This is the real deal. Nothing and nobody beats The Doors as a Band. They were so complete together. Never heard 4 really fabulous musicians play so good together. Makes me feel homesick in a strange way. Living in the wrong day and age, damnit.
I was a 1-year-old little boy living in the oilfields outside Bakersfield when they played this concert. Now I'm pissed that my Dad didn't take me to see The Doors!!
I've always thought Gomez share some influences here. Anyhow, I can't even begin to describe the influence Jim has had on my life. In so many ways. His poetry, songwriting and the musical compositions of Manzarek were so far ahead of their time it's not surprising society couldn't accept them. A tragic tale of magnificence.
Frank Lisciandro says that there's a lot of footage for Feast Of Friends that were never used, hope some day we can see all that in video form like The Hollywood Bowl!!
THANK YOU SO,SO,SO,SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS TRACK & FOR THE RARE VIDEO YOU EDITED ALSO-AMAZING!!! A great live clip of Jim & the boys late in their career's. Jim sounds good but sadly he wouldn't be with us for much longer after this recording :( Long live The Doors & their music & long live the Lizard King :) ;)
@7294smk Bakersfield, CA aka Nashville West was (and maybe still is) a thriving musical area in the 1960's. A lot of bands played there back in the day.
@GrizzlTooth You're right!!! at about 6:49 to 7:11 Jim throws in some lyrics from Land Ho that mix in well. If anyone finds any other Doors songs with parts of Land Ho ! Please post them!!! Thanx J
True story? Jim once said "I drink so I can talk to assholes, this includes me". Yeah he got drunk a fair bit, but so what? He wasn't constantly drunk, just listen to Salli Stevenson's interview with Jim Morrison here on the tube. The Jim Morrison portrayed in the "Doors" movie only shows one distorted side of him, plus the movie has about as much fiction as it does fact. For example in the movie Jim is at Ray's daughter's birthday party, but RAY DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A DAUGHTER! you know?
in fact I think he drank to stay rooted on earth (and talk to assholes...) cause his spirit was too high to live a human live...and he eventually got trapped by booze and drugs...
we all have our emotions to this band.. if we have emotions. why not say the best when your emotions run clear thru your body when you hear certain great legendary songs being played here and now.. who needs to argue the point, its feelings and let it be, like that
i'm so fucked up and amazed, that i don't even know what the fuck i'm talkin' about and again-i'm amazed.. i listened to this song soo many times-all the versions (live and studio)...(i don't know what i was going to say or that i'm saying right now)... but... note the lyrics... 6.49 7.10 tnx for the soundtrack and footage.. peace
Those Bakersville 'Okies' were either to strait-or stoned to applaud! Myself, came close to seeing them in Miami, but the old econoline brokedown in Perry Fla, and then, the irony, we got busted, hitchn' in Melbourne (JM's birthplace). Course, JM got busted that night too. Always heard the vibe was you had to be down to not be annoyed with JM live, but that Ray, Rob and John were always Pro, and carried him. That was cool. JM-RIP. Ever see the 13th Floor Elevators live? Jesus on a pogo stick.
the ship of fools was a ship in the middle ages that was all asylum inmates packked off to sea to wander the blue....each port they stopped in was high entertainment for the villagers...Jim is referring to this custom
I did something very similar with Celebration of the Lizard. I synced all of their best versions together and it sounds great and I synced a lot of footage with it too. Go check it out on my channel.
@Chrisdrumz yes and in my opinion 70/71 was them at there best. i know jim was about fucked physically but music wise was alot more bluesy, heavier and better. Shame, i reckon they prob had at least another one or two blues albums left in them. Rest in piece jim, ill see you in july
If the future is made from the truth, but we read the past, we are only fools, we sense the now and forget to understand, we feel the warmth of our woman, and we stop looking for the Truth, because how fake May have been September comes true, and October gets cold, October U2, my darling, They say it is your Birthday, Happy birthday too, Thou, Dr P&G. ;)))))))))))))))))))):----))))))! Oei. Auw.
yeah well at least hes not a dinosaur of rock like jagger and his cronies nowadays;) lol his legacy lives on and its better that way in the long run.;)
@indio77777 No dude, I actually think Densmore was the weakest link of the Doors. He was way to jazzy. If we would of worried more about the groove insted of answering Jims vocals they could of had a much fatter sound live. Don't get me wrong, the Doors are and will always be my favorite band and I do respect John D but even Jim wanted John out a couple times, but they were already signed and everything so they stuck with him.
The Doors needed exactly John Densmore not John Bonham or Keith Moon or whoever people suggest, Densmore was perfect for them, they didn't need "fatter" or whatever sound, it wouldn't have been the Doors then, they sounded exactly like they should have and John was a perfect drummer that's why they "kept" him not because they "stuck" with him. I like him more than anyone else.
@Will McDougal @ haha that's a great answer Will, you choose peace in this war torn era, you must be surprised for getting a reply after 12 years are you lol. And above all it's f.....g judgemental. 12 years for someone to stab your back. I am even more surprised to get it back on the same day, you're much faster than I am given that you wrote it when I was 44. Your comment is so old it probably became national treasure by now. I'm glad you're still around just like me.
saying that densmore was one of the best drummers ever is going a little too far don't you think? ever heard of john bonham, buddy rich, gavin harrison, jojo meyer, virgil donati, benny greb, david garibaldi, terry bozzio, steve smith, dave weckl, vinnie colaiuta, steve gaad, ginger baker,etc.etc.etc....actually he wasn't even in the top 1000...but the doors were great for the particular sound they had (and jim's lyrics) and he was adequate in that band

