted a scarf for me. I might try something like this.

It’s a winner. Beautiful!
Beautiful! You make it look so easy 😊. Have been trying to alter clothes to fit better but haven't built up the courage to use clothing for fabric to make items yet. Learning so much from watching your videos. Thank you!!
Beautiful job! I love it! Keep up the great work. God bless.
Gorgeous Alisa🤗
So pretty, I love it. Bravo 😍
Thank you! 😊
Lovely and unique.
I loved this one! It came out so beautiful and perfect for early fall! ❤️👍🙂
Love the scarves
I love this! It looks store bought and very original. To buy this top would cost a fortune.
Its beautiful! This inspired me to mix it up. Thanks for the motivation. I took the long sleeves off a pj top I never wear and I made a summery plaid top from them.
So awesome! I am glad this video gave you the idea for your wonderful project! Great job!
gorgeous!
This really turned out beautiful.
Thank you so much, Teresa!
Absolutely love it!
Thank you, Alice! :)
Beautiful job sweetie. I would have also serger the lace seam and called it good. 💗💗
Oh hello there! Long time no see - thank you for tuning in :)
Beautiful!!!🔥
Absolutely gorgeous ❤
Beautiful
Thank you, Debbie! Cheers!
Wow absolutely fabulous ❤
It’s absolutely gorgeous! 😍
Fabulous 🤩 even though the sleeves are not exactly like you imagined, I think it still has an indication of a fuller sleeve. Job well done 👍.
Outstanding!
Thank you kindly!
That is lively, almost looks like you have a tank top on top of a beautiful lace top except the cuffs bringing it together. Fabulous. Plus it really suits you. 😍
I absolutely love it.
Lovely. Well done.
I loved this I just made myself a lounge set out of left overs of another set I made I only had enough of the material to make the body and cuffs so I added some jursey that I had left over from a dress for the sleeves I love the combination of different material and will be making more for sure
That's a great idea!
Wow! That is so beautiful. It looks really good on you. This is timely because I received a small amount of sheer fabric and I have been playing around with the idea of using it for sleeves on a knit top. Now I am going for it! Thanks. 😍😍 Awesome job
Elegant and classy!
