    But you see here chaz your wrong.
    The first Fire Emblem game a player should play to get into it is as followed: one of the most amazing Learning experiences that IS made.
    Playing this game will literally help you win every single Fire Emblem game without a sweat.
    Probably one of the most played fire emblem game too.
    not to mention it has one of most amazing story's in a game ever based of Kingdom vs Kingdom on a struggling land where one most choose a side in order to drive out the chaos and maintain balance.

      but honestly the issue with FE4 is that it is neurosis incarnate.
      When I played 15: I looked up nothing.
      When I played 6: I looked up the gaiden chapter requirements because I wasn't going to replay the game just to get the last 3 chapters.
      When I played 4: I looked up everything because every goddamn action you take ripples throughout the game. I made sure Lewyn got the Bargain Band because Forseti is integral to beating later chapters and repairing legendary weapons is stupidly expensive. I made sure to give Patty's father a return band because mission 7 is 100 times easier if you don't force Shanan to play babysitter. I made sure Finn was over leveled before the end of mission 3 so that defending Leonstar was viable. I made sure that Silvia died a virgin so that I could get the berserk staff and avoid dealing with Julius in chapter 10. Each of those things wasn't necessary but I don't see how I would've made it through FE4 without it.

    Fire emblem awakening was the first i played with no prior knowledge of the series other than it might have been the last game the studio that was in charge of it would make if awakening didn’t do well. I wasn’t disappointed and recommend it as the first game newcomers play, because it was the product of a team that had nothing left to lose and they went as all out as they could on it . They just forgot to give the characters feet but that’s okay.

And being the extremely smart child i was i got stuck on the first general boss and decided to restart, noticed hard let you skip the tutorial, ended up losing caeda first mission i got her, killed all the whitewings the first time i saw them. Lost half of my acting units when fighting camus lost lena before getting hamerene then decided to try and get aum. Thief took the staff before i could get to it and i again lost half of my acting army. By the final boss i had a vastly underleveled marth a handful of units i had never used and Beck. So yeah i never beat him.

      Not to be that guy or anything, but BECAUSE of this guy I checked out FE4 when I had no desire to play the games and not only has it become one of my favorite games ever when I had virtually no previous experience with the strategy game genre, but it has encouraged me to play through every game in the series in order including playing the originals and eventually their remakes. I'm still on FE5 but once that is done I will go to FE1-3 then jump ahead into FE6 and keep going until the newest released game.

    • @SpeedyHawk
      @SpeedyHawk 4 года назад +1

      @@mattthecompletionist2428 You're officially that guy.
      That's great that you really love FE4 and I'm glad it's sparked you to play the rest of the titles in order. I still stand by my point that FE4 is probably one of the most unique FE games in the franchise (Next to FE2/Echoes), and it doesn't do a very good job conveying it's mechanics to new players. (Such as weapon stars, leadership stars, marriage, bartering/gold etc.) Sure, you figure it all out probably by around Chapter 4, but it makes the first-time experience pretty hard to swallow. When you're playing a strategy game and don't exactly understand the basic rules of how it works, it becomes harder to strategize.
      I think you're a rare breed in this day and age because you must have a ton of patience to hop into a slow experience like FE4 and stick with it to completion.
      (Obviously this is just my opinion, and Chaz has pointed out to me that because I started with later entries, it probably set my expectations differently for what I want out of an FE game. I disagree with him but it clearly has some merit when people like you exist)

      Holy Serios, I might like Fire Emblem. Though I mostly stuck with the Waifus in Heroes, I wanted to play every Fire Emblem game to understand Heroes/Smash and the Continents in Fire Emblem! So Far I did a lot and still more to Go, I completed so far (In Order) Heroes,Warriors,Awakening,Fates B/C/R, Echoes:SoV,Three Houses,Shadow Dragon,New Mystery,Sacred Stones,Path of Radiance(Currently).

      @Sraphim Phyruh Yeah I get ya. For me I started with fates then awakening then echoes, I played them multiple times and I'm one of those who actually enjoy awakening and fates' mechanics despite their many flaws and loved echoes. My problem is going back to the old games graphic and mechanic wise tbh, i just can't get into them for some reason even though I would like to in the future.
      I know that's an unpopular opinion, even more for the hardcore fans, but that's how I feel.

    Now for a more fulfilling comment.
    My first FE game was Blazing Sword. Which is weird to say today, because it didn't have such a sub title; this was a time before I was the weeaboo I am today, and before I even knew of the "Rekka no Ken" title.
    Of course, this is because Super Smash Bros. Melee is what actually got me into Fire Emblem. Roy was by far my favorite newcomer in that game. This is before I even played somewhat competitively, so to me, Roy just felt a lot better than Marth (and because I am biased toward fire), so when I had heard tell of a Fire Emblem game coming to the U.S., which featured Roy's father, I was ecstatic. And while my main goal in getting that game was to find Roy's origins, I found I came to love the game for what it was and the characters that it DID feature (especially Lyndis).
    I don't really have a conclusive statement; I just wanted to share my story.

