I don’t care what anyone says, this album is pure GENIUS!
It’s so strange, but weirdly covers the whole musical spectrum, it has everything in it, pop, hip hop, jazz, blues, rock, country, folk, disco, techno, it’s got it all! It really foreshadows how each of her future albums would embody a different genre of music each time. All of the ideas were already present even back then.
Let’s not forget this was created around 2007-2008. It was shelved for 2 years by the label and wasn’t released till 2010 then shelved again. To think someone was making music like this back then is crazy. The title for this album is perfect because she actually was transforming into Lana Del Rey here, it’s enthralling to see this stage of her musical process.
(also justice for brite lites!!!)
I agree, this album is amazing and so underrated!
facts america! facts! PURE GOLD!
fun fact: Lana referenced put me in a movie in her song high by the beach from the honeymoon album
"Lights, camera, acción
I'll do it on my own
Don't need your money, money
To get me what I want"
she actually stopped singing higher not only because her voice matured, but because she said that if she signs like that she wouldn't stand out, so she evolved her low range and used it in her btd, paradise, uv eras, now she sings not so high, but no so low, just little glimpses of those tones here and there, and the love how chameleonic her voice is
A chameleon soul, no moral compass pointing due north. No fixed personality.
I was looking for that reply
The imperfection of the production is what (among other things) made me fall in love with this album and the rest of her unreleased. It felt spontaneous, playful, alive and a little crazy. Everything is so over-produced these days and I appreciate some rawness, it keeps the original spark/idea of the song alive. It might be "all over the place" but I also think the messy of it is a sort of red thread which binds it together, a raw expression of the life she lived back then.
justice for mermaid motel and brite lights 😭✊ they so weird i love it.... "buy my purple wig for my mermaid video" old lana/lizzy used to make home videos for her songs (video games music video if one of them) and she always had these cute weird wigs on, in the homemade video for that song she was wearing a purple wig so it makes sense
This version of Yayo is superior I'm sorry 😔
so true
This version is my second favorite song, only behind God knows I Tried.
It is without a doubt
the best one is def the live rock one
I don’t agree. Yayo is a masterpiece the way it was released
All her unreleased ARE SO GOOD, I CAN'T, and they're too many of them. She's amazing 🤩
This is not unreleased tho. It was just removed from the market 😅
@@alexbandeira3366it would fall into that category though I think of like songs that aren’t on streaming platforms
This original version of YAYO is probably on of my favorite production of her personally, feels like it can be a soundtrack to a movie !! 🎬❤️
As far as her unreleased songs I definitely think Fine China and Say yes to Heaven are great choices, both in production and lyrics
this album is basically just very literal and about her life
The chorus of Kill Kill when she says "I'm in love with a dying man" it's kind of a play with the words so you can hear "I'm in love with a diamond". And it makes more sense to the title hahaha
That’s not true. That was made up on tiktok and the new stans believed it. Same thing happened with white mustang/why am I stayin’. All fake
It doesn't make sense at all it was clearly only intended to be dying man. Diamond makes absolutely no sense
i’ve always loved lizzys songs, i’m obsessed with “the man i love” i think at the time of writing this album she truly did live in a trailer park, and tried as much as she could to romanticize her lifestyle through words and references to 20th century America
Just a little fact - the man I love isn’t a real song. It’s an edit of a trash magic demo made into a full song by a fan
@@heavenlytropicoWAIT WHAT😭
For K Part 2 is literally one of my all time favorite Lana songs !!
You should definitely listen to some of the unreleased songs meant for UltraViolence! My personal favorites would be Flipside, Dragon Slayer, Cult Leader, Unidentified Flying Bill, and Fine China 🖤
Your Girl too!!!
Flipside isn't unreleased
she's such a vibe I can't! I really don't wanna shower for at least 3 days everytime I listen to this album!! so grunge
Also! PLEASE react to Married in Mount Airy by Nicole Dollanganger, if you liked Ethel Cain you gonna love her too!! This album is everything!! plsss
Hey she also has another album that came out before this called sirens under the name may jailer if u wanted to check that one out x
Where can I find the sirens album
@@aghyadawwad7289 just on RUclips but she went by the name may jailer back then so just type in sirens may jailer and it should come up x
i love how she talks about her whole life on the album and managed to create an amazing atmosphere mixing various styles of music
She actually lived in a trailer when she wrote these songs
Smarty is Lana! There's actually another unreleased song where she refers to herself as that. "You gotta be smart, and I'm a little smarty." I'm guessing it's a nickname one of her old boyfriends used to call her. Imo the song is actually about domestic violence. "Beat me and tell me no one will love me better than you do" and the chorus is her saying all the things her boyfriend says to her to get her to stay. Praising her face/beauty, her voice, and telling her that it's actually her choice to stay with him despite how he treats her.
My favourite unreleased Lana song is “Every Man Get’s His Wish” and “Serial Killer”
serial killer is unreleased?
I love this album. ♥♥ Thanks for doing this! haha I love watching you react. I can tell you genuinely enjoy music too. It's nice to see
You should listen to Hit and Run and Serial Killer. You would never even know it's her. It's a guilty pleasure of mine.
