I want to take a stab as to why i think this is!! I am very new to music theory so if anyone disagrees lmk abt your theory 🙏 ok so what i have learned from jacob collier is that negative harmony is an inverted key center. So major becomes minor. And this song is written in the ley of G major with the chords G, B, C, and Cm. (What is so fascinating is that Collier hypothesizes that the right side of the circle of fifths, major-brighter or "happy" is the fifths side, and the left, minor-darker or "sad" is the fourths side) so i think negative harmony has turned this song from major to minor and thats why its creepy.

@@PM5C you could play the regular Dm chord, it’ll all sound like it’s supposed to in root position, but if you take the notes from the original chord progression, the D minor you are wanting to play would be a C major (C, E, G = C major), then the new notes in order would be A, F and D, so the D minor chord would be in 2nd position. A lot of nitty gritty stuff, but root position would sound good
I'm not sure if this is fair use or anything, but I'd legitimately listen to this if it were on spotify. The melody works better here than the original imo, its so dark. Just sounds awesome, well done on this arrangement. Been stuck in my head for the past few days. Its a shame about the artifacts from the pitch correction though.
