On the piano plate are three odd looking attachments (see 8:37 mark) and there's an odd piece of wood sitting above the fallboard on the rim crossbeam. Anyone know what that's all about?
Just noticed how long nails Daniil has! Very interesting. I'm always bothered playing when I have long nails as they hit the keys easily.. hmm. Very interesting. Is it bad technique to play more with the finger tips? I've noticed many of the younger pianists play more "flat" with their fingers. Perhaps I'm missing some key technique here? Something that has been discovered in the past 30 years?
People have different bodies with different histories of development and learning. There is no such thing like the perfect technique that fits for everyone. No matter if its the piano, the dribbling of a football, the pirouette or a cross in boxing - the great masters found their individually optimised way to do movements. This fact is mostly unknown to most teachers and coaches. It's also much more challenging to find out, which movement pattern fits better to a student. It's easier to teach the current "orthodoxy", it will fit to a sufficient large set of students.
