    Reachin' out to Malcolm Clark and John Coupland, you've just blown my mind, guys! The electricity at that concert was tangible. I was a guest of Richard Laskie, a St Paul's school buddy, who'd invited me. His sister was there too. I think she was visiting from the States. It's appropriate that I was the school rebel. White leather belt and long hair at one of the most prestigious fee-paying schools in London, it's probably what Richard liked about me. Looking back now maybe he was my alter ego! At the concert, I probably wore an outlandish shirt and matching trousers. Richard probably had on his tan suede fringe jacket ( all the rage in those days Lol!) I remember I was standing near Richard's sister when my knees began to give way so I placed my arm on her shoulder as I collapsed to the floor. Next thing I knew I was being helped to my feet by two comrades in arms ( the revolution had already started in the early 60s with the Beatles and the Stones ( as in Rolling ). My first words were:" Is Jim alright?" I was ushered outside into the cold September air and asked if I wanted my stomach pumped and what drugs I'd taken. I said I hadn't taken any. We stood outside the Roundhouse under a dark foreboding sky as I recovered my senses. Then I was escorted back inside the venue to meet up again with Richard and his sister. The only explanation for my ordeal was that there was so much dope being smoked and other substances consumed that there was very little actual oxygen. Lol! Long live The Doors!

    I was there too! Four shows in 2 days, only 5000 people per show, one of the first gigs I ever went to and still the best. The Airplane came on first, Grace Slick so understated and stood near the back - then the Doors and Jim was so opposite, so upfront, so different, he seemed possessed.

      check out my library playlists megan ive got thousands of rare gems from the underground music scenes 50s 60s & early 70s soul 60s & early 70s funk,late 60s to mid 70s jazz funk 50s 60s & early 70s blues.this next list is my biggest its got over half a million views.its called 60s top garage punk psych rarities.its got well over 3100 tunes & loads of it has organ & fuzz its the rawest & most experimental music ever made.most of this music is on small independent labels & has never been played on pay to play fakes radio.all true music lovers are most welcome i add to these lists weekly so get connected for free & enjoy music you never knew existed.great post mate ive always loved the doors the smokin' pig label put out loads of unreleased gigs on vinyl by the doors & hendrix.my advice to fans is keep looking cause they taped most of the doors gigs & there is still loads that hasnt been released officially peace...

    • @djbigleg3228
      @djbigleg3228 6 лет назад +3

      there must be well over 50 shows of the doors recorded live there are many delights that fans have still yet to hear.i had 7 videos back in the 80s & quite a few releases that may be unofficial on vinyl .sadly a lot of the new dvd releases are just pieces of shows so you dont get to hear the full show.but i advise fans to keep looking & you will find radically different versions of their songs.when they clicked the doors were a great live band.me personally i hear the doors on analogue vinyl its a totally different experience.im gutted that many labels today try to enforce a pointless digital only reissue program on vinyl.every reissue ive heard has huge chunks of the original recordings missing. digital tech is sonically inferior & incapable of recreating a full sound spectrum & labels are blatantly lying.when they say sacd can recreate a full sound spectrum.these inferior vinyl reissues are not true to how the musicians intended their music to be heard.ive got original mono & stereo versions on vinyl ive heard the sonic assault of totally unrestricted separate sound levels.the bass output is far superior the warmth distortion & reverberation is a thing of beauty the metal percussion is crisp & has true warmth & impact.the only thing superior about digital tech is the profit margins.im a musician trust me buy a record deck & a quality amp & speakers & you will enter another world called sonic bliss buy alive she cried a 1983 analogue lp release all records were analogue up until 1983 f are analogue rip ray & jim peace.

    My understanding is that The Roundhouse was just that, (a railroad term). A shed/enclosure for locomotives, that had a round turntable within that would have locomotives spun around to be placed onto outer storage tracks for storage or service purposes, all under one roof.
    There are some iconic photos of Marc Bolan/Tyrannosaurus Rex playing onstage there, with Howard Kaylan (Turtles, Flo & Eddie, Zappa) who regularly did back-up vocal work with T. Rex. They removed the tracks and so on, but I heard there was always leftover refuse on the floor (railroad ballast/stone) from it's former days as a railroad facility. I love the fact that they repurposed something like that for a concert venue.... Kinda like the old Warehouse in New Orleans. Or the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, TX. Or the old Armory in Wilmington, DE. Cool ideas, all. 😎

      We were there and stayed for both concerts. The Roundhouse wanted to clear the hall before the second concert but a lot of us stayed. Morrison was amazing, especially his "death" after being shot (drums simulating a shooting). We also saw the Airplane in Parliament Hill Fields a day or so before the Roundhouse. Maybe 100 of us in attendance and it got rained out. Those were the days!

People just don't know to look or what to look for. Also anyone recording on 16mm would have run out of film pretty quickly. Anyone taping would also have run out of tape at some point, and thought "enough for posterity, now let's go with it", I think. Jim says "is someone smoking?" Damn right they were.

    ❤ amo questo artista, le sue foto, i suoi filmati, sono attuali, non sembra che sia passato 50anni . Peccato che non l'hanno voluto aiutare, gli altri membri pensavano che senza jim riuscissero a fare lo stesso, illussi

    E eu querendo saber, durante anos, como seria esse show em cores. E olhando pro Jim, minutos a fio, da uma sensacao inexplicavel. imagine ficar perto desse homem, a energia que emanava dele.

      Que bom ler aqui em português! Sim, Felipe Cezar, é algo inexplicável a energia espiritual de Jim. Ele viveu a um só tempo o céu e o inferno dentro dele.
