- Louie is the lively and colourful product of a studio transformation. This track features Colin Croom on piano, with himself and Cadien Lake James contributing the choir-boy harmonies and backing vocals that come in as the song builds. It was definitely the intention to record a song that sounded as live as possible, and we sincerely hope that this energy comes through to the listener when you listen to this track.
Louie was an absolute blast to record. Finn recorded his guitar and vocals simultaneously to capture exactly what he was feeling in the moment, and this track finally gave Ayla the chance to play slide guitar, as well as the Keith Richards inspired lead you hear at the end. Jack’s groovy bass line keeps the song moving along until Malcolm comes crashing in on the drums. The lyrics are written from the perspective of a guy who always leaves his partner, and though she does everything she can to hold down the fort at home, he never shows up. The guitar solo is meant to convey the longing she feels for him to come home, and the loneliness she feels without him at her side.

Just read up on some interview, they listened to Zeppelin, the Beatles, Weezer, Stevie Wonder, The Who, and many more in their youth. They took that influence and put a modern, alternative twist on it. That’s what it’s all about, man. Musicians with real “soul” are a dying breed these days, but I’m glad there are kids in my generation to keep it alive. Rock on, Calpurnia!

ive said it before and ill say it again, cAlPUrNiA iS bEaUtIfUl AnD aMaZiNg AnD tHeY aRe AlL sO aWeSoMe. their music always makes me happy no matter how shitty i feel. finn wolfhard is so amazingly talented (acting, musically, and otherwise) as well as the other band members, but him and ayla really stick out to me. it's so awesome what they're doing!
I love this and Finns voice cracking reminds me of some Beatles songs when John’s or Paul’s voice would crack, and I really like the indie sound! ❤️❤️

(Also Ayla takes the cake in this track, the guitar is amazing throughout and really picks up the rest of the song in areas where the vocals are more flat/neutral, excellent work)

I love Jimi Hendrix and you can definitely tell these guys have been inspired by The Jimi Hendrix Experience... I feel that Calpurnia would have been very popular in the 60s, unfortunately today this music is out of style and isn’t appreciated. I love it though.❤️ As a 17 (about to be 18) year old, I can say that I don’t listen to today’s music, and many other kids don’t either, unless it gives me old school vibes. I only listen to music from the 60s-90s and this takes me to the 60s. Good job Calpurnia, I hope you guys get more appreciation than you have now and that ALL of you get recognition except just Finn, even though I love Finn..😭❤️

I understand the hate, but these types of songs aren’t really all about the lyrics. With music, people express themselves and these genres of music today don’t get much attention. Some people are only stanning Finn, but the whole band is playing. Together they make this music and put a lot of hard work. Yes the lyrics are simple, but it’s not just about that, it’s also about the fact that this band made everything for this song. R&B isn’t for everyone, Pop isn’t for everyone, Rock music isn’t for everyone, and the list goes on. Some people genuinely like these types of music styles and some don’t. It’s simple if you think about it. Good job on the whole vibe of the song though, I actually enjoy this song more than City Boy, but it’s still good.
