I don't really get how it's money hungry. It's literally free on all platforms, all the characters a free (no dlc) that u can unlock with ingame currency by just playing the game. Ofc they have stuff u can buy for skins and stuff like that but for the most part if u just grind the game you can get pretty much whatever.
@Unofficial.Kvrsed takes 3-5 days to unlock characters. But you could always buy them with real money yk 😊

I have a love-hate relationship with this game.
I love it because of it's cast and how they are represented, and I loved the beta so much so that I bought the Ultimate Founder Pack, or whatever it was called, but GOD do I hate this game's monetization, its grindy model. I have played mobile games with more polish than this.
Alongside that, when you mentioned how all monetization screamed Fortnite, and you also claimed that it's probably not as bad now, you are right! Yeah, the battle pass still exists, but the grind is extremely minimal, with some people being able to complete the battle pass in one day without buying a single level. Alongside all of that, as a bonus, you literally get a SECOND battle pass after completing the first one that only includes extra items for the skins, and not locking off more major content behind it besides a couple of simple color swaps for existing skins, maybe a dance or 2.
But, in the end, Multiversus just... DOESN'T DO LIVE SERVICE, OR REALLY ANY MONETIZATION MODEL RIGHT.
According to a study, it takes 33 hours to get the currency to get ONE character. Joker takes 77 HOURS. This is literally worse than grinding for Darth Vader in Battlefront 2, who was only 40 hours and was OP as heck, when Joker is literally just another character.
I am sorry for ranting, but god this game has it's flaws.
Glad I got the assumption right about Fortnite 😅 That aside it truly is unfortunate the way this game is going

The input lag and the disconnect are awful.
The xp for BP is horrible. Wish they kept the coin system, not these unnecessary gems.
The biggest issue with this game is how GREEDY It is. 4 currencies, you can only get points by playing the rifts and that is laughably small amount as well.
(You can get out the maximum 200 in average from grinding for more than an hour and you need 3000 for a character, 6000 for the joker)
I love the animations, I love the idea, but the reward system is killing this game.
Joker is more expensive because he's the newest purchase character.
That doesn’t change the fact there shouldn’t be a price gap in the first place. It’ll be worse if his price decreases after the season
Other characters are at different prices as well. Prices are not consistent to get people to spend money and have the higher valued characters that you advertise the game for, yet can't play them for 80+ hours of gameplay and grinding so you buy premium currency for a character that has a markup with real money as well.
They advertise the game to kids, people that played the beta that aren't kids come back, they make the game monetization hell and make the grind annoying and long to get characters making people buy characters, kids don't spend money to skip grinds they spend it for cosmetics, they get bored and leave to play something else while we sift through decisions made by executives.
@Cobra-42 what are you talking about I looked at all the prices per character and there all 1000g or 3000fc except for Joker who is 1250g or 6000fc. (Idk about Jason)
Joker cost more because they think that people will be willing to pay more for him.
Banana guard side special is powerful.
My biggest complaint is that I can’t change fighters in between matches with out going back to the main screen
I still cant afford joker, ive only unlocked 2 characters and ive played so much since launch. I wish you would earn some currency just for winning matches

All the monetization and the amount of hours grinding is giving me PTSD about Star Wars Battlefront II (2017) when that first launched. Although Battlefront II has been completely revamped in terms of progression and monetization since its release.
Because of that, I pray that Player First Games fixes the games issues first and THEN brings up the monetization issue to WB because it's clear they just wanna milk the player's wallets dry. I understand that they have to make some sort of money of a free-to-play game but sometimes, enough is enough and if the monetization gets worse, then players will unite against it.

Plus, they completely removed Iron Giant from the game to nerf and rework him a SECOND time, before adding him back. The game is fun, but boy.... Player First has a lot of work to do.

0:53 the reason why the game actually feels somewhat different and missing some stuff is that a majority of the time they had they spent on remaking the game from scratch in unreal engine 5,this isn’t the same beta build but altered,this is a whole new build in a different engine
I really respect the fact that you spoke about the game honestly without just shitting on it and not giving it any chances. I’ve been wanting to make a video like that but I haven’t exactly got any videos on my RUclips anyway.
I think the ideas and move sets for a lot of the characters are borderline genius and genuinely so creative. And I was really looking forward to the game just for that. I missed playing as them. And I did wonder if maybe some of the things they removed from the game, were the developers being cautious due to how much they overcompensated in a lot of ways in the beta. But that’s a story for another day.
I don’t know why they removed so many perks that were in the beta and now we’ve got pretty useless ones. I also want to know how I’m ranking with my characters, because in the beta you had your rank in 1v1s in 2v2s and then you could also see how good your Arya was for example….

