I swear on my mother, I’m watching this on my TV, and I pressed pause to grab my phone to make this exact comment hahaha Ken Griffey Jr. is the literal GOAT. He is, and always will be, my favorite baseball player of all time!
I'm sorry, but outside of the USA barely anybody knows who he is. I don't wana down talk him, I guess he is a great athlete. And I suspect he likes that nobody knows who he is since baseball is not a thing in Kenya
I didn’t know Ken Griffey Jr. was into photography as well. He was may favorite player when I was a kid. Awesome behind the scenes. It helps show what things to consider before embarking on something like this.
Wait, I thought that was a joke... I def had a Ken Griffy Jr. baseball card when I was like 8! I'm 34 now... people on RUclips are always joking and calling out famous names, but is this actually factual lol
I went to Zambia and Rwanda last September and was blown away. Had the 24-105 and 100-500 with my R5. It was all I needed. Really looking forward to either Kenya or Botswana in the near future. Thanks for the photos. Great job.
Jared, I would love to go with you on a safari. I think everyone would. The thing is, I know for most people, it would be hard to pay for the trip. You are still one of the best RUclipsrs that I have ever watched. Blessed that I came upon your channel. Thanks!
Such an awesome piece from beginning to end. Thank you Jared. I shoot with one of the cameras featured here and really appreciate the point being made at the end. When I started shooting wildlife it was all about high megapixels and having the subject fill the frame (essentially animal/bird portraits). I now take a much more environmental approach that I think makes for far more compelling images. Do you see every feather in ultimate detail? No. Do you see and understand the environment that the animal lives in and interacts with? Absolutely.
I am Kenyan and based in Nairobi, I have been a big fun of yours for as long as your channel has existed. It will be a pleasure to meet you face to face 🤞
2:43 this was an awesome shot. Got the 24-105mm out just in time too. 3:44 also, this one blew me away. That background is breathtaking. This was an awesome video. Loads of awesome shots of the wildlife, the landscapes, and of course Ken Griffey Jr.
The opening montage of photos are stunning. Wow! That little plane looks terrifying to me. Thanks for this compilation and telling us what lenses you were using. Thank you very much for the Wildebeast warning. I moved quickly past it.
Africa is a magical place. No where else on earth can you see this diversity of wildlife up close in its natural environment. Going on my second safari soon and will probably start planning my third shortly after I get back home. Beautiful story and photos as always!
What incredible imagery!! An African safari trip is one of my true goals to be able to do. I have always had a love for Africa. I felt your video on equipment you were taking was great and seeing you utilize it while on the shoot, is informative and entertaining. Thanks so much for the videos! The trip of a lifetime!
I love this!! Absolutely beautiful photos! Nature at its absolute finest. I wanna do something similar to this but w/ Wolves in Yellowstone. Incredible work sir. Too funny that’s we get some cameos of Ken Griffey Jr like it’s no big deal. He’s just another photographer on an incredible safari. Keep up the fantastic work, Jared. Much love and respect sir.
Hi Jared, Wow! Great video, amazing photos. The photos of the pilots was masters of aviation. The lion photos those were incredible. The B&W photos were amazing too. Thank you Jared for taking the time to share your African trip experience to us. 👍
Great Trip - Would Have been great to see the settings and camera / lens text under each of the shots as well as your pre-set used to guide photographers for their bucket list trip.
This is really fun to watch photos and clips of you guys and all those lives and safari. Those nice camera shots make me want to go for safari for the first time,
Wonderful photos and video-just what I needed! I'm heading to Maasai Mara for a safari and then to Uganda for gorilla trekking in early October. I'm planning to bring my R5 with the 24-105mm. However, I'm torn between taking the 100-500mm or the 200-800mm. Which one would you recommend? Thanks!
I loved my trip to Kenya and can't wait to go back! Last time I only brought a canon eos R with a 70-200 f4 and the 15-35 f2.8 and got amazing shots. Went for a family funeral but ended up going to the Masai Mara for a few days. Best thing about going on a safari with you (besides just the potential access to some crazy gear lol) would be talking shop and picking your brain about photography. I also speak a little Swahili which can be helpful 😂
Hey Jared! You still in Kenya...am your number one fan in Kenya, You have inspired my photography in a big way...I would like to meet you and take a photo with you.
he might come back in Dec as he says in the video. lets find out if he would be willing to join up with a few local fans for his next safari. it would be great.
