  • What is the difference between the squat and the deadlift? The short answer:
    Squat - the weight is on your shoulders, front rack or back rack. You lower the weight in a sitting motion utilizing mostly yours quads.
    Deadlift - the weight is in your hands, you pick up the weight from the floor with a hinging motion utilizing your hamstrings and glutes. In this clip we address the variations and differences more in depth.
    Both are some of the best strength moves for your whole body, even though they primarily target your legs, glutes and lower back. Try to always include them in your weekly workouts, and practice different foot positioning, amount of reps, tempo and of course load.