    I know this comment is pretty long overdue, but thanks to this video, I played Tear Ring Saga over a year and a half ago. Despite already being in the series already for a while before picking it up, playing Tear Ring Saga was an experience that I covet to this very day. I still believe it is one of the best tactical RPGs that I have played to date, so much so that now, in the present day, I am planning to make a fandubbed showcase of various story scenes from the game, as well as battle lines for the characters I have included.
    For that experience, the project, and introducing me to my man, Billford the armor knight, I wanted to thank you for sharing this vod. Wishing you all the best in your future content!

    The game I recommend is Conquest, but wait, lemme explain. While I do believe that game is difficult (shit I checked and see that I've reset over 1,400 times when I played the game), it teaches the player valuable lessons: patience and how to build effective strategy. That alone is something that other games, namely the open world games that are more like traditional RPGs, don't teach the player. It was my first game, and I became enamored with the complexity of the gameplay. Skills, weapons, the weapon triangle, the linear path which discourages but doesn't ultimately halt all grinding, everything in the game was crafted intricately to produce a punishing but satisfying experience. Due to the new(ish) nature of the game, the player cannot easily go online, get a rom, and abuse save states unlike in other games, so beating the game is something all up to the player and their mastery of the game rather than trying a strategy that obviously doesn't work and trying the same tired thing over trying to see if RNGesus will smile on you this time. Playing Conquest first made going into other games very smooth. Granted the only other games I've played are Echoes and Awakening, I imagine the mechanics of previous games won't go as deep as the ones in Conquest. This makes picking up other games in the series a not as daunting a task as I imagine it is for others who started with an easier game. Of course the story is like a trainwreck that just keeps getting worse the longer you watch, but the bad story made me appreciate games like Echoes in which the presentation was so stunning, I got over the few hiccups I had with the gameplay. It's a game that's simultaneously fullfilling when you complete it while also leaving you wanting more in terms of where the game falls short. This made me want to go to other games in the series to experience them and see what I was missing out on, and so far I haven't been disappointed (Mind you I've still only played 3 of the 17 games in the series, so things can change).

    • @Choops6969
      @Choops6969  5 лет назад +1

      i didnt get too much into depth and dont get me wrong i love conquest too, but the difficulty seems inflated to promote the DLC and My Castle abuse which is another form of FOMO imo. If you liked conquest give the other linear games a shot!

    • @henrygutierrez3243
      @henrygutierrez3243 5 лет назад

      I never learned how to properly use My Castle nor did I buy the DLC my first 3 times around which may have made my playthroughs a lot more difficult. I just think that if you can beat Conquest (normally), you can beat any game in the series if you set your mind to it.

I went with my older brother to his friends house for no real reason and brought my gba with me and was playing Super Mario World when out of nowhere my brothers friend rummaged through his drawer and handed me FE7 and said "play this game. you'll like it". • @Chilled_Soul
    @Chilled_Soul 5 лет назад +4

    Started with conquest (Actually it was really awakening that a friend lent to me but I don't really count it).
    I knew it was supposed to be challenging and honestly it was really scared about the idea of permadeath, so I played on casual hard-mode, even with Casual mode I enjoyed the challenge that the game gave me, and going in blind with all these new mechanics actually made me get game overs in a LOT of maps.
    Overall I LOVED the game so much I tried other games in the series, going down the list one by one and getting used to permadeath. Up until now I'm missing all the Japanese only games, and Shadow dragon.
    One day I lost my Conquest savefile due to some unimportant shenanigans but that pushed me to replay the game as I like to keep them "Complete" even if I never touch them again, this time going onto classic mode and holy shit the thrill of barely surviving chapter 10... It's incredibly satisfying.
    And while today i'm heavily biased towards Conquest absolutely loving the shit out of it even with it's criticized story, I still feel like I can recommend that game as a first, playing Casual doesn't hurt the experience at all, and once you feel ready to tackle the challenge in makes it so much richer too!

Didn't like the bulk of the first 3 books of RD, but started liking it a lot toward the end. Didn't play the DS/3DS games until more recently. Didn't like them as much. Only Awakening and Echoes felt somewhat close to GBA and Tellius level enjoyable playthroughs. Maybe that's because grinding and serious army building is what I like best in FE games.

You really switched my mindset about how I'll play in the future and I think I'll start this change with Blazing Sword.
    Maybe the best way IS could change everyone views could be to clearly indicate at the start that FOMO shouldn't be something to fear and to somewhat in someway reward and encourage players to not reset and keep their units dead, I guess... Thx 👍