Great photos and video. Looks like I was watching a high end wildlife documentary. Just goes to show that it doesn't matter how famous you are, you're just 'one of the photographers' when on a trip of a lifetime.
Great work Jared…love this video! I’m curious to hear what your preferred auto focus setting is for this type of photography considering the variation of subjects and motion… I understand there’s no ‘one setting to rule them all’ but would still interested to know.
I’m not a nature photography type guy. It’s never interested me. But oh my I think you changed my mind to some extent. Your images are beautiful, man. Damn. Thanks for sharing.
I really enjoyed the video. It was well worth the wait, and I feel like you got some amazing images. I enjoy the occasional tightly cropped animal portraits that you could have gotten with a 600mm, but I’d prefer images that include the environment like these do every time. Well done!
I can't believe this video came out. This is literally the choice I'm deciding for my 2nd body to pair with my 5D Mark IV for an Antarctica trip this winter and an African safari next spring.
My question for you in regards to wildlife. Do I need the high frame rates? I prefer larger wildlife that are more stationary and don't move as quick. My options for a camera are between the R6 II, A7IV or the A9 II
Great video. I was just in Kenya. Had an a1 and 70-200 f2.8. And an a9iii with a 300 f2.8 and both teleconverters. Got all the shots I wanted. By the way… it’s a wildebeest. There is no r !
Jared, You should make a video of what you took on your last safari and what you are taking on your second safari. My guess is you will be taking less with you the second time around.
Great Video. You were very fortunate to get the opportunity to see some of conditions to take shots you did. Awesome job! I saw this at exactly the wrong time. I leave for Botswana next week and was sure I wanted to take my 200-600 (Sony). Now I'm thinking the much lighter 100-400 may be appropriate for my long lens. I can use this for my crop sensor camera to get 600mm and have a 35-150 for my short lens. I'm also taking a 14-24 for some astro shots. You're killing me! Any opinion OH Fro'ed one?
Excellent captures Jared, the photos as well as the videos are a standouts. Did you miss using a lens longer than the 400 mm??. I love your videos and I am an admirer of your frank assessment of various camera gears. I certainly have learnt a lot from your videos and am continuing to learn 😊
Brilliant photos in this, some of the photos were edited with too much saturation for my liking however they are your photos and the scenes are amazing. It would be super interesting to see something like an R7 in your kit for next time. For people interested in wildlife photography, the saving from a crop sensor camera can go towards glass and it would be great to demonstrate that a crop sensor still captures amazing images. Shouldn't take up too much room in your bag either. Last one, how do you know the photographer was male ... 16:38 .. enough said.
I can really appreciate the comedy in this video, and also the scene where they hyenas and lions are feeeding, wow thats crazy, more travel content from you Jared Please ! Great Video!
Patience=Photography. Right now up stairs out of my south facing window I am doing Storm/Lightning photos. Using a Fujifilm X-S20 with the 18-55mm f2.8 lens. I am doing 6.5 seconds with F7 and ISO 160. So far I have a few great shots. Two houses down they have a large radio antenna. I might get lucky. Big storm in western Washington. ❤
Great BTS footage. And I made it a habit to loop my camera to my belt loops on my pants. I've been on a boat while shooting and that gave me peace of mind. Thank glob it was all soft grass/dirt
28:53 i recently had the privilege of visiting Amboseli, it was a great experience. i might go on another safari for more photos. we should join each other on the next one. i shoot with A7R III, 35-150mm & 150-500mm.
Casually going on safari with one of the greatest athletes of all time and barely mentioning is the craziest flex you’ve ever pulled off😂😂
Facts my inner child would been screaming it’s Griffey jr!!!
I swear on my mother, I’m watching this on my TV, and I pressed pause to grab my phone to make this exact comment hahaha
Ken Griffey Jr. is the literal GOAT. He is, and always will be, my favorite baseball player of all time!
I'm sorry, but outside of the USA barely anybody knows who he is. I don't wana down talk him, I guess he is a great athlete. And I suspect he likes that nobody knows who he is since baseball is not a thing in Kenya
I thought he was joking… then I recalled seeing an article about Griffey shooting an NFL game (? Iirc)
Я его кроме как в америке кто нибудь знает!?)
