The actual origin story of Megatron & Optimus is that they used to be friends, but differences in ideals lead to their "civil war" which is what most people are familiar with.

G1 & Armada are what I'm most familiar with. Beast wars are my overall favorite, but I think that's a whole other canon altogether lol.

I think a lot of people are pre-judging it way too soon off of an initial trailer. The director has already confirmed that the first trailer focused on the buddy elements as well as the humor because he wants it to be welcome and inviting. However, the film is about the divergent paths that both Optimus & Megatron begin to take that eventually leads to the war and that it will get dark quickly. This is supposed to be a trilogy...this first movie is only the beginning. By the end when it's all said and done, I believe finally seeing the relationship Optimus & Meg had as friends will make the tragic turns that the war takes even more poignant. In addition, the Transformers Bible was used to craft the film. People forget stuff like the psuedo-organic life likeTurbofoxes are straight up from G1...Mirage used to hunt Turbofoxes, remember? Even Megatron's D-16 identity is a callback to the Japanese naming convention as well as Marvel Comic's black helmeted early Megs. Starscream, Shockwave, and Soundwave all look bang on if you pause that throne room scene. I'm excited and I think this will turn out way better than some of the G1 grognards are giving it. Hell, the Quintessons look badazz. I'm hyped for this.
That’s what trailers are freaking for 🤦🏾♂️ They’re advertising to try and get your money for the product. Why would I let them cook if I hated the promo🤨⁉️ Either they give us a trailer that better convinces us or f🤬ck this film

tbh I wasnt convinced at first but the more I watched it again and again, tbh this movie is gonna be pretty amazing cause it would be fun to see how Megatron and Optimus Prime turned seperate ways with Megatron turning into a Decepticon and Prime turning into an Autobot👍

I understand what's he saying. It's just most Transformers series are based in the Autobots either being stranded on earth, or protecting earth for some reason, or another.
It's not really later into those series that they go back to cybertron. Which is where I think the Live Actions were going once they introduced Unicron, but honestly who knows. Those movies kinda made a mess of the canon lol.

This is an origin story probably thousands of years before of where we know these characters. Also remember when Optimus was younger he was called Orion Pax were he looked and sounded different, so one can assume he’ll look and sound familiar half way through the film. In certain moments we see glimpses of serious moments and along with the war in cybertron. I think they only showed us the first quarter of the movie and the more serious war aspect of the origin story is still yet to be seen.
It’s goofy but doubt it will stay like that the full movie there is going to be a turning point when it gets serious for sure
It does look goofy, but I think that's a good thing for the series. Transformers has so many iterations just like TMNT, and this one definitely looks interesting and funny. I will definitely be watching this when it comes out, and I would love if this movie has continuity later on as a first in its au.
I gotta be honest, the movies feels exactly how I played with Transformers as a kid.

Here’s the thing of course they’re gonna act different. They’re younger. They’re not the leaders they are going to be later on those guys are older wiser, and they have more battle experience. These guys are young.

That’s why I think they went the goofy route. It’s gonna start off goofy and it’s gonna get so dark with megatron be trying him in the end.

It shows that before the War, they were more... Free spirited? I guess you could say.
Less burdened by the choices they made in their millenia-length conflict.
And as time pass, and the burdens of their choices build, they develop and become the Characters we grew up knowing.
Yeah. I wonder if the second film will be about building cybertron up, giving its iconic city landscape & fighting back against foreign threats, and the 3rd being some sort of pre war period before megatron goes on the war path, possibly because of some class wars going on like in the 2005 idw.

well it is of a time before everything got serious and decepticons and autobots were a thing so i can understand the goofiness ,im just glad this part of the story is actually getting adapted beacause its only been in the comics so far
@@SMunlimited well that’s the thing, I’m not digging or into the whole goofiness of this movie. It looks/seems unnecessary to me (the cringy and possibly forced jokes like it’s the MCU or something), but thats just me tho in my opinion. It ain’t “spend my money at the movies” type of TF movie to me, but I’ll read what happens on Wikipedia when it comes out just out of curiosity. I hope you enjoy it tho.

