The fun thing about DOOM! is that while no one hard cast it, everyone experienced it at least once because Yog generally would kill its owner when it cast this.
the classic 'yogg summons a full board, into DOOM and mills you to death', hearthstone moment fr fr
I’m convinced that DOOM! was only made just to make casting random spells from from cards like Yogg worse and I love it for it.
Even better with pre-nerf Yogg so he could just keep casting more Draw to Fatigue you harder.
Losing to DOOM is peak hearthstone
I think a niche use for 'DOOM!' would be essentially to be a 'second' Twisting Nether in a highlander deck.
Not showing him Myra's unstable element is illegal.
True. I was expecting it the whole time but it didn't come
True
already showed him it in another another video i think
And Octosari
Or Cornelius Roame. That card was very strange
Rarran looking good in his history professor outfit
Ted Mosby energy lol
rarran has made a lot of comments about my mother
Based
@@Doctor_Trees I thought the same lmao
Both him and Northernlion shop at same men's warehouse
I see crystal merchant as "as long as this minion is on the board, you have a second hero power which is 1 mana : draw a card". Suddenly it seems really good.
It's both better and worse than that. It's worse since you'll have to wait until next turn before you can play your new card, but better because it only costs 1 mana no matter how many similar effects you're triggering.
yeah, i dont know if im remembering correctly but dude was tweaking. this was in every druid deck. One massive factor was that it had 4 health. Almost nobody could deal with it and the ones who could, Had to deal with it and waste theyr turn. Big no no against a druid.
OG hearthstone players will remember the Mukla + Divine Favor combo
Omg I too old to be reminded of this
holy shit I didn't even know I had this memory
I think presenting the cards in REVERSE chronological order (new -> old) could be super entertaining for these card catagory videos.
Would love to see CGB and Cimo’s reactions as they have to justify worse and worse cards
being viable as the game’s power gets walked back before their eyes
Underrated idea honestly, that sounds super cool
That's a hilarious idea. Cards just getting worse, but being more and more viable.
33:08 "It's Druid, so its broken" - no truer words have been spoken
novice engineer was nerfed, because people complained it was 'too good' of an early drop draw card so that's why it has the 1/1 statline, this nerf happened way back in closed beta though.
I haven't played the game since 2016 and I kept getting tripped up by that. I remembered different stats on it.
Can't believe that was in closed beta. I still feel weird seeing it as a 1/1 😂
@@jodyrappin I feel like it had to have lasted after that.
Damn I didn’t know that I love little bits of info like that so thanks bro 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Yeah it was 1/2 originally. It was played a lot. After they nerfed it to 1/1, the Loot Hoarder (2/1) with a deathrattle: draw a card overtook it as the superior 2 drop for card draw.
Rarran's pokerface has been getting worse lately but it's way funnier when he can't hold it in.
He already tells Cimo so much anyways. It’s barely a guessing game.
I don’t think they can see rarrans camera
Yay another one of these! I had been binging these last week so happy to catch a new one right as it comes out
These videos are my not so secret addiction.
oh my mr. Rarran looking sophisticated today!!! damn
He be lookin' sexy when he gaf about his clothes 😂😂
These comments can't be real lmao
@@mungobestmage it’s as real as the day and night cycle 😊
@@NamTran-jo1ksis the day and night cycle real?
@@mungobestmage the anwer you seek already lies in front of you
14:48 should have showed the Savjz clip where he pulls off the Howlfiend + Treachery + Defile combo and empties his opponent's hand, just for them to top deck Divine Favor.
20:40 another thing with DOOM! is that control decks often had larger hand sizes, so DOOM! would, against a full board, just overdraw you a million cards because if you already have 8 cards, play DOOM! going down to 7 any more than 3 minions is burning you cards and even with only 3 you would still burn a card at the start of the next turn.
I can confirm, I liked using Atiesh with expensive board clears back in the day and I always regreted playing ruin because it just burns so much stuff. Also this card is one of the absolute classics when it comes to Yogg killing you with fatigue damage.
