This is spot on the money. There are so many professionals or professional instructors on RUclips who, frankly, if the gaffer taped a wok onto a broom handle would probably make a good fist of a swing. Using real life scenarios, no data, and getting high, middle and low handicappers to try a club is, IMO, exactly what’s required and is SO, SO helpful and useful. Great stuff.
This is the best type of equipment review in my opinion. Real situation on course not dry ball data inside. I hope that you do more like this. Please include shaft information
Had a fitting on 7th March oddly enough. Tried the Ping hybrid, and T.M. M6, Cobra and the New APEX. For me the Callaway was hands down better for feel and distance. OMG I had an organism - or something that sounds like it.
I haven't hit every hybrid but I really like my Cobra F9 Hybrid. The baffles really do seem to work. I remember a lot of the older gents on the course would carry Cobra baffles but that was in the 80's too. lol
Great job Gentlemen, I have gotten away from the hybrid clubs because I would always hook them. I have a utility 2 iron that I have been doing quite well with. Maybe I should revisit the newer hybrid clubs and see if the hooks are designed out of them.
Great little compare!! Andy great collaboration you work well together!! I am going try get the top end of my bag right this year and very interested in the ping because they have the flat lie angle setting as I tend to miss with a hook especially with a hybrid. Keep up the great work!!
Really enjoyed this review guys. Very well done. I just obtained a Taylormade M6 # 4 for the bag. Will try it out this coming week. Took advantage of the last day of trade ins for the 50% taylormade bonus. Got it for 35 bucks. Cannot wait to try it.
Really enjoyed this video Andy with game situations. MORE. You're in short sleeves and we just got 12" of snow and it's 8° f . I think I'm moving to England or Florida. Cheers.
I bought the M6 22*. Love the flight the sound and everything about it. I was gaming a Ping G series which was a great club. I do know I prefer the feel of the shaft on the M6.
Joseph Dubiel ; I’m not sure I could say I can hit a draw when I need to yet in my game. I am very consistent with a hybrid and can play a slight fade pretty consistently and can hit a nice high “softer”landing shot to a green with some roll out. I am very aware of the type of shafts I prefer in my bag. Good luck
I use the 2016 Apex 3 and 4. Love them. I find the TM hybrids too strong and too high launching. Most recently had a 19° Jetspeed a couple of years ago and it went almost as far as my 3 wood...
Andy can you please tell me where you played the balls from in your stance to get the height?? I can hit hybrids well but never seem to get any real height.
I'm not Andy, but generally for a club like these, the more forward in your stance the ball is, the higher they will go. I wouldn't play it extremely far forward like your driver, but perhaps similar to a 3wood location to start.
Great review Andy. Nice to have lews opinion too. Just wondering what Lewis's opinion is on hybrids off the tee on tight par 4s. I prefer an iron all day due to the lack of roll and bulge. Just feel I hit it so much straighter. Cheers Andy
Andy Wood similar to yourself I’ve always been long iron man.......feel my dispersion is better with a long iron compared to hybrid. After this test I’m certainly going to reconsider a hybrid as I struggle with the gap between 3 wood and 3 iron.
@@averagegolfpro7827 I'm trying a cobra utility iron at the moment. Quite forgiving and straight faced. Bit bulky in appearance is my only gripe. I do like the look of the ping hybrid though 👍
Great review,👍🏻would have loved to know how the Cobra F9 hybrid who have faired as was thinking about getting that one & to hear your thoughts on those Baffler rails & how they help it perform or not.
I hate when terms like “better player” gets bandied around. I’m a 20 handicap and much prefer the look and style of the apex hybrid. Same goes for regular irons, I’ll take a thin top line every time. Thick top lines always make me feel like I’m gonna chunk the heck out of the ball.
I hope more golf channels start doing comparative reviews in this format. These days, it would be very unlikely to find a single club review to find it a "bad" club.
Very interesting test! More practical than scientific but I think more of us buy clubs on feel/instinct than pure data! I would have loved the F9 hybrid to have been involved for the baffler rails!
Appreciate the reply and you can’t be expected to have them all! It would have been interesting to see if the rails maybe do help! One for the future may be!👍🏼👍🏼
Great ball flight , it looks sleek.. came off well, .. we’ll good enough , that’s a review then , “ I don’t really hit these”.. Hmmmnnn and what does that make the Apex then .. super shot! Super fast , maybe I’ll hit it out of the middle of the club ... “ I can’t believe how far it’s gone.. don’t forget, what club was that again .. hmmnnn , flew off the face.. I’m trying these things all the time “ Look at that, what club was that again? Easy swing .. it’s 215, but I’ll play it 200 ?.. what club was that again? The performance is as good as it looks.. one bounce, .. for looks ... for looks Flat black, real life oh yeah, what club? That noise? What club was that again.. couldn’t game it , pulled one, ... Honestly... what the heck kind of review is that??? Sheesh.. what a waist of time!
Nice H2H test Andy, I agree with Chad that I would probably go for the PING because it is adjustable and you could get the Ball flight dialled in for the shot shape that you wanted to see. I liked the little chip & run shot challenge you played at the end of the vid, I play this shot a lot and also use my Hybrid for longer Putts. Once you get accustomed to the speed that the Ball comes off the Clubface it's a really easy shot to play, particularly if like me your chipping is shite!
The "best hybrids" on sale 2019 are no better than the best hybrids on sale in 2018, 2017 or 2016. You just happen to be trying to sell the newest models of golf equipment. Sooner or later the masses will cop on and stop buying into the bullshit. Yours included. If you don't like what I say. then just stop the bolloxology, otherwise be prepared to get called out on it
Where is the cobra? You people are all about the expensive brands! It's not a real test with no cobra! Sorry, can't watch you pick and choose clubs to test which are just from freebees you get from the big boys!
David Richard this kind of comment is what drives me mad Dave, how can I test the Cobra if I haven’t got it?!!! Deal with facts will ya!! Cheap digs when you get the chance and you haven’t got a clue pal