I LOVE Transformers, been a fan since G1 and i've liked or loved most Transformers comics and cartoons from the 80's up to now. The only thing I don't like is the Michael Bay movies.
This trailer alone has a lot of deep lore in it from the last 40 years of comics and cartoons and if they have more in the movie i'll be happy. If they show or reference McAdams Old Oil House i'll love it.
this movie will seperate the old fan with the new fan by what they think about this movie lol. Old fan knew Orion Pax and those final good old days of Golden Age on cybertron before civil war. New fan will think this movie odd and doubt it. Also this movie look goofy I think because they want to target the young audience too so that whole family can enjoy final moment with Orion and his friend before the serious civil war coming
the thing is transformers has been unserious, in the original cartoon (Which takes place post war on cybertron) has optimus prime and the gang playing basketball, even in the later cartoons like transformers animated (which also takes place during the war), the main cast of autobots in the series were not even soldiers but construction workers, a rag tag group of bots in over their heads. The unserious nature of this movie is the appeal because we as an audience knows what comes after this, the tonal shift between optimus and megatron being best buds compared to war torn army generals who have been through so much in the many years to come is what makes the story of these two characters specifically interesting. We should critique this movie on what it is, not what it isn’t
There is multiple origins depending on when you became a transformers fan. One known one is from transformers prime when ratchet tells the humans of Optimus and megatron history, back when Optimus was Orion and megatron as megatronus, he didn’t have a name so he took on a name of a past prime. Them becoming friends till later the fallout happened when Orion became a prime.

3:13 Rhinox defeated Megatron by farting on him, Optimus saying BOOBIES and play basket ball in g1, Beast megs wearing a powered wig, Rat trap making sex jokes, TFA is filled with comedy. Transformers has always been goofy as hell.
They even played football in g1 lol
Optimus was not always a prime, the personality in this movie is pretty come to how he is described in the shows
I think the reason why it shows the goofiness is because they wanted to show that they were young and happy once, you know, show some humanity in these autobots
The only reservation I have about the movie is the voices. Not that they're bad, but that they don't sound robotic. At the start when Orion and D-16 are talking to one another, there's this metallic reverb to their voices. Not much, but enough to make it seem like these are robotic voices.
However, for the rest of the trailer (apart from Alpha Trion in the cave) they all sound like normal humans talking.
I Like it. Origin story. No humans. Young transformers. Before the war. I interested
I forget how much of an impact Michael Bay has had on the transformers franchise, because G1 seemed pretty goofy to me
Agreed, my brother and I grew up on Rescue Bots and started rewatching the older series a few years ago and it is almost just as "kiddy" as something like rescue bots. I think people are just blinded by nostalgia and the animation style of modern children's oriented media

I could tell that the guy in the middle wasn’t feeling this before saying a word because that’s how I felt. Hollywood needs to learn that everything today doesn’t have to be a damn comedy. As a result the guy with the dreads is the only one in this group who will definitely buy tickets for this film. The rest will wait for streaming if at all.

It's very close to the actual original cartoon with Orion Pax meeting Alpha Trion and gaining power. Even Beast Machines had them desperate and meeting the Oracle to reboot and evolve them into new beings.
I think once Orion and Megatron actually turn into the people we know them as, they're gonna revert back to having Peter Cullen and Frank Welker as the voices for them.
Why do people seem to be upset that this film is going to be more comedic than the last films. transformers isn't just action
I think it’s because fans are still waiting for that GREAT Transformers film. With the premise of “Animated Transformers film set on Cybertron” the imagination went wild and it felt like maybe we were finally gonna have something fantastic like the Spiderverse films. And the trailer seemed to go for comedic buddy adventure film and the trailer seems so overplayed and cliche. Hopefully it’s just lackluster marketing but I don’t blame people for being skeptical.
@@jonathandelgado3755 The director already has said that this trailer is only focusing on the more goofy lighthearted aspects and that it will become progressively darker as the movie goes on.
I am hopeful because of some of the shots with D-16/Megatron. Specifically you can tell that with the shot of Megatron it is not going to be a goofy or silly moment and the scene where D-16 lays his hand on Megatronus Prime you can tell that there will be some serious themes
People in this comment section are coping harddd. They didn’t make this movie goofy to ‘show how they were before the war’ or whatever, it’s to appeal to a younger audience like every movie these days, i for one am bored of the goofy stuff but each to their own. Definitely looks cool visually

