- Here is the brand new QT80 branded 10 meter amateur transceiver, with a lot of cool features and up to 80 watts PEP on SSB, 50 watts on FM.
In this video, you will also see the super simple modification that opens this radio up for 15 meters, 12 meters, and yes, 11 meters.
A Solid radio from what I see, and there is a discount using this link below:

To make it clear, Google tells me I have to click the "paid endorsement" check box on my videos, when IN FACT, i was NEVER compensated with money to make this video. I simply received it from Radioddity to show it and check it out. They asked me to say whatever I want in an honest review, and in the past, if ANY company ever sent me something that was terrible, YOU NEVER SAW IT ON VIDEO.

I've been looking for something like this. I want one!! Thanks for taking the time to make this detailed video, Eric.
Geez don't even need a soldering iron to chicken band this thing! Cool radio :)
Awesome Radio.
I run the Anytone quad 6 in my truck. While driving I have no problem making contacts 4K-7k miles away
Great video

This is a cool radio. I think I will have to pick this up and check it out.
Great video and run through Eric. This is a killer radio with fantastic performance. FYI - hold the BAND button to enable full VFO mode and get rid of the channels! (RTFM - it's a very good user manual!) Also, you will see closer to 100w PEP on the 10m band. You can use FT8 / digital modes using the built-in VOX.SPK mode - with a single cable connection to the MIC jack - it supports audio IN and OUT with no external interface needed! I have been working the world on 15m FT8 with my new AT-6666 PRO (QT-80) in this way. 73
Single cable from mic jack to pc? You don't need, for example, the SignaLink SLUSB6R? That would be a game changer!!
@@dopplebockk that's right! As long as your PC digital mode software supports a VOX mode (most do) then that's all you need. No interface needed!
@@mostlypostie1 I presume we're referring to 3.5mm TRRS?
@@dopplebockk the mic jack. On the front. Supports audio in and out. The built-in Vox mode handles the PTT.
@@mostlypostie1 My bad on the confusion, but I do appreciate the patience. I think I'm following..so what are the ends of the single cable connection from PC to the front mic jack look like? TRRS to DIN6? USB to DIN6? Did you wire up the connection (I've seen the diagrams) or buy this somewhere?
First comment, first like.
It looks like a fun radio to play with.
Nice Video mate.

