Love Glenn Gould😍 Also, Alice Munro and Margaret Atwood(?) Always quite curious of us what Canadians think of them~~ And Lenard Cohen, is he controversial or not?~~~
@@詠萱-5oiI'm not sure what most Canadians think of Munro and Atwood... But Cohen is very well respected amongst those who care enough to even know who he is.
He "almost" sat on a regular piano seat. You can't hear it, but Gould's chair was screaming at him to not flirt with other chairs! Thus Gould's reaction.
@@hercalexopoulos3647 I knew Gould slightly. I used to eat at the same late night restaurant in the late 70's. So we had a few talks. I still visit his grave a few times a year.

St Anthony's Sermon to the Fishes, from Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn. It's where the scherzo was derived from. Give the song a spin, it's actually pretty funny.
So true about piano chair being part of the family. Lol. I have a love/hate relationship with mine very much like a sibling relationship. He's extremely comfortable and reliable but pipes up at completely the wrong moments.
@@wuwupiano Yeah I remember hearing that tidbit in a documentary about him. @@teresagardiner153 he lived all his life basically isolated and hated interacting with people to the point he stopped making concerts. How could he be an attention seeking fool?
It's probably a folk song of some kind. However if you listen to Mahler it's definitely recognizable because he used it in his 2nd symphony, 3rd movement.
I wouldn't be who I am today if I hadn't listened to Gould's interpretation of Bach when I was a kid (The CD was called The Gould Variations). For me, there never was and never will be a better pianist for Bach's keyboard works than Glenn Gould.
He was a real weirdo. lol. Like many brilliant people. He would completely script his own interviews just to have an excuse to ramble about the subjects he wanted to. haha. That shit I have to skip. But I love Gould.
Martha Argerich? 👀
Love her but she’s not exactly funny so do Andras schiff unless that’s already Been done

Hahaha, well, he clarifies he doesn’t hate individuals, but what they constitute in group for a performer like himself
Gould was a crazy man. Genius.

I think a lot of geniuses had their own eccentricities. :)
He was always quite a character. I remember when I first heard his first recording of the Goldberg Variations. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
Gould was unique, very neurotic, a wildly talented genius, and about 2/3rds crazy as well. Fascinating.💎
Best Bach interpreter and Also completely eccentric, gotta love him, his touch was incredible

He’s being Glenn Gold ✨
he’s the closest thing we will ever get to a real life willy wonka