It's only been a few months since I started listening to Lana's full length albums. And I love this one, it's a weird album I know haha but I really enjoy it. My favorite songs: Kill Kill, For K Part 2, Put Me In a Movie and Yayo (I have to say that the Born To Die version didn't catch me as much as this one).
mermaid motel reminds me of music lessons when everyone would turn dj mode on the pianoc
I wish she would re release this record 😩 I love it
This album is odd though but it's fire 🔥. Raise me up Mississippi south is my favorite as well as smarty, grandma blue ribbon sparkler trailer heaven and jump. I've been listening to record for over a decade
for k, pt 2 was one of her unreleased songs that was stuck in my head after i heard it the first time
Please check out more of her demo’s/ unreleased cause they are amazing
LOve your Lanas analysis! Would love to see your reactions to her official movies sound tracks before the new album comes out!
such a vibe, u cant deny that
In Ride music video she makes a reference to "queen of gas station" when she kind of play this character of a woman free and waiting for a man in this messy place
I always come back to Lizzy
I first started to listen to Lana in 2012 so all I had heard was the Born to Die album. The first song I heard beyond that was Raise Me Up (Mississippi South). I was like, daaamn she can do this too! I loved it, and then heard Yayo and even though it is not on this album, You Can Be the Boss. Her songs all sound different, but that is the appeal. And if you didn't like this version of Brite Lights, there is a rock version you may like better. Here's the link.

lizzy is so fun i love and miss her 😭 i mean queen of the gast station is basically ride music video, monologue and song, but with the fun side of it lol know what i mean?? its the same thing honestly but sounds fun - unlike ride
Hey ! I just finished listening to “my 21st century blues” by raye it was amazing would highly recommend
let me know if you want a link to download the album in HQ !! the youtube ones are generally way lower quality
omg can you please send me the link?
heyyy do u still have the links?
I love the production of Pawn Shop Blues.
you HAVE to listen to the sirens album!!!! it was the album lana released before this one, its so good!
Where can I find the sirens album?
@@aghyadawwad7289sound cloud
For K pt 2 is 😩🔥
Need this album on spotify so bad
you should also react to the sirens album
Where can i find it??
Mermaid motel is so 50s crazy but free teenage girl working a 9 to 5 and being a flirtatious femme fatale in the best way I love it
Love kill kill , you should react to her other earlier album Sirens under the pseudonym May Jailer I love star for nick
She has an earlier album!!:) it’s called NO KUNG FU
Sirens is even older.
@@angelashinner I LOVE Sirens!!
I love the ad libs in Smarty. The seductive sultry “Um”s and “Nobody”s
funny u mentioned that for k pt. 2 sound 90s. "k" stands for kurt cobain, one of her many inspirations. "use that voice, sing that song, and tell me to come on" as in "come as you are"
I don’t know if this is true tho, there’s a song called for k part 1 and i don’t feel like it’s about Kurt Cobain at all
That’s not true at all 😂
No that is not what k stands for
chill there can be a lot of interpretations to her songs and this is mine (and a lot of other people)
@Haendell Magalhaes you made your comment seem like you were explaining a well known fact when that is further from the truth especially since anyone who doesn't know about lana will immediately think what your saying is true, despite us already knowing that the song had infact been confirmed to be about her boyfriend at the time Josh Kempt
Unreleased songs:
Hollywood
DUM DUM
Yes to Heaven
Angels Forever
Fine China
JFK
Backfire
Because of you
Roses
Driving in Cars with Boys
I Don't Wanna Go
My Best Days
Never Let Me Go
Playing Dangerous
Serial Killer
Trash Magic
VELVET CROWBAR
Your Girl
Please listen to some of her unreleased songs (yes to heaven and noir are good ones) also great video as usual xxx
Omg I love noir!!
Noir is so good
@chery nah noir is so good
Noir is trash 💀
your reaction to mermaid motel and brite lites took me out 💀💀 I actually love how weird they are although I guess they don't really fit the overall vibe 🤣🤣
I love them I feel they’re just so quirky and like eerie at the same time it’s very Americana vintage and just perfect
"gramma" realmente é sobre a boa relação que ela tinha com avó, ao contrário do que ela tinha com a mãe"
it’s a shame the songs he listened to didn’t have that much of a nice quality tbh
I love Brite Lites, it reminds me M.I.A.'s Jimmy.
Other parts are more Portishead-ish, and even there is a trace of the 2000's rock and pop experimentation, Avril Lavigne
Mermaid motel and jump>>>>
Queen of the Gas Station as a Ride prequel
I repeat: u should react to nicki minaj pinkprint álbum.
how do i listen to it i cant find it on spotify
youtube just look it up
Its a deleted album , it was released before born to die but then lana took it off of streaming platforms so it cant be found as an official release but you can listen to it on youtube
you can import it on spotify from miss daytona’s collection!
soundcloud, youtube
Middle eastern? Do you mean midwestern?
This album just makes me feel so depressed I just can't listen to it 😖
You annoy me yes you do
I’m hating watching
Please check out more of her demo’s/ unreleased cause they are amazing