I absolutely love these series with Covertblue and Cimo!
Let’s go Rarran! 💪
21:27 slight correction here: the yugioh community doesn't call these "engine requirements," we call them "Garnets." These are cards that in your deck give you a huge pay off, but you don't want to draw them because they make the combo much worse or outright stop them from being used.
They're called "Garnets" because they're named after "Gem Knight Garnet," who is a no-text beat stick monster but is used with Brilliant Fusion to fuse it in the deck with a card you already have to gain an extra normal summon, which is basically the yugioh equivalent of mana-cheating. So back in the day you would sometime hear your opponent sigh and then say "I drew the Garnet."
lol I remember playing gem knights back in the day when that was happening and I heard my opponent say “I drew my garnet”, looked down at my hand and the 3 copies of gem knights garnet, responded “so did I”
We do call them engine requirements garnets is kind of a boomer term now
I think garnets are like, dead-dead in your hand. For engine requirements I think you can still NS and get some plays off of it.
Hearthstone community calls them Patches
@@ItsPForPea yo it's you
Missed the opportunity to show him Cornelius Roame as so many HS players got baited by it. 6 mana 4/5 draw 2 at base and each turn cycle that he survives 4 extra card sounded INSANE.
I think Cimo already saw it before
One of the important thing about darkshire librarian is that you can still play it when you only have that card, then it become a 2/3/2 deathrattle draw a card, without the discard downside
I’m picturing Rarran sitting next to Cimo at the barbershop pulling up cards while someone is cutting Cimo’s hair lmao
0:10 LETS GOOOO
Cimoooo in the house! Love to see you trying to pars and dissect the logic behind hearthstone cards I had to suffer through, and some I enjoyed playing. Lol
Rarren dressing up is the best thing. May the dirty tshirt meta never return
Has he already seen Juicy Psychmelon? I think it's maybe one of the craziest cards to be totally okay in standard (and wild after the Aviana nerf). It's an especially weird one because it's so obviously good that the devs simply didn't print more targets for druid to search with it until rotation, but the card itself wasn't actually played as much as players anticipated.
IT'S A CHEAPER SPRINT THAT TUTORS
I love that card for druid. It's just an otk dream
Rarran looking very dapper
18:25 fight promoter is really difficult because of how it's designed. Sure, you could handbuff fight promoter and draw 2 cards. But why not include a different better card that isn't just a mid pile of stats? 6 mana 6/6 draw 2 is good. But this isn't a 6 mana card, and handbuff wants to draw more things before buffing your hand. The classes that were focused around handbuff, warrior, paladin, and hunter, were not draw heavy classes. So you want to draw to play your handbuff, but you want to play your handbuff to draw with this.
Haven’t even watched the video but I can’t wait to see rarran not know the history of a card being bad or good.
Missed opportunity to title this Yu-Gi-Oh player LOSES HIS HAIR over hearthstone cards
I didn't think I'd hear a Yugioh player cry out "What the fuck's a chicken?" today, but I'm glad it happened. Thanks Rarran.
Not showing him 7 mana sprint is CRIMINAL, he would have lost his mind
He knows Sprint
I 'think' it was Murloc Knight that Paladin was after with the Curator
Edit: having put some more thought into it, i think Paladin also ran Mukla's Champion as the Beast draw (could also have been Kodo)
there was also corrupted seer which was *fine* ig for more controlling decks
'WTF is a chicken!?' -Cimo
Nice video rarran! I find it inconvenient to watch your streams and are rarely entertained by moments from those, so I'm glad you still are making non-streamed content for us, you're the GOAT
The thing with divine favor was that it wasnt played in classic where it was printed because paladin didnt have an aggro deck that could utilize it, as more and more cards got added divine favor got to the point where it needed to be hall of famed
Always a treat to see ramranch visiting our fellow Yu-Gi-Oh community! Keep it up out there buddy.
18:37 The warlock hero Nemsy makes that sound when Doom is played.
