I was very happy to do this, as both Bandai Namco and myself are keen to help new players stick with the game. It's so satisfying to overcome difficulty in these games, but there's so much beyond that, and I hope guides like this can help new players experience it all. Thank you guys, for the opportunity. And thanks to many in the comments who are being way too nice hah
Was shocked to see Bandai Namco underneath the title, and immediately clicked on the video. He deserves the recognition 100%. He's an authority on lore, and I completely support him. His content is not like any other. I'm glad gaming companies are starting to recognize what he brings to the table.

Listen up bud. Stick with it. There are very few games like this, and none that are this good. However, this is probably a terrible starting point as an introduction… but it is also the endgame for all of it. If you can make it in Elden Ring, you can make it anywhere.
First watched Vaati's videos during the Prepare to Cry series for Dark Souls 1. Great content creator. Learned pretty much everything about the series from him. Excellent videos, excellent story teller, and I hope everyone who watches this checks out his channel to learn and enjoy these games deeper than just surface level. They are really deep and really awesome beyond just being fun games.
It’s crazy to see something like this actually happen. Good on Bandai Namco and Fromsoft for fostering this. Don’t have to say how awesome Vaati is, since he’s the reason most of us somewhat understand the stories of these games.
Huge ups to from for including vaati in an official guide, he deserves it so much. Great game from, and great guide vaati. Time to become and elden lord.
This was seriously MASSIVELY HELPFUL OMG. I was soooo frustrated after a couple of hours. I had no idea what anything is or what to do. Thank you for making this!
There's so much information in this that veteran players don't even think about. We just do it without thinking. This brings me back to when I first started
Vaati deserves all this and more. His videos have captivated me, guided me through these games, and helped myself fall for the From Software titles heavy. Props to Bandai for recognizing creators and giving one of the tried and true a feature spot for one of the best video beginners guides I've seen in a long time. Praise the Sun! and thanks Vaati for all of the tireless work and awesome content, you're amazing
Best beginners guide I've seen. Having now played a few days, THIS is the stuff I wished I had known before - all the little tips, tricks, fundamentals and how to's. So many of the beginners guides out there are just "here's the Church of Elleh, and make sure to go here and get your first Golden Seed".
Thank you very much for the guide! This is my first Dark Souls game and although I've figured out some of this through trial and error this was very helpful. Also, bonus points for not unnecessarily showing bosses/locations far into the game and using the beginning area to display all the methods of combat.
Its so cool they reached out to partner with you, thereby acknowledging creators in a way. Be it a marketing campaign or anything else i found it cool.
Vaati is the sole reason I tried Bloodborne out. His lore videos were perfect. Bloodborne ended up being my favorite game ever made, and my first platinum trophy. Since then I have purchased and obsessed over each Miyazaki game. Glad to see his videos getting full exposure.
I think it's so so beautiful that they did this with Vaati. FromSoft really got respect for their community and the relationship they have to their fans is the best company-customer relationship out there.
I wish I saw this a week ago! This is essentially the quick start guide and it would be awesome if this was accessible within the game! Not sure if you're an employee or just sponsored by namco due to your expertise, but their seal of approval is much deserved. Now I know where to go for desperately needed info on game mechanics, etc.
Yes VaatiVidya! I love seeing this on BN's official page! Your Lore videos are so essential for anyone delving into these mystical and indeed mythical worlds, and your delivery is perfect to match the mood of the games! keep it up! I cant wait for the full Lore videos for Elden Ring!
Vaatividya, congratulations, I love your videos, and seeing you reach this, is incredible, and Bandai, congrats for recognizing him, it is a very good attitude that can even push more people to thrive doing what they love
I personally believe this is From Soft best game. I am absolute garbage at the game but the amount of places and things you can do, make it possible for even someone new like me to enjoy the game. I cannot stress how helpful and awesome the mount and mount combat is, as well as the spirit summonings. They have made the difference for me to manage to kill something. I've died a lot but have enjoyed the game so much. You can make progress bit by bit and feel like you're advancing in the game.
I hope you hit that spot soon where it 'clicks' and you start to hold your own against enemies/boses. I was getting my face dragged through the dirt by everyone and everything for many hours in this game, so far. But after I leveled up and especially leveling up armaments and getting Ashes of War, I really started to match the game's rhythm. Good luck! :)
Thank you for a good beginner guide. I appreciate you taking the time to make a guide for those of us who aren't Dark Souls Masters. The tip that helped me the most was telling me where to find the past instructions if I forgot how to do something, which I did on several things LoL.
Whoa, never expected to see Vaati doing an official vid for Bandai. Been watching him since 2013, it’s great to see him get the recognition he deserves :)

Some people want easy difficulty in such games but all they need to do is watch deep guide like this before starting the game.
I literally had no idea that I was going to enjoy a game so much to the point where I almost forgot what it felt like to genuinely enjoy a game as you progress to get cool items and armor. I'm still trying to get used to the mechanics, I picked Astrologer for my first build because I really like using magic a lot, hopefully I'll find some items that regen or restore FP somehow.
There are even some charged mounted attacks I've found, like with Rogier's rapier that have a unique follow-up attack. So after the upward slash, if you then hit R2 again, you'll follow it up with an overhead piercing jab which is really effective for groups. I used it to ride into a group, charging up a heavy attack on the way in, killing an enemy with it, and then circling around immediately and stabbing a second one. Edit: haven't tested it with many other weapons so I don't know if every weapon has one.
