@@Marshmallox43 Do you get the Daemon Hunters rules if you do this? I don't think you get special rules or stratagems if you're taking agents as allies, so it's stilly to show a regular GK on this page.
It would have been OK if they could requisition regular GK, but they can't. It's like the graphics and rules writing teams had zero coordination.

you can technically bring 3 units of 5 GK termies, in Ordo Malleus, but yes.
How TF did this get to the printers without a Chamber Militants rule? Just give the ordos brood brothers of the appropriate army, take away their army rule, and give any such units the appropriate ordo keyword to sync with the strats.

Been playing since 3rd edition. Been involved in the IP since the mid 90's (Played final liberation)
Collected and based my collection around Eisenhorn. Fell in love with the Deathwatch. Returned to the hobby when they received their own codex. Collected a large collection. Spent years playing competitively with an uphill struggle the entire time. Felt like the faction was lazily implemented and balanced every edition from 8th-10th. But still persevered, believing that GW would finally, after years of record profits, be able to give The Deathwatch its due love and care. Leaned into the Meta every single time James Workshop changed it.
Only to have this happen at the end of the road. Thank you for speaking your mind quite frankly, regarding this appalling mishandling of a codex release. How this was green lit is itself a cononudrum only invented in a fever dream.

@@joshclark2274 Deathwatch were mechanically effective a few times in there, and straight-up busted on release of 10e.
They 9e book was the most mechanically intricate codex I've ever seen. There was no shortage of love and attention there.
I'm with you 90% of the way, though.

    • @joshclark2274
      @joshclark2274 23 дня назад +1

@itcamefromthedeep 9e, towards the end of the edition, I agree completely! They managed to get 80% of the way with the faction towards the end of 9th. As in so close to getting them fully realised.
But I was a Firstborn only spammer in 9th. And desperately tried running all firstborn Deathwatch lists at tournaments as I enjoyed the challenge.
Start of 10th. I agree they were utterly broken. I personally don't enjoy using "broken" gimmicks, fully expecting FAQs and really didn't ever use nor enjoy using the anti+ mechanic spam. A lot of my competitive friends picked up Deathwatch at the start of 10th. So the rules influenced sales there most definitely.

The codex itself isn't bad - but the problem is it shouldn't be a codex. Its a supplement to imperial armies.

@@netprince455 The same could be said of Grey Knights. And Cuatodes. And Imperial Knights.
Really, throw in Goliaths and Ridgerunners (civvie Imperial stuff Rogue Traders would use) plus Scions (+Taurox & Valkyrie) plus Sisters of Silence and you have plenty of selection. Maybe add some quirky devices that only the Inquisition is allowed to use for your ranged anti-tank needs and it feels fleshed out to me, even if cobbled-together. A lot of Imperial forces in the background feel cobbled-together.

All they needed to do was have an Army rule like ‘Strike with the authority of the Emperor’. Any friendly unit within 12 inches of an Inquisitor gets +1 to wound. Fluffy and means they actually have a game vs high toughness. Gives you a reason to take Inquisitors.
They could have given each detachment a mortal wound bomb 💣 strat similar to the Grey Knight librarian but only usable by inquisitors. By locking it to a strat within the dex it would help the Agents army with anti-high toughness without overpowering the inquisitor ally for all Imperial armies.
Funky grenades? Some kind of strat for a Haywire grenade or something similar? A strat for an orbital strike? Brings down a Shadowsword shot? Suddenly the codex is playable.

this would be a thematic army rule that would also fix the lack of units vs Vehicles and Monsters.
it would also make DW players have a little more to play with.
ally in from other imperial factions and depending on their Detachment and giving the allied in units the keyword to gain the benefit of that detachment to benefit from it.
i would exclude titanic units, battleline and characters.
    1000pts - 1 unit
    2000pts - 2 units
    3000pts - 3 units
Ordo Xenos - ally in core Space Marines - would give more of a Death Watch feel.

if you want a super stretch, they have the rule to swap out assassins before the battle. Its on the datasheet of each assassin, and you can do it only if you are faction imperial agents. They could have labeled it an army rule, and honestly if they had applied it to maybe a couple of other units it would have been very flavorful and in line with a codex that has a decent number of "good against X terrible again everything else" units in it.