Okay but Gnomish Experimenter straight up looks like Count Olaf from A Series of Unfortunate Events
i love hearing ranrans takes on cards from when i used to play in tournaments. those 2016 cards are crazy for the time but now are like meh i havent played HS in a few years so seeing those new cards blows my mind some times but the old cards alwasy bring a smile to my face seeing them get praise
Novice Engineer was also in OTK Pally if im not wrong.
I was expecting that guy that draws on each player’s upkeep and end step to appear.
I haven't played hearthstone in six years, but I knew the murloc draw was unplayable precisely because of what Rarran said "it isn't a murloc".
The murloc for Curator was usually the 6 mana 2/3(?) that did either 2 or 3 to all other minions.
That's obviously if you weren't playing a deck like Anyfin Paladin which ran actual Murlocs to tutor.
the gnome engeneer was played in a tone of budget decks in early hearthstone
I loved Valdris Felgorge. I think he was fine. You could play 1 mana mountain giants and 11/11 abyssal summoners which was fun. The format was slower then as well.
I was legit thinking about how much I like Cimo's hair at the start of the video, then he got a haircut mid video ahahahah
Cimo mentioned Dragonqueen Alexstrasza when talking about the Big Ol' Whelp, but for the wrong reason. Her effect forces you to only add one copy of every card, which makes decent cards premium as you can't add two copies of your best card draw.
Cimo clocked Valdris really quickly lol
I need another episode of this with stuff like myra's, Octosori, etc.
I was hoping for Ultimate Infestation. The rare 10 mana card that is worth it. People were all over the place prerelease because 10 mana is a lot to ask even for druid given you don't have a follow up that turn. Generally betting against 10 mana cards is a good play but this was an exception.
kinda missed to talk about tempo rogue with finja and dragons when talking about the curator. that deck was really good for a short time
Celestial alignment with lady anacondra with new malygos combo was insane in wild
Celestial Alignment with Lady Anacondra was monstrous in standard, too. You only really need those two to solitaire your way to victory, the rest is just druid doing druid things with whichever cards are legal at the time.
It would be nice to see those cards, that Cimoooooooo is talking about, to understand his refferences.
20:30 The actual problem with doom was that if you cast it lategame you just mill yourself and die to fatigue lol
@3:00 As a 1/2, Novice Engineer saw a LOT of play. The 1/1 took that down a lot because singular Hero Powers took her out for free. As a 1/2 she at least kind of threatened to trade up via Hero Power into 3/2s without falling to a Hero Power herself.
I'd say Novice became basically unplayable at 1/1. Got a lot worse in slow matches, may as well go for the 2/1 on Loot Hoarder even if slower, Acolyte of Pain was only 1 cost more and a lot better, etc.
novice was played in miracle rouge in 2014 and freeze mage up untill the ice block ban
Man I remember when nat pagle was in every deck.
9:00 rarran repeatedly trying to say something to help Alex and Alex just talking and not letting him 💀
Cimoo with the pitch perfect Rarran impression near the end
My old mind when I saw the big ol whelp was "isn't this just a worst azure drake?"
I feel like Cimoo forgot about the existence of Spellbook of Judgement
20:20 10 mana "destroy all minions burn 5 cards+1 at start of next turn" all control did not want too much draw (warlock only had about 1-6 cards in the deck that draws like 1 card) has fatigue was real in mirror matches
24:00 wasnt the other murloc the one that did damage to all except murlocs?
ye, corrupted seer
rarran ready to join the league of explorers with his new coat
Big ol whelp, it's my boi. I miss you big fella.
rarran lookin like he bouta give me detention 😩🥵
I will never get tired of those videos
Not showing Untapped Potential before merchant is criminal
Ngl, the jacket suits you ^^ merry Christmas Rarran
malygos spellweaver was actually super good in druid for a period of time, where you would just ramp and play some top hand cards, before the deck was nerfed to the ground
In the early days on the game novice engineer was nice because it basically punished any 2/1s while drawing a card. Early HS was very heavy on power and health mattering. Like Yeti was so good because it punished 4/4s with effects. Now the game has so many effects on cards that while stats matter it isn't as hard a counter like it was at launch.
