Hamelin is in a class by himself. Total control of the instrument, with nuance, power, subtlety, finesse, and exquisite musical sensibility. Perfect pedal use. I can parse out every note in the left hand at times when the right is dominant. No one quite like him.
Finally, a stellar concert pianist who does not need to contort his face into deranged and painful expressions while he plays. A pleasure to watch and hear.