You shouldn't apologise so much about the negativity here. As much as we love the Warhammer hobby, GW simply doesn't get things right all the time - in fact, they outright crap on their fans sometimes, and there's nothing wrong with calling it out where it happens. What matters is being balanced in your coverage of it, and the sort of average of the tone. Trying to take a position of 'no negativity' or 'we avoid negativity' leans into the realm of a kind of toxic positivity, which isn't especially helpful, or something that really builds trust from a community - no company providing a hobby has ever done anything to earn unconditional support and joy from its community. The Titans team do a great job of keeping us excited about the hobby, and you aren't going to put us offside by calling out stuff that you don't think is very good where you have cause to be concerned about it.

Simple Army Rule: Key Word INQUISITOR units can join any unit fielded in your army unless the unit is LONE OPERATIVE and regardless if the unit has another leader attached. If the unit the INQUISITOR is attached to is destroyed, the INQUISITOR can join another unit, regardless of what other leaders are attached (including other INQUISITOR units) once it moves within 6” of the unit. Once it joins another unit, move the INQUISITOR into coherency. When attached to any unit INQUISITOR models do not count towards capacity in transports. I’m not saying this is perfect and would fix anything, but at least it’s something that would seem to focus on what this “army” is going for thematically.

With the Bikers using the old bikes that they yeeted from the main line and with Deathwatch Terminators having configurations you can't just get with one Terminator box, those units were doomed. With the rest of the range being Firstborn they have no place in this brave new Primaris world.

I really don’t understand the intent with the codex. If it was to fit the lore or idea of agents of the imperium it’s super restrictive, and cuts out units traditionally associated with imperium agents. (Scions, Dominions, Deathwatch Terminators, Grey Knight strike squads all off the top of my head) If it was to make a tournament or “match play” style army it’s missing armor/anti armor, and relies on utility to take objectives and looks like it will struggle to hold objectives. But I can see the intent, I just don’t think they met that intent. So just like Admech, I am expecting a rework or significant change in six months to a year.

Been wanting Inquisitorial faction forever, now it's here and they just killed DW and Jokaero for no reason. Idk very weird very lackluster.
Like others said why this isn't a Supplement for Imperial Armies or made Deathwatch / Grey Knights / Guard a big part of the main forces to Requisition is a question well be asking throughout 10th

Maybe I was just so burnt from soup armies in 8th and 9th edition but I always found them to be a nightmare in balancing. There is nothing in this book that grabs my attention at all, it is just imperium soup. But I do understand that for some this is something they have always wanted to play. The rules look really fluffy and great for narrative games and crusade. I think this army will be a nightmare in balancing for competitive. I hate what they did to deathwatch but at least with how the rules are now you can always just play them as vanilla space marines and pick whatever detachment you want. Overall I think this is a heavy dud, there is some fun stuff for casual table games, and narrative campaigns. Bad for competitive, mediocre rules and too few choices (one grey knights and one DW option? come on!). Pass for me, hope people get joy out of it.

I always wanted to have my Dark Angels Army use a few units of Imperial Agents, simply because I love the models - and now I can!
I dont really care whether it has issues, I am sure they will resolve them.

Buying a whole book just for 15 odd datasheets we already had in index and a whole bunch of utterly useless detachments is not what i signed up for in this hobby. Biggest let down of 2024.

As an actual agents player. I like this codex. The only issue in it I see really is that the
1.Navis units need a sticky unit. As do to there range the have to keep pushing and can not hold an objective and not just get shot off.
    2. Some wording needs clearing up.
    3. What the points will be. Most navis/arbites units (not characters) should be around the 80pt number. The current points are good for using as allies. Dropping them down to around the 80pt mark would be close to an auto include so keeping them around 100 would be a good balance point for that. But at 100+ points, it is bad for these codex detachments.
    4. Voidsmen. The retinue rule with them should be applied in the codex armies to as if they are attached to a navis character, they do not take up the rule of 3. Or make them battleline again.
They would also be ideal for the sticky. Breechers assualt, voidsman hold and do actions.
    5. Anti armor is weak but can be doable with henchman, and how you are playing can mitigate this. But if you come against a heavy armor list, it will suffer. When there were rumors of a new assasian, i was hoping for an anti vehicle assassian, like the infocyte.

the units you can ally are split into 3 categories.
      Characters, Retinue and Requisition.
at 2k points you can have 2 Characters, 2 Retinue units and 1 Requisition unit.
the Blackstar is a Requisition unit so you can have 1 of them.
but it can only have DW units embarked inside.

Keeps saying that the ordo are to “ specific “ well of course they are they each are meant to fight specific enemy’s. Why would you send a daemon hunter inquisitor to hunt Orks? Do you complain that a screwdriver can’t pound in a nail? This codex has always been like this in most editions. Deathwatch and gray knights used to be only found in the inquisitor codex. It is more focused on the lore and the story than the all comers tournament play.
