    • @helencampbell
      @helencampbell  2 года назад

      Hi Louise. I never remove them but if you dislike them use a putty eraser and gently roll over pencil lines. The line drawing should be really light and not sketchy so when you trace it down or if you draw it freehand, then A really light touch you only want your pencil to be your guide not an actual drawing if that makes sense

    What a beautiful painting. I love it. When you first started out, it looked like you did wet on dry instead of wet on wet? I have taken botanical painting classes and we always started out with wet on wet. Let it dry and then if need be, add another layer. I am seriously thinking of signing up for your classes. I just have to decide which course I have been taking, as I belong to three Patreon classes. So to join yours, one has to go! But I have watched you several times and I like what I see. I am not happy with one class. I have a hard time understanding her and get frustrated.

      Thank you for your comments. I begin my painting wet on wet or wet on dry depending on the subject and sometimes the paper. It’s whatever feels right.

      @@helencampbell the reason I asked is that I could not tell if you had wet whatever you were painting before painting. And I was referring to the flower you painted. One has more control certainly with the service dried. What I do with a painting on a dry area is after I paint the area on dry paper, I have another damp brush in hand to quickly go over the edge to soften. I will be joining your class as I think you can get even me to paint better. I love working with colored pencils on beautiful adult coloring books. I do that at night while in our tv room because hubby feels alone. So I try to practice/paint in watercolor during the day.

    This one is a treat to look at.
    On the petals, does the peachy color go at the base of the petals or do these two colors mix throughout the petal?

    • @helencampbell

      Hi. It goes on the base of some since they have a more peachy tone. But not all (from memory since it was a few months ago). There’s a ref photo and line drawing where it shows the colour placement better and you den have free access to these over on our Facebook group. Link in description. But in short it’s doesn’t really matter but just keep washes light and apply in layers Letting each layer dry before applying the next

    I tried this on Arches and the blending was difficult. At the beginning of the video you were going to explain why you chose mixed media paper but you never did. Can you explain?

    • @helencampbell
      @helencampbell  2 года назад

      Hi. Gosh sorry. Here’s a video where I e tin detail. Arches or any high quality watercolour paper can make blending a little difficult if you’re quite new to watercolour. Here’s the video ruclips.net/video/Gl8ar_zDDLA/видео.html

    Hi! At the beginning you said you use multimedia paper, and you were going to share why. I must have dozed off, because I missed it. Would love to know why.

    • @helencampbell
      @helencampbell  3 года назад

      Hi. I used mm paper for 2 reasons. I find it makes blending watercolour a breeze and also, not everyone has fine watercolour paper in their paper stash and I want to make watercolour painting accessible to everyone and show that you don’t always. Have to have ‘fancy’ paper 😀
