How to polish your headlights to factory new - the RIGHT way
There are many different options when it comes to renewing your headlights. This is my preferred method as the end result looks and feels like a factory new headlight. No clear coat to run or peel in the future. No bugs or orange peel, just a perfectly smooth and clear surface. Touch up is very easy when it does start to fade again. The polish has a UV protectant in it. All products used are from 3M.

No follow-up on this video? I have a 68 lincoln I purchased that I found 2 pushrods bent exactly like this. Have you found the cause and the the fix? Was it the cam? Lifters? Timing chain??????????
Looks good, man! Thanks! Helps give me the confidence to try this myself.
The 3M kit we use at work consists of 6 500 grit pads, 4 800 grit pads, and a single 3000 Trizact pad. The method I found that works the absolute best is what I call the “Dry-Wet-Wet” method. Use the 500 grit pads dry, use the 800 grit pads wet as well as the Trizact pad. And I don’t skimp on the water on the wet sanding because it keeps the pads cleaner longer and rinses away the plastic particles.
They sell some stuff at auto zone it’s a polish and lasts about 6 months the bottle will last 10 years and if you use it regularly your lens will always look new I been doing it to my 2005 Yukon xl since I got the Yukon in 2005 lights still look great
It's unfortunate that once the original surface degrades away even a repolished lens doesn't last as well as the manufactured surface. Same thing goes for retrobrightened plastic honestly - once the original plastic begins to break down it's going to continue 😔 However being able to do this yourself is still WAY cheaper than replacing the lenses!

I don't know how these videos got so popular... watching some dude wash a car and vacuum carpet...i expected mechanicals and paint and bodywork...tricked again.
gotta love an old ferd, next time, try filling the carb thru its vent pipe, dont have to crank the hell outta it to prime it that way i wouldnt worry too much about the brakes, just get a dual master instead of the single line one. you might be suprised how good it stops, my old merc will put you into the windsheild, until they get hot, brake fade off the highway is deff real with drums lol

You got more balls than I do as much as it looks great Id never go full blast on my Marks motor with pressure wash too many things could go wrong ,car did turn out great Ive owned 4 over the years and currently have a 98 Collectors Edition and a 97 black on black LSC grat video .

Thanks Pete! Appreciate it and agreed. Not sure what I’m going to do with it now. It is running and driving now. And other than the cosmetic stuff due to sitting and being vandalized, the reverse gear is about 80% dead as expected. But then I also picked up a very clean white 97 420 with 107k on it that is actually in very good condition minus the headgasket leak. It runs fine and doesn’t overheat but when it cools it leaks into one cylinder enough to hydrolock it if I don’t release the pressure before letting it sit. Guy just put $4k into it in suspension repairs then this happened. He was going to just junk it so I offered some and got it for $200. Man the 97s are so much nicer.

Something I like to do is use the leaf blower or air compressor with air fitting after a wash, all the engine nooks and crannies door gaps and such get dried out especially near electrical and such. Awesome detail. Keep up the good work.

Not yet! It is going to be an engine out job now. I could probably get it running as is but I’ve decided to do a complete reseal on the engine and transmission. So I’ll make a video on that but have to get that moving. Hopefully not too far away

Well the old paint makeup is a lot more hardy than the modern EPA friendly one ... And old paint is way thicker too ...

Any videos on it? I acquired this idenicsl model and spec it sat since 2012. The entire front wiring harness was chewed in half by mice and the engine harness was deteriated also the plastic lifter oilers were leaking with low oil pressure and top end rattle. Everything is gixed now and i absolutley love this car. Lots of presence and very substantial lol. Gazing at the three pointed star driving on back roads it seamlessly cruises through corners and accelerates with ease. Its not fast but for late 80s engineering and a 2 and a half ton car it is impressive.
maybe see what it needs to start the engine and mechanicals before you clean the crap outta it.Otherwise it's a polished turd
