That engine access is shocking! You'd think they'd at least provide easy means to check oil daily. I'm guessing you don't use her in inland waters which need a Boat Safety Certificate, as I suspect your average BSS examiner would have issues with the access arrangements for power isolators. The engine hours are crazily low. On inland waterways, a lot of ex. hire boats are heading up towards 10k hours, and often still running well, as they get weekly checks and multiple oil changes per season when on hire. The biggest killer tends to be sulphur in the oil of infrequently used engines mixing with condensation to make suplhuric acid, which then corrodes internally.

Yes I am definitely going to change that for the better, She is a sea going vessel and did not need a BSS. I fully agree that it needs addressing. The boat had been maintained very well from its previous owner but like all boats it’s a continuous battle to keep everything tip top. My boats get well looked after and I change the oils soon as they start to look dirty 🤣. I also keep a fully maintenance log listing all the parts and dates that they are changed as it’s much easier to keep a good record. It’s great to get feed back from others like yourself who definitely understand the marine diesel engines. Thanks for your support of channel ❤️