I didn’t know Ken Griffey Jr. was into photography as well. He was may favorite player when I was a kid. Awesome behind the scenes. It helps show what things to consider before embarking on something like this.
So is his old teammate Randy Johnson
I thought this was going to be a joke, but no it's actually a former professional baseball player.
I believe he has been shooting sporting events.
Wait, I thought that was a joke... I def had a Ken Griffy Jr. baseball card when I was like 8! I'm 34 now... people on RUclips are always joking and calling out famous names, but is this actually factual lol
Randy Johnson as well.
Jokingly, Jared slipped one by us with the highly excited zebra at 16:38. I like a little dry humor.
The scene with the dung beetle pushing the huge lob of crap helped to remind me of my own life’s daily issues.. 😂
That was impressive, that little beetle pushing the big poop ball.
I went to Zambia and Rwanda last September and was blown away. Had the 24-105 and 100-500 with my R5. It was all I needed. Really looking forward to either Kenya or Botswana in the near future. Thanks for the photos. Great job.
Those Kilimanjaro shots are insane!!
Thanks for the ride-along, this is absolutely amazing. Photos are epic, and your house-tent was very impressive. Enjoyed this a ton, so awesome 👏🏻
It is awesome that we are still getting Kenya content! I hope I will be able to go someday.
Consider coming to Zimbabwe. There is Hwange National Park and Victoria falls. Plenty of animals especially elephants.
Jared, I would love to go with you on a safari. I think everyone would. The thing is, I know for most people, it would be hard to pay for the trip. You are still one of the best RUclipsrs that I have ever watched. Blessed that I came upon your channel. Thanks!

I am Kenyan and based in Nairobi, I have been a big fun of yours for as long as your channel has existed. It will be a pleasure to meet you face to face 🤞
The R3 is killing it !
Maybe my favorite video of yours. Just excellent, and who would not love a photo safari with the "Fro"!
2:43 this was an awesome shot. Got the 24-105mm out just in time too.
3:44 also, this one blew me away. That background is breathtaking.
This was an awesome video. Loads of awesome shots of the wildlife, the landscapes, and of course Ken Griffey Jr.
For some reason i am super pumped that you came to kenya, you got fans all the way
Wow! I been waiting so long for a vlog of your safari! So excited :)
This would be a trip of a lifetime amazing photos
The safari would be amazing. Hanging with JR.... Priceless
Love this vlog! Reminds me that my a7iii , is good enough to do this . Everyone take Your cameras, and go shoot!
Fantastic content. Kenya has been on my bucket list for some time. Absolutely stunning images. Thanks for taking us on your journey.
This would be a trip of a lifetime, amazing photos and video
The opening montage of photos are stunning. Wow! That little plane looks terrifying to me. Thanks for this compilation and telling us what lenses you were using.
Thank you very much for the Wildebeast warning. I moved quickly past it.
Why do the lions and other animals stay off the photo vehicles?
Africa is a magical place. No where else on earth can you see this diversity of wildlife up close in its natural environment. Going on my second safari soon and will probably start planning my third shortly after I get back home. Beautiful story and photos as always!
The Kid just seemingly randomly walking up to the tent was pure poetry. Love this whole video. Sign me up for the next trip 😂
I think one of your greatest...most epic...videos to date! Love the story of nature in full effect.
Looks like an amazing trip! So many fantastic photos! It was very enjoyable to get a view of your safari.
Absolutely enjoyed this video while sipping my morning coffee. Thanks Jared.
This is one of the most beautiful sets of photos I’ve ever seen.
Jared, that was awesome! I felt like I was there with you. Thank you so much! My favorite video of yours so far!
As an African living in Africa, I absolutely loved experiencing this through your lens. Thanks and well done.
Awesome close footage and steady ! Thanks to sharing such a wonderful content! All the best’s from Switzerland!
wow! Kenya my mother land.
Great video Jared! This has always been my favorite type of content from you.
That might be the nicest “tent” (or tent-adjacent structure I’ve ever seen.
I wouldn’t be able to fall asleep in that tent. i would have had one eye open all night like CBS.
Nice video! Can't wait for "Canon vs Sony on Google Chrome"
My favorite video of yours to date! Loved it!
Insane photos. Super excellent work. Thanks.
Hi Jared, Wow! Great video, amazing photos. The photos of the pilots was masters of aviation. The lion photos those were incredible. The B&W photos were amazing too.
