You can convert it to solid state ignition
What a job, very nice. I have the same and I try to dismount it. Could you advice me how to dismount the shaft ? Should I dismount the engine from the base?
Thanks for you reply. Laurent
I have about 7 videos on stripping it down and putting it all back together..
@@themowerman Thanks a lot Micks. Great videos. I found the mounting but the shaft dismounting not. May be you could help me and explain how yo dismount it ? Have a good day. Laurent
@@laurentbrahy2377 from what I remember I used a big soft blow hammer to get the shaft out of the engine.. yes take the bolts out of the engine so it can move ..

Hi, I'm also in the process of restoring an old Ransomes Marquis (51). Do you know what kind of washers are installed between the landrolls? The description in the parts list is indicating 'washer', but I'm not sure wether these washers need to seal the axle or not. The parts number is 'MBC3186' and the washers are installed between the distance piece and the landrolls. Some pictures show a simple washer, but does this actually lead to some leakage when greasing the axle with oil? Thanks in advance
Hi.. is this part number correct as in not seeing one with MBC?
Yes, the number is correct. If you google on " Marquis_5161_Serie_YM_YP_YL_YJ_YK ", the parts manual will appear as search result (from the shop.ransomes-jacobsen website). On page 37 (ref. page number on the bottom of the page) part number 'MBC3186' is listed as number 28. I'm only concerned about some oil leakage when greasing the axle. Therefore I'm interested in your opinion / experience ...
Is it a 3HP Briggs?? it reminds of a restore I did on my John Deere 8-32 Snow blower. That snow blower was a life memory for me. I used the camera on my laptop to film it. 8 years ago. Your Marquis looks great. When you were laying the motor in it looked like you were putting a baby down to sleep. :-) You have something to be proud of there sir.
Have you seen this. i am sure you have. ruclips.net/video/BqBpehZKcjk/видео.html
It's a f12 sloppers engine by the company BAS yeah I have see the other video before. Nice mower..lol yeah hold it like a baby lol
Is the spark plug cap a suppressed spark plug cap? Or unsuppressed?
@@AL-dh9sf what do you mean
@@themowerman so I’m currently restoring a ransome and someone has put on a “regular” insulated cap. I’m looking for a replacement but the only non insulated one I can find has a suppressor in it which is a resistor to stop electrical noise. If you have a google for an old qualcast suppressor spark plug cap you’ll see what I mean. Basically I wondered what spark plug cap is used on the Ransomes as at I want to fit the correct one when I Resto it
