    • @RealtyPro7
      @RealtyPro7 Год назад +1

      For myself I like to see reliable penetration beyond just the basic 12-18 inches in gel with clothing guidelines. That’s a depth they use as minimum performance IMO. Any good 9mm or 380 can do that, both calibers that I do like. But since I prefer larger calibers for carry like 10mm and sometimes 45acp, I expect to see 18-24” of gel with clothing. With a much more Xtreme wound channel of course. That’s why I really like the Underwood Xtreme Defender ammo. It’s truly barrier blind and the most consistently performing ammo I’ve ever seen or tested.
      I do have a ton of this Hornady lever gun ammo for my 500 magnum handgun though. (And for my lever guns). It’s pushing serious power out of the 10.5” barrel with the comp.

      @@af7119 Oh I know, I just meant that for me personally I consider that standard range a little low. Meaning a max of 18” is just a tad less than I want for myself. It’s a good general range for most needs, without real barriers. But I like a range of 18”-22”, and don’t mind having some ammo that reaches 24”. Or more if it’s for hunting or bear etc. I’m a long time fan of 10mm when it’s “real” 10mm. My main edc is a G20.

    Have been waiting for someone to do a video with these rounds out of a revolver. Great expansion plus speed when one considers the ratings were from much longer barrels. Not sure I'd use one as a home defense round due to over penetration. As always, another fun and interesting video.

  • @furmanmackey5479
    @furmanmackey5479 Год назад

    I was set dead on ready to argue that that the Lever Evolution stuff would not work at all in a revolver because two men I have trusted my life to, have had no luck at all with the rounds in THEIR revolvers due to "binding" (I think that is the correct term) due to the plastic tips extending just enough past the cylinder faces and against the forcing cones to make the revolvers "one shot wonders" One of those revolvers is a .357 Ruger while the other, in .44, is a S&W. While I'm not a fan of the Lever Evolution in my lever guns, for hunting purposes, I have long felt they SHOULD work nicely in revolvers in close cover hunting situations best suited for revolvers with 6 to 7in barrels or "trapper" length carbine lever gun barrels in the 16 to 18in range when ranges are so short the bullets should actually expand as advertised. Thanks again for an excellent video! Keep 'em comin'!!!

    • @ToolsandTargets
      @ToolsandTargets  Год назад +1

      Interesting. I know reloaders don't like these cases because they're cut shorter than others. I bet it has something to do with keeping that insert short enough.🤔

    • @furmanmackey5479
      @furmanmackey5479 Год назад

      @@ToolsandTargets I strongly suspect you are correct as the "plastic tip stuff" is basically trash brass, case length wise, for reloading purposes when talking lever guns with non-plastic tip bullets. I'm still impressed that Lever Evolution ammo works in revolvers of any make or model considering what the friends I mentioned above experienced with their otherwise excellent revolvers.