Great jazz_rock song, ecology rock, loved the way they jammed live on this song

Compare The DOORS '68 to The DOORS '70 and you have 2 completely different bands both visually and musically. Amazing.
sweet! Land Ho is one of my favs!!!
Like the little "Land Ho" inclusion at the end of the song.
Frank Lisciandro says that there's a lot of footage for Feast Of Friends that were never used, hope some day we can see all that in video form like The Hollywood Bowl!!
A millon thanks great clip,R.I.P.JIM WE MISS U.

wow, this is rare stuff
Great video thanks from me too.
Jim had it all - money, fame a great job - and he pissed it all away. He's the 3rd member to join the 27 club.
@GrizzlTooth You're right!!! at about 6:49 to 7:11 Jim throws in some lyrics from Land Ho that mix in well. If anyone finds any other Doors songs with parts of Land Ho ! Please post them!!! Thanx J
Densmore, one of the best drummers ever. I'm sure you will all agree.

Melting keyboard solo by Ray Manzarek. Amazing song!!.

@7294smk Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and Dwight Yoakam, all are from the Bakersfield area, a.k.a. Nashville West.
Ship of fools!!!!!!!
Ray is great here !
Fantastic Lost Hit!
@Forgetthenight towards the end of this performance of ship of fools, Jim morphs the song into Land Ho, listen!
All time Rock Group = Jimbo on vocals, Hendrix on guitar, Syd Barret on bass, Moon on drums. Hella epicness
Sorry bruh, but who is syd barret
@@aarongoldstein8472first singer of Pink Floyd
My music
Yea, Neal Young said it best (yet he lives on and on and on!)
Bakersfield, yeahhhhh!!!
@doors21st actually, check out Ship of Fools live in Dallas...i think they morph land ho into ship of fools
the ship of fools was a ship in the middle ages that was all asylum inmates packked off to sea to wander the blue....each port they stopped in was high entertainment for the villagers...Jim is referring to this custom

🥰
great, great band. how can i get the entire video?
😍⚡😍🌷🌷🌷
@igottheblues1 is there such a thing as "the best guitarist, best drummer, best singer, best drummer ever?"
Tal Vez El Nombre Verdadero Es *"Ship Of Fools / Land Ho! / Ship Of Fools (Continue)"*
@orangewestpro except this is a gibson g101 in this video
I could be wrong, but would this be the last film footage of the four of them in concert on American soil?
I think Jim "phoned it in" on this one. Hate to say it. I love the Doors. If you take an honest listen to it I think you'll agree.
Hey that's Tony Funches at 0:12
He atached parts of "Land Ho!" in this.
I wonder what song they're playing in the vid cuz Densmores hitting the drums really lightly..... Ne 1 have ne ideas?
When will they release this on CD?
Does anybody else think, that the living person playing the most similar music to The Doors is Nick Cave?
I wonder if Buck Owens was at this show.
I did something very similar with Celebration of the Lizard. I synced all of their best versions together and it sounds great and I synced a lot of footage with it too. Go check it out on my channel.
@GrizzlTooth Good, but this is "Ship of fools"

Used this video on a Doors Examiner article!

i can't post the comment i wrote!!?!... this is a test!!
yeah well at least hes not a dinosaur of rock like jagger and his cronies nowadays;) lol his legacy lives on and its better that way in the long run.;)
lol
I laugh to, he did his fair share of lsd when the Doors first got together, Jimbo was an alcoholic and this is what ultimately done him in.
Dont you get it?;)! lol
@pantherion82 Yes,even Doors are better.
wow Bakersfield!!!!
it is in butt fuck nowhere
been there smells like cows
Jim didn't care about money or fame.
Bit of a fuck-up at 0:52 :-) Ray plays the wrong chord/arpeggio. The joy of live music -- great!
He was still singing good but he was playing fucking Bakersfield. WTF

eh, John was a good jazz drummer, but I think a rock drummer would of done the Doors more justice. To each his own though.