Thank you Jared for taking the time to share your African trip experience to us. 👍
This was outstanding. Loved every minute.
Great Trip - Would Have been great to see the settings and camera / lens text under each of the shots as well as your pre-set used to guide photographers for their bucket list trip.
Welcome to Kenya Jared.... We love your content
This is really fun to watch photos and clips of you guys and all those lives and safari. Those nice camera shots make me want to go for safari for the first time,
The pictures with Mount Kilimanjaro were classic!
Amazing images of an amazing location. Thank you for sharing!
Maybe the best video on your channel ! Some photos are stunning like in the plane, or the team. Congrats for this review, really interesting !
Love all your content. Great job
I love these nature shots. The photography is great!!! And Goals.
Thanks!
I think 200-800 is toooo much and loss of light is a lot. I showed what I used.
Breathtaking shots Jared. Nice work. Would love to know which safari outfit/travel agencies you used.
That was Awesome Jared- Keep up the great work!
I loved my trip to Kenya and can't wait to go back! Last time I only brought a canon eos R with a 70-200 f4 and the 15-35 f2.8 and got amazing shots. Kenya is home I wish I knew you were coming jared.. Am a photographer based in kenya..

I would definately be interested in going on a photo safari like this. Please keep us posted! Loved the video of your adventure.
Who was the safari provider that you used in Kenya?
18:52 we all love photography but videos are incredible ❤
Great photos and video. Looks like I was watching a high end wildlife documentary. Just goes to show that it doesn't matter how famous you are, you're just 'one of the photographers' when on a trip of a lifetime.
Wow, that was awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Holy crap, that was Ken Griffey JR!!!
Aka Mystery Man
Thank you for sharing. Best video.

Great work Jared…love this video!
I’m curious to hear what your preferred auto focus setting is for this type of photography considering the variation of subjects and motion…
I understand there’s no ‘one setting to rule them all’ but would still interested to know.
Wow. Safari alone would be a life long dream come true. Safari with Ken Griffey Jr...damn. Absolutely beautiful images.

Perfect Video!
I’m not a nature photography type guy. It’s never interested me. But oh my I think you changed my mind to some extent. Your images are beautiful, man. Damn. Thanks for sharing.
That feels like ages ago. Glad we got some more coverage of that safari.
Yeah. I'd be interested in going. Been to Namibia and South Africa, but plenty of other places to go.
I really enjoyed the video. It was well worth the wait, and I feel like you got some amazing images. I enjoy the occasional tightly cropped animal portraits that you could have gotten with a 600mm, but I’d prefer images that include the environment like these do every time. Well done!
Jared,Please do a review of the Fujifilm XH2S + XF 150-600mm+xf 200mm f2 lens for wildlife and sports .
Just love your reviews
Loving the Rockford Files vibe at the start.
I can't believe this video came out. This is literally the choice I'm deciding for my 2nd body to pair with my 5D Mark IV for an Antarctica trip this winter and an African safari next spring.
I have to say fantastic videos and images. You really said a story through this video
These shots are amazing man great job
Casually shooting with Ken Griffey Jr is legerndary! As a kid he was an Idol
My question for you in regards to wildlife. Do I need the high frame rates? I prefer larger wildlife that are more stationary and don't move as quick. My options for a camera are between the R6 II, A7IV or the A9 II
I have the A7R V and find it's great as you get extra 'zoom' should you need it, thanks to the 61MP. Also the AI AF is fantastic too.
Great video. I was just in Kenya. Had an a1 and 70-200 f2.8. And an a9iii with a 300 f2.8 and both teleconverters. Got all the shots I wanted. By the way… it’s a wildebeest. There is no r !
Oh my God.. that's awesome.. this is the best content for adventures of photography ❤
Jared, You should make a video of what you took on your last safari and what you are taking on your second safari. My guess is you will be taking less with you the second time around.
Such an awesome video, I love all your stuff but this is too cool!

Great video, headed to Kenya on Tuesday!
amazing !!!! elphant pics with kilimandjaro behind are beautifull !
The shot at 3:44 is insane!
Going on a safari with Jared would be awesome. Would love to learn how to make Brent Stirton type of photos with the right subjects!
I can really appreciate the comedy in this video, and also the scene where they hyenas and lions are feeeding, wow thats crazy, more travel content from you Jared Please !
