Just ordered one of the Ultem versions and and if it works out well for me through this fall season, I’m going to order additional ones for each of my family and extended family’s bug out bags; and and additional three for mine and son in laws edc dropbag/fanny bags. That’s for all you do and for keeping your prices so accessible to blue collar folk who want to ensure they protect their families by way of the preparation required for all our SHTF and EDC needs. To top it off, so many of your products are in fact heirloom items; yet another thing that brings great benefit to American families like mine. My introduction to you all was first by way of my wish to have my Marathon which was issued to me in the Marine Corps and I wore for nearly all 23 years and then 10 years into retirement. After sending it off for cleaning/servicing at its over 3 decades of wearing, I knew I wanted to preserve it for one of my particular children and would only wear occasionally. In my 23 year career as an Officer of Marines, the Marathon I was issued was stellar in all I’m environments. But being a HumInt and EW guy, we often fielded trial models of watches being bid to the DoD and the IC; so Luminox (of course, because the navy has some infatuation with them), Hamilton, Bulova, etc were all worn tested and reviewed for possible employment. But in organic Marine Corps units nothing could hold a candle to what the marathon did in every single aspect. There were of course also Maratac’s we used in various ‘Agency’ work and it was there in those positions that I knew I’d gladly wear a Maratac just like a Marathon. Even though I’m retired, I can confidently say that Marathon and Maratac are THE only watches I would want to wear/depend upon for anything and anywhere in this world. There are particular benefits that one has over the other, but those are task/mission specific where a Maratac is a better watch in the realms of jumping, shallow/murky water dives, ATAC, discreet ops, etc… whereas the Marathon is preferable in dynamic urban, long range recon, urban, and general field uses, etc… Fast forward to 5 years ago and I actually got a Maratac Large Automatic Pilot Ver II with the red crown as the replacement EDC watch I intend to wear until death. It was a choice between a second Marathon, a Hamilton, or a Maratac; I couldn’t be more pleased with having chosen the Maratac. Sure, my Marathon has sentimental and familial significance because it was issued to me when I was 19 hitting my first operational unit following school and I had been with me for over 3 decades now, but I know for certain that my Maratac with have much significance to the child/grandchild I will it to one day because in this, my second half of life outside of the Corps, it will have been the watch the whole family saw me wear nearly everyday. Despite a few other watches I’ve retained over the years as gifts from my wife, children, or retirement gifts, I only wear those to dinner here or there in occasion, but it’s the Maratac is what is strapped to me nearly 100% of the time. Just got mine and filled it up and I am very impressed it feels so sturdy and the thing throws a flame like a damn torch 10/10 even got my brother to get one bc he was jealous