I don’t know man. There are so many problems with it and yet, I enjoy the core base of the game and I’ve been playing it non stop pretty much for the past few weeks. The fact that they had the balls to just remove the Iron Giant from the game so they can properly fix him is admirable and for a team that is fairly small making the game, in a lot of ways, they did a really good job. I think there’s a lot of pressure on them as well, as you’ve got one side saying that the game hasn’t got enough things in it for a release and there’s less here than in the beta and it got boring. But then there’s the other side that are saying the base game we’ve got is bugged and filled with performance issues. I think I’ve said all I’ve wanted to say. I love this game and I really want it to do well. But I completely understand why people have issues with it.
I know you said it wasn’t scripted, but I think it worked better for a more honest video on how you feel about multiversus as a whole. Great stuff buddy! 💙🙌🏼

So far, I have been able to unlock two characters including the joker so I’ve been able to unlock three characters technically without spending any money

I joined the MV discord and everyday I go to the wish list and write “bring back closed beta” because it felt more finished then now.

How do you make a Smash Bros-like game and not offer a Stock/Lives mode? That's the mode most commonly used in tourneys!
All these greedy corporations make Nintendo look like saints. They are far from it, but at least they care about their characters and putting out good games that aren’t hidden behind paywalls (not to say Nintendo is perfect, they’ve released their fair share of crappy games at launch, but at least you don’t have to pay for the new stuff that just completes the game)

The rifts sound good, but they genuinely suck the passion out of multiversus
what i realized now about the tutorial is that the old one actually taught you game mechanics and stuff with multiple tutorials modes for certain things,which got me good in the first place but here this tutorial feels like it wants me to play the sub space emmisary ass story mode and teaches you really nothing.
I played this game for 6 days straight and had a lot of fun…
Its been 3 days now since i last played it and… i dont think i wanna play it anymore.
It doesn’t have that nostalgia replayability that Smash has. Heck, i rage so much in Fortnite, but i still go back to it!

The ring out system is good for a game with 2v2 as a primary gamemode. In smash doubles a very common and hated strategy is stock tanking which is having 1 teammate knock the others away carefully while the other runs away just trying not to get hit. Also FFA is pretty unrealised I do think it needs a stock system there
Ofc, the ring out system does have its benefits especially in 2v2 but I play a lot of FFA. The ring out system ruins so many of our game there XD

Did they remove ability weakening where your ability becomes less and less powerful if you spam the same ability, forcing you to do different abilities instead of these specific ones
Yup that’s why every opponent you get matched up with is always spamming cause they removed the attack decay

I honestly think Lego Dimensions did a lot of similar concepts that the full version of Multiversus tries to do, but executed it much better. And that game also required you to buy characters with real money.

Tbh the battle pass does look like it was just ripped from one of the older seasons of fortnite and was plastered over with some warner characters

2:58 This is still a thing?! I know that I would have rollback happen in the Classic Mode that... I guess was removed between beta and gamma (current version is gamma) but I didn't actually have any rollback in the rifts. Then again I got sick of the rifts fairly quick because apparently my desktop's graphics card at max settings straight-up cannot support MultiVersus (and yet they want to get it working on phones, or so they said a while back) so it just crashes a lot. Planning on trying it on my Laptop but like... I can wait.
the fact that with custom matches with 2 of my other freinds if we add a bot as the final player it most of the time crashes our game or lagges it is odd to say the least
and having to play it so often as a game i wanted to play casually as a party game is just not fun
Ill be honest im just having fun and with no cost entry i dont mind the battlepass. I was able to get my two mains the night i first played.

@@adamationsplus8063 yea there seeems to be alot of perspective of it not being the beta but coming from someone who never touched the beta this is a solid game and consisering its free to play i understand the live service model. I did choose to buy 20$ this week but thats out of support for the game. I grew up buying all the same games for 50-60 dollars so a third of that for the enjoyment im having here seems fair.

Yeah, I played with a friend online, and at least one of us would desync and just have them be farmed and lose. Along with the game just being really laggy at times.
Oh yeah the connection has been an issue I’m on PS5 and haven’t had too bad a time but todays where I disconnected the most and had 2 back to back crashes

Yes, they have removed him for the time being due to him having an infinite combo that was very easy to pull off. He’s being reworked and he’ll come back at some point

Just because it was there before doesn’t excuse it. And even if it’s standard practise, that doesn’t make it alright. Even in comparison to other games with Battle Passes, Multiversus doesn’t make it feel like the player makes much progress.
On top of that there are other ways to monetise without a Battle Pass

They took away far too many perks, I thought if anything they'd add more, the game seems unbalanced now with certain characters like Arya who doesn't have the highest jump that was a great perk for her, and they did nothing about the most broken character Shaggy and his power to do 20 to 40 damage off 1 hit

This has to be easily one of the worst platform fighters I've ever played, which sucks because they had a fantastic idea here and they blew it.
This game is so bad at unlocking characters that the joker himself doesn’t find it funny, my problem with the beta is that the money you receive from losing was 3 or 0 coined and it made me quit the game but now it made even worse and it becomes pay to play, I hope they can fix it but other then that if more characters are worth 6,000 gems then I’m not gonna be playing the game anymore.