Cracking video, really enjoyed the debate/banter between you boys and review of the clubs. Thanks for your efforts.
Thanks Jeremy
Good honest test mate. I have the gapr 2 low and I love it.
Proper golf club!

Sorry Randy a strangely warm day in the UK, I would go to Florida!
Would have been great to see you both try your 3 irons from the same shots.
That was Lewis's suggestion also, I didnt listen 😂 can you delete your comment 😂
👍exactly
I agree, which club was the longest
I bought the M6 22*. Love the flight the sound and everything about it. I was gaming a Ping G series which was a great club. I do know I prefer the feel of the shaft on the M6.
Agreed Bill
I just got an M6 22 degree also. I am going to try it out this weekend. I am excited about it. How did you find the control of it Bill?

Great test Andy
Great review lads, thank you, it's made my choice a little easier.
For a mid 90s golfer, which would you recommend?
Love this video,TM are my favourite Hybrids,I want this club

Good review, nice to see on course test with results. Like to see you throw the Cobra in the mix.
I will try to get the F9
Great hitting and excellent review!. I'm definitely going to try the M6👌
Yes give it a go
Ty men,,, that was the best review I've seen with any club,,, real.stuff that happens on course!!! Ty again!!!!

Good review . . . I could never anticipate not having a Hybrid in the bag
I had a change of heart and went with a complete set of the T.M. hybrids. Easier for me to hit than the others. Feel great too. Spider Dubiel
Thank you for this. I am looking to add one more hybrid.
Good luck with your choice
"So what does that make the Apex then Lewis? " That look on his face, properly confused! 😂😂😂
Good review Andy! You're striking the ball well in this!
Better at golf than maths!
@@TheAverageGolfer good job he's a pro, doesn't need to worry about how many shots to take off in a medal 😂😂😂
Jay Byrne in my defence........ok I have nothing 😂😂
Excellent Andy. Best hybrid review on you tube.
Thanks

rhys painter was just about to type the same thing !
Andy, any chance of testing/being fitted for the Ventus shaft from Fujikura & see if it makes a difference? Supposed to be the dogs bollocks.
Curiosity, what weight shafts were in each club ?
I hate when terms like “better player” gets bandied around. I’m a 20 handicap and much prefer the look and style of the apex hybrid. Same goes for regular irons, I’ll take a thin top line every time. Thick top lines always make me feel like I’m gonna chunk the heck out of the ball.
Jason Price good point Jason. I think the moral of this video is that we shouldn’t categorise players or clubs......performance is always king!!
Just got an m6 hybrid myself.. filled a gap perfectly
Great test, thanks. In your opinion is the M6 much better than the M4 hybrid?
I think there are always minor differences Andrew, if I was choosing between the 2 I would pick the M6
whats nice about the 410 is lie angle can get flatter, thats huge aside from the ugly turbulators, lol
Good test, last years G400 range seems to be better! Good chemistry between ye both, he must be a red!
Hes not.....he's from the dark side would you believe!
I hope more golf channels start doing comparative reviews in this format. These days, it would be very unlikely to find a single club review to find it a "bad" club.
What shafts in the ping and M6 Andy ?
Very interesting test! More practical than scientific but I think more of us buy clubs on feel/instinct than pure data! I would have loved the F9 hybrid to have been involved for the baffler rails!
I dont have the Cobra product sorry Keith
Appreciate the reply and you can’t be expected to have them all! It would have been interesting to see if the rails maybe do help! One for the future may be!👍🏼👍🏼
Andy would you say the M 6 would be the most forgiving and easier launch of the 3 ??? Sure sounds like it. Spider Dubiel
Great video Andy 👍 I play jpx 900 and it works well. What tee height did you use for the tee shots?
very low, as you would tee for an iron

As long as there isn't a Bunker in front of me the hybrid Chip & Run is my shot of choice, much better than my Wedge "Chunk" & Run!
That shirt Andy - wth?
19% should be 230 to 240 for the pro....
