    I have the everdrive 64. I purchased the cartridge that has the chip pre soddered. it was a little pricey but well worth it. it says 99% compatible but haven't found a game that doesn't work... a really good investment

    I imagine you would still require an expansion pack for some games (Majora's Mask, DK64) if you're running on original hardware.

    I love concept of the Everdrive but the only reason I've avoided it is the price. The Turbo Grafx one always caught my attention though since getting games for that system is an EXTREMELY pricey endeavor even for the most basic of games on it.

      Kinda high but hey, it pays itself when you fill it with more than 50 to 100 or even more roms, considering that a single N64 cartridge goes from $10 or even $40

  • @MrElitesense
    @MrElitesense 8 лет назад +43

    Why did you completely ignore the fact that the cartridge won't work without first soldering in a CIC chip?? Pretty important point that was missed in this video (aka sales pitch)

    • @rerez
      @rerez  8 лет назад +35

      That's a very valid concern. I didn't think you could buy one without the CIC chip being built in. As long as they offer the option to have it built in (which they do at what would appear to be a very very small price) it shouldn't be an issue for most people. I'll be sure to mention it if I make a video on this again in the future.
      Also, this video is not a sales pitch. We do not accept brand deals or advertisements of that sort on this channel.

    The SD2SNES and the Super Everdrive are NOT the same thing. The Super Everdrive was created by Krikzz but his website does sell the SD2SNES. The main difference being, the Super Everdrive does NOT emulate special chips like the SD2SNES does. With both devices being available and both devices being expensive, you may want to clarify this before expensive mistakes are made by customers who haven't researched this.

    I'm happy with all my EverDrive's. The main reason the N64 one has about the highest compatibility rate, is due to the fact that N64 cartrdiges never used fancy "support chips", like some SNES games (Mario Kart, Pilot Wings... you could easily look up a list) and a (very) few Genesis games (Virtua Racer). I have the SNES EverDrive, not the SD2SNES but from what I've read the SD2SNES does not (currently) emulate all special chips. Not the SuperFX for example, so no Yoshi's Island or Starfox. Region lock out can still be a problem of course... Golden Axe III on Genesis for example. Basically though, EverDrive's are a dream solution for retro gaming and the original hardware is in ANY case preferable to an emulator for the "true experience" :)

    Nintendo 64 is not hard to emulate, in fact I own every Nintendo 64 game and every rom. I suggest PJ64 and Jabo's plugins because anything else is horrible. If you want "new" textures you'll have to use inferior video plugins as well. Super Mario 64 works at 60FPS on 1920x1080 resolution at 32 bit and 60hz. I have no idea what the people in the comment section are talking about, they must be trying to use a Doritos 3D chip (don't let the name fool you, it's actually food and not hardware). PSX and PS2, now there are two systems that are tough to get anything to work well on the emulators, whether you are running it on the original game disc or from an iso you ripped from the disc to play on the emulator. Forget finding any help getting the games to work either because everyone who responds on message boards on the matter is more often than not extremely counter-productive and have no idea what they are even talking about.

    so wait, how do i load games up on this thing? at first i thought the games came already loaded but from what i understand this sounds like its more of a copy and paste for n64 games on a n64 cartridge?

    It reads it needs a CIC chip installed on the website. Is there another version with the CIC already soldered in?

      +Tom Atkinson I was just giving the guy shit bc in the video he says
      "the company that made this cartridge says its 99.99% accurate but I got no idea what they're talking about bc this thing pretty much 100%"
      So if he has no idea what they're talking about with 99.99%, then why did he say "pretty much" 100%? Bc pretty much 100% is the same thing as 99.99%
      It's dumb I know, just giving him shit for his choice of words. Nitpicking.

    The reason they say 99.9% is the same reason anti-bacterial commercials do: If something fucks up, then they can say "Well, there was a margin of error."

  • @kironoschannel

    Not sure if you know, but you didn't mention that it has cheat support. Using cheats allows you to disable the anti-aliasing on most games, resulting in sharper lines. While it works for some games really well, others can throw a conniption when you try to disable AA. Mind you it doesn't increase the resolution, it just skips a step when sending the image to the TV.

    I was sad when my save pak died for my N64. I had a 100% Rush 2049 save file on it that took me years to complete! I will never play that game again because I'd have to start over.

    Krikzz is amazing. I love them and their products. I have nearly every EverDrive. I'm only missing the SD2SNES (I would get the Super Everdrive but the SD2SNES are more compatible), the Turbo EverDrive (don't own the system yet), and the Master System one since I also don't own it yet and the Genesis one emulates it well. This particular cart (the EverDrive 64) is friggin awesome. One of my favorites by far.

    to collect all the original carts for these retro systems would be thousands of dollars, and to be honest most games are shovel ware in my honest opinion, growing up i would give my older consoles and games to friends and family when i got the latest model, now that im older i wanted to play some of my old games again, but because people on ebay and swap meets thinks that those games are worth big bucks it really pumped the brakes on my gaming, but since Krikzz came out with the everdrives i have been playing all my favs at a small fraction of the cost