I think this film will be incredible 🤩because you'll get to see what Optimus and Megatron when they were still friends and how the story unfolded because even though I really like transformers, I never really understood the story and I always wanted to see what it was like before they came to earth, there are several versions of transformers out there with different past stories which leaves me very confused 😅
and the film itself gives me a teenage vibe because of the voice and it's very different from what I'm used to hearing, but you can get used to it, Apart from their personalities, who knows, maybe we can see their maturity and learn more about how they reached each one's goal, right?
This looks fantastic to me but I wish they didn't have the intro before the trailer started.

Not really a Transformers fan, they're not my childhood so Michael Bay's transformers realistic designs is something that i would think of when speaks about Transformers. This trailer kinda made me disappointed at first because... well, their design is not cool. However the vibe, the goof, the action in the trailer hooked me, the story is focused all about the Robots, not with humans. I would defnititely give it a try when it comes out.

Not even, this is the revolutionary war freeing themselves from (cant remember his name but the squid-y guy) and Optimus and Megatron will begin to differ in ideology on how to go about that. I think the second movie will start with them clashing and the Civil War beginning at the end of the first act or something along those lines

To be fair, this is them thousands of years before the war, when they're both about the age of teenagers. It makes sense for them to have different voices at the start, then change to the voices we know and love by the end of the trilogy.

It's not really a reboot, it's just a different continuity. Transformers has "rebooted" like a hundred times in the last 40 years but this trailer actually has a ton of references from the lore of various cartoons and comics. I think it could be good if they just dive headlong into full Transformers lore for it.

I think that's where they plan to take things. A more lore accurate version of the story. I guess you're right that this isn't technically a reboot, but it does seem like they're scrapping the Live Action transformers altogether for this. It definitely has been rebooted quite a lot lmao.

So we honor their 40th anniversary with a new downgraded animated movie with a false storyline, immature dialogue, bad language, woke agenda and bad voice acting. Sad. 💔
Right...
Now here's the problem:
1. False Storyline - which one? The Transformers universe has been rebooted a hundred times over the course of the franchise.
2. Immature Dialogue - The movie is set thousands of years before the war, when Optimus and Megatron are teenagers. And have you seen any of the earlier Transformers shows? Even G1 Transformers had Optimus playing basketball and saying BOOBIES.
3. Bad Language - I don't really see any bad language here. Unless you're referring back to the second point of immature dialog.
4. Woke Agenda - ...where?
5. Bad Voice Acting - They're teenagers so it makes sense to give them different voice actors. Maybe in time when we see them become the ones we all know, then they'll switch back to the original voice actors to signify their change. Their "transformation" if you will.

This looks incredibly stupid. Why did they have to make it goofy?? I mean the voices in general really take me out of the movie.
Have you seen the G1 cartoons and much of the earlier Transformers shows? They're always meant to be goofy.
And while it is understandable about the voices, this is meant to take place when Optimus and Megatron were both teenagers, thousands of years before the war.
@@mercenarydelta7351 I highly doubt they were this goofy though. Now the cartoons have their level of comedy but not to this extreme. But I think I’m looking at this wrong. This looks like a movie made for 10 year olds and less for people who grew up with the shows and movies.
Hopefully we get a movie that looks like the first scene in Bumblebee. With that level of CGI.

What if we made the Mario movie but with robots?... They need to understand and respect the source material. This is trash. I get this is "made for kids," but they are making this a cash grab. They are just making a Mario movie, thinking that's the formula to follow to make money. They don't care what the IP really represents. This is not into the spider-verse because those movies know how to mix humor with hard-hitting moments.