Rarann looks like Billy Butcher to me today. Dudes dripped out of his mind
If Malygos type of cards was in Shadowverse, it would probably have the effect also "reduce spell all cost to 0 of those cards you draw"
Never seen that guy in my life and i never played whatever his game is but i like his energy.
As someone who absolutely adored Plot Twist Warlock, how dare you say those things about Valdris
that was such a fun deck
I will say, I kinda love that drawing cards is actually fairly niche in Hearthstone. Not every deck wants a ton of draw cards because you can simply build your hand over time. But at the same time, low cost draw just gives you something to do so why wouldn't you at least run a few draw cards?
Control decks, for instance, don't really need draw at all. The only time they'd want it is as a bonus effect. A card that does something towards their game plan but also draws 1.
You can really see the power creep when you look at the curator being played a ton, to Valdris never being played
There was a fair amount of Coldlight Oracle run with Curator on classes that didn't have good access to draw.
"Well done" is nuts 🤣
Mr. Rarran being dripped tf out was certainly unexpected
“Don’t call me out” lmao
I'll be honest, I love Rarran's jacket.
big ol whelp is just a good boy
this was an amazing idea
For Curator you could just put in Amalgams to hit whatever type you weren't running.
"You love your random" yes... until you don't
47:49 Not exactly the same, but Mirage of Nightmare was pretty darn close for yugioh standards
26:28 who tf is alice
I'm pretty sure the number 1 murlock for the curator was Finja the flying star. 2/4 stealth, whenever this murlock attacks and kills summon 2 murlocks from the deck.
Curator used to tutor corrupted seer for the murloc so you could wipe for 2 damage as a backup.
I always find these hearthstone ones so difficult. A lot of the concepts should make sense, but HS feels like bizarro world when you get the context lol.
The reason Doom was bad is you'd only play it in control, but in control you usually keep a fairly full hand, so the draw actually hurt rather than helped.
The only reason Druid got sway with UI was because ramp and armour gain lowered hand size.
Crystal merchant when it came out was played in like every version of through including Agro because I have the potential withdrawal extra cards 1/4 body for two mana both deck ran a ton of 2 drops. Card was bonkers for Druid
My favorite series is back!!
Novice engineer was actually a 1/2 initially and was nerfed because it was in almost every deck
Wow Rarran, How could you not show Cimo Cornelius Roame, his brain would have melted
The murloc you were thinking of for the curator was cold light seer. 6 mana deal 2 DMG to all non murlocs
Hey, Rarran, how about showing your guests cards with deckbuiliding restrictions? Like three brothers from KotFT, or Genn/Baku, or pre-nerf Kazzakussan
controll decks (like true control) didnt wanted to play card draws too muth in classic, since fatigue was a real scenario in with games cud end. Even warriors kept acolytes sometimes to not filter them, since it was about out-value the oponent in some 2 for 1 card trades then about drawing cards, since the fatigue is real danger.
Name a more iconic duo hearthstone and 9 mana cards that don't see play
The issue with Malygos and frankly any other expensive draw a billion type cards is even if they are potentially insane rates you have to consider what decks will actually play them....slower decks. Malygos is never drawing more than like 4 cards because the deck that would run it is probably going to have 7+ cards in hand on turn 9.
The ONLY exception to this rule is Druid and like Ultimate Infestation or Overflow because Druid doesn't play the same game and is also never casting them on turn 7+ or at their usual rate (see pre-nerf Kael'thas nonsense they did).
Not sure if you showed it to him already, but was waiting for Nat Pagle as one of the weirdest card draw options that actually saw play
ive seen classic yog fill the board, doom, then fill the board then doom again causing the one playing it to insta die and it was hilarious, i miss classic yog
20:17 was played by toast in his meme madeive control lock
rarranch forgot about the malygos druid deck efing people up with a bunch of spells, otk style 😆