1982 HR2510 first 10m contact was the land down under. Worked 30 countries that summer! Awesome Eric!
I am glad they include 11M - In an emergency we are all going to find the CB channels come alive.
Just got the Anytone version, cool radio
Thanks for showing us the new version! Wish it came with 3.5mm CW jack. I have the original AT-6666 and made some great videos and contacts with it on my channel including South Africa mobile from NY on 10M. Looking forward to some 15m videos from your truck. 73
There are some instructions on the Radioddity website that shows how to add a neat CW jack to the microphone. 73
@@mostlypostie1 Thanks I'll take a look.
Best radio for my mobile, regular contacts to Europe from Cape Town, would love to get over the pond soon.
That radio will do the cb band all you have to do is power the radio down and press the memory button and the band button keep holding thoes buttons in and turn the radio back on there will a menu button on the screen and choose hf and press and hon the function button of your choice and it will open there radio up
LOL I wish the big 3 would make MARS modding their radios that easy, wow!
Great radio but no speech for white stick operators and I noticed the beeps do not change so if you can not see the screen no good to you!!! Thank you for the review
Push and hold the Band button and it goes into "full VFO mode."
The channel number goes away.
It's in the users manual.
MINE was delivered today!!!
I talked to Paraguay South America on 100 watts! thats the furthest ive talked yet! still waiting to make contact with KJ4YZI when hes got the time and the conditions are right on 10 meters!
MOAR Roger Beeps!!
What a great radio !!
Aloha Eric, this radio is perfect just the way it is. I do a lot of 11 meters, never CB, on my two G90’s.
It would be nice if it could handle 2 meters also but that’s what my Anytone AT5888 UVIII is for. I just want more options while on the road or up in the mountains of Hawaii.
I was hoping you were going to state how many whiskeys it can do on 11 meters on USB and LSB, if it would do the full 80 watts or not?
I could use my G90’s for most of these functions but I would mount this rig in my Jeep with my Walmart bought CB mag mount telescopic antenna and call it a day. 👍
About 100 w pep ssb for 10 m and Cb and about 75w on 12m ssb and about 60w on 15 ssb
@@CBPunisher1900 Good! I was going to look up the cost of this radio but just haven’t gotten to it yet. I’m guessing it’s in the $200 dollar range. 🤪
I stand corrected, $299 but I could break it down into monthly payments and have it paid off even before I find time to play with that radio. 🤣🤪🤣😂
If I could only plug in my CW Key…
Beautiful radio, great first off video.
Time to dust off the old Silver Eagle!
You could also go to 15 meters bij just switching the bands. Because bij moving the jumper you also added a few extra bands. Now you band go from A to O. (M.N.O.) Are the 15 m bands.
Cutie 80
11 Meters is the demographic that they are marketing it to. Most snooty hams would not own a radio like this, they are just too "posh" lol
the hams on 7200 lsb would own this lol
It's a radio to play around with for cheap. WHy not? K1MH
Eric where did you get that Band Plan Desk Mat? I like to buy one!
Definitely not underselling the power of 10m when it’s open. It’s spoken half way around the world with the qt60 and a firestik mag mounted to the metal roof of my house 😂. Stopped playing with ten now that I have my extra. But with this new one adding 15m, I think I’m going for to have to pick one of these up for the truck.
Cool radio
So we can expand it to include 12 and 15 meters, but how is the performance there? Has that been tested? Output, etc.
not bad on 15m 50w ish maybe 60 pep ssb and great on 12, 11 and 10m. 110w pep ssb but it gets hot if your long winded add those 2 president fans they sell on amizon.
C'mon. Let's be honest. Are you really going to buy something like this to use it for CW??? Those of us to do do CW are already going to have rigs that we take portable for CW. You're going to buy this because you want to mod it for 11 meters, and put it in your car, and have the ability to use it for both CB radio, and ham.
Thus far, I haven't really been tempted by any of the export radios. I figure if I want to listen to 11 meters, I can do that on any of my radios. This one, however, tempts. Throw in the ability to mod for 15 meters, and this one just might be the winner for me. Thanks for the video.
cant have too many radios i say but this now before the price goes up cuz nothing ever gets cheaper only cost more these days
Can u get in the service menu on this radio?
Any idea low power on this thing? Like dk can of be adjusted
Don’t think you can get much better than a bird meter.
I said I have an IFR com120b service monitor and also a Freedom service monitor. What would you recommend I use?
I would recommend you hook that rig up to a loose needled dosy meter and watch her swing. I bet that rig will beat those 50 watts of peak output. lol. 😂
Are you being compensated in any way for this RUclips Clip?
Yes he is a product salesman for the manufacturers.
@@beerye9331Not really, but ok. They specifically the me to say anything I want good and bad. Not paid to do this video, and dropped HamRadioPrep recently also.
Do you want one of these? I have some giveaway codes. I can send you one
@@HamRadioConcepts YT monetization, AdSense, promo code kick backs..link is in the description. You are a content creator only, we get it.
@@HamRadioConcepts No Eric, thank you for asking.
@@HamRadioConceptsEric id never be able to afford one of these if you can spare a give away id be really appreciative seriously being disabled it's hard to save up anything to buy.. that's your call I totally understand if you can't. But great video as all the others!!
Does this radio have pa function? Thanks
Yes it does
Nope first real comment Damn I kinda want one or a 6666 pro what you think?
Or even a quad 5v3
What do you think is the best value they offered me $40 off a qt80
Ham radio with echo. Not sure if that is legal on 10 meters as I never herd it. Not sure about them new made in China radios.
The echo is for the Cb part Don't use it when you're on the ham bands what's the problem?
@@CBPunisher1900 I figured as much as most Chicken Banders will buy it.
@@drsysopI've made more contacts on this "chicken band" you speak of, than you have on ham radio in your licensed career. Not sure why you are mad about that?
@@drsysop most cbers are on 7200 40m anyway ohh wait thats ham idiots not cbers lol
It’s all radio, surely?
The row of buttons above the screen is a poor design. The row forces the screen to be placed lower in an aesthetically unpleasing position and more obscure to read. A double row at the bottom would have been better.
Do you own one? (I do). I find the layout excellent personally. It's no issue at all for me, even in a mobile situation. 73
@@mostlypostie1agreed...
With the sales going on just pay a little more and get an 891, it’s a full 100 watts, it does more bands, it’s easy to open up, why bother with this one.
Why do hams tell me they are not interested in all the HF bands, they are only interested in 10 meters As a tech once in a while
@@HamRadioConcepts... probably sad hams, too many out there. Many happy hams on the 11 meter band.
@@HamRadioConcepts I can see your point. I just offer something to think about as an alternative. It’s all good.
