    Wow $150!! What a fantastic buy and so glad you are saving this W140. Really impressed you gave it a clean before working on it, wish more RUclipsr’s would do that.

    Nooo! A car left sitting that long needs a draining of the fuel system and flush, and engine checking for free rotation and oil pressure before atrempting to start

    $150 is absolutely insane running or not. Good call on getting it.

      Thanks Pete! Appreciate it and agreed. Not sure what I’m going to do with it now. It is running and driving now. And other than the cosmetic stuff due to sitting and being vandalized, the reverse gear is about 80% dead as expected. But then I also picked up a very clean white 97 420 with 107k on it that is actually in very good condition minus the headgasket leak. It runs fine and doesn’t overheat but when it cools it leaks into one cylinder enough to hydrolock it if I don’t release the pressure before letting it sit. Guy just put $4k into it in suspension repairs then this happened. He was going to just junk it so I offered some and got it for $200. Man the 97s are so much nicer.

    You have washed the car and turned the key? You think that's a good idea? And it's been siting for 8+ years. If we have not seen something done to it off cam, you might have poured petrol over it and set it on fire. It hurts man in if you done it.

    Is this going to be another biodegradable wiring harness situation? They're the most fun.

    Any W140 before 1997 is a mistake, good luck

      I don’t understand why people are so scared of the wiring harness issue. It’s almost always just the main engine harness that needs replacing, and you can do it in an hour all by yourself. Sometimes the lower harness needs replacing, but it’s still not a big deal. The rest of the wiring on these cars is high quality and has no issues.

    • @TorxGarage
      @TorxGarage  Год назад +1

      Very easy. The only other wiring issue besides the engine harnesses that I can think of is the occasional mirror harness, the 97 I just got has that issue.

      95 96 97 98 99 were all good years. Anything before the first face lift had problems. But almost all those cars had the warranty harness replacement done. So they were as good as any of the rest.

      @@garrettdodson6110 95 should have been the same as the years before it. 1996 was the facelift.

    • @TorxGarage
      @TorxGarage  Год назад

      95 was a partial face-lift, best I can tell is really just the exterior lighting. Still has distributors, mechanical transmission, early climate control, mirrors etc. But newer tail lights and front turn signals.
