  • It's safe to say without Linda Simensky, that we wouldn't have the level of animation that we have today. With shows like Powerpuff Girls, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Rocko's Modern Life, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Rugrats, Doug, Ren and Stimpy and as well as so many more. Well, we might still have those shows, but they wouldn't be the outstanding cartoons and spectacular animation that we know and love today. She fostered a playground for these creators to work in that exuded the best material during the animation renaissance from the early 90's until now. The aforementioned creators of the shows up above know just how hard Mrs. Simensky worked and went to bat for them on a regular basis. And in Some cases as she details it (PowerPuff Girls) was so close to not getting made, but with her tutelage, never give up mentality and pure adoration for this median (animation) is the reason we can look back so fondly over the last 30 years of animation and say, damn my childhood was great!
Linda is the Vice President of Children's Programming at PBS, as well as a professor at the University of Pennsylvania with classes like, the history of American Animation, The Animation of Disney and so many other fantastic courses!

i met danny in his studio in 2007 when they were working on the movie. danny and the cast was awesome i didn't get to meet the voice actors as they had finished that part up but i got to meet the rest of the crew. when i met danny i gave him a professionally made award i came up with called the plank of honor. it was a hand made plank mounted to a 100 year old piece of lacquered redwood with engraved gold placks. when i have it to him he love it and was the nicest thing he had gotten from a fan and stated that i gotten the cracks in the right place on planks head, i went on to say that getting those cracks right was hard cause the show they were always in a diffrent place. so he went out to his crew and sculded them "i told you they would notice planks cracks in diffrent spots!" they laughed but i knew danny was serius. i tried to safe them by say i noticed it cause i pick up on those small details. we all talked for hours he showed me a unreleased epsiode at the time (released a year later as the only season 6 episode) i even went of their lunch break with them i could write alot more on the matter but i cant fit in all here.
anather amazing animator ive met and am im working with right now is john r dillworth (creator of courage the cowardly dog) its ananther long story of how i started working for him to restore him short film collection to a true HD format for a blu ray release and how i met him but hes an easy person to get in contact with im sure he would love to be on one of your podcast. im glad you getting all these people on your podcast its cool seeing them talk about all the stuff over the years :P i hope that danny or john can one day be on your show :P ive tried to get back in contact with danny via his facebook but hes a difficult person to get ahold of so good luck!

That’s very cool! I would love to have Danny on as well as John. I’ve tried (unsuccessfully at this point) to get John on. Maybe since you are still working for him you could put in a good word for me. Courage was huge as well growing up, that entire era was. I hope we’ve earned a subscribe from yah and if you could connect John and myself I would much appreciate it

Linda's one my favorite people in animation. She's a great role model of cool strength and fundamental decency her statement here are all great examples of this.
I should also note that "when you look at her resume they're all hits" is partially due the fact that we don't put the flops on our CVs. The failures are there too.

I'm so very happy to know now that people like Linda were overseeing the creation of shows that I loved and which influenced my childhood. That influence those shows had wasn't just restricted to America. No, it spread worldwide. I live in Poland and my earliest memories are of me watching Cartoon Network back in 1995 when I was barely three years old. I didn't understand a single word in English back then and I still enjoyed it. Once Cartoon Network launched its Polish feed in 1998 and everything had a Polish dub, things got more convenient for me and I started understanding what I watched more and along with that, appreciating it. I loved nearly everything Cartoon Network had to offer from its own original programming to many Warner Bros productions (like Batman Beyond, Justice League and Animaniacs - btw, you should consider getting Tom Ruegger on your podcast, that'd be amazing) to many Hanna-Barbera classics which it introduced me to, though I think my personal favorite will forever be Codename: Kids Next Door by Mr. Warburton (another guy you should consider for your podcast, along with Maxwell Atoms, the creator of Billy & Mandy). As far Nickelodeon goes, I had less exposure to it, not because I didn't like it or anything, it just wasn't a thing yet in Poland when I was kid and wouldn't be until the official launch in 2008 and even then some notable classic Nicktoons were omitted for its line-up, such as Doug, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Aaahh!! Real Monsters, Angry Beavers, Invader Zim, Catscratch and El Tigre. Thankfully for me, I actually had the chance to catch a glimpse of what Nick had to offer elsewhere because around the year 2000, there was this channel in Poland called Fantastic that basically served as a prototype Nickelodeon for Poland and it was there where I could enjoy watching Rocko and Real Monsters, though not for long as that channel got quickly shut down the next year. And if it wasn't there, it was probably some other local channel that had a deal with Nickelodeon to show their content in Poland before they could launch their own channel there. Another chance I had to catch a glimpse of what Nick had to offer was whenever I visited my sister in Belgium in mid-to-late 2000's where I could watch Nick in French. Again, couldn't understand a word but I was still enjoying it. So much so that it got me hyped for the eventual launch of Nick in my country once rumors started spreading on the Internet around 2007. And once it launched, it was kinda problematic mostly because I didn't have the right cable package that included it and my dad wasn't willing to change that (especially since at the time I was already 14 years old), so I had to watch at my friend's apartment. I enjoyed watching SpongeBob, Jimmy Neutron, Hey Arnold, My Life As a Teenage Robot and Avatar, though there wasn't much more there that could honestly satisfy me, which is probably why I much prefer Cartoon Network over Nick. Anyway, I want to thank you for making this episode in particular and putting the spotlight on Linda' and her contribution to all those shows and just how much of a key role she had in all of them.
