No snark, no trolls, this was one of the most enjoyable RUclips videos I’ve watched in a long while. Killed it. Hope this can cover the cost of a future roll for you.
@@grainydaysss i had the same fun with the WP-1. I moved to a Konica Genba Kantoku 35WB Eco construction camera. Sharper lens, better build, love that thing. I even picked up the "Zoom" model that has a 28-56mm. I bet you could drop them off your bike on the highway and they'd keep going. There's a 28mm prime version too. Great stuff man.
I love it when Jason hires some Craigs List strangers to be his “friends” for a photography road trip. And, I gotta say, their “friendship” is very convincing and entertaining. Jason's photos slap, too-or, as he would say, “okay, I guess.” Anyway, thank you for blessing my feed with a long form photography road trip video-I always love watching those.
Since this is getting so much love, here’s for more of this stuff, a roll of film, and the “bushman of San Francisco” line. I LMAO on that because I actually knew who you meant and I haven’t been there in 20 years.
Hey Jason, it was great meeting you at Old Faithful, I was looking forward to this video. By the way, my 16mm magazine film actually came out looking pretty good.
Great video. The best picture, three ladies on the benches. Perfect composition, amazing colors, the right film and technique. Beachy vibes in Yellowstone! A stunner in my book.
You mentioned about exposing slide film. I shot slide film 35 years as a photographer very rarely shooting print film. As you know exposing for the highlights is one thing, but since we did this for a living, normally we would always request a clip test. That way we were pretty much assured of a great exposure. The extra few dollars for a clip as always worth it. That is all I’ve got, like your videos.
Those night shots on film: this works for me every time. Especially with neon signs and especially at twilight when the light is changing every few minutes: I use an A7R4 but any digital camera with an EVF will work. Set up the camera so the EVF shows your actual exposure instead of that mode where it tries to see in the dark. Put the camera in manual mode. Tweak exposure until you like what the EVF is showing you. Set your film shooter to the same exposure value. Fire off one shot and do one more at +1 EV. You waste a shot bracketing but when traveling I’ll burn film to get the shot. Usually I end up liking the +1 EV exposure best, especially with C41 film. E6 film, it’s a coin toss.
Your aspect ratio changes are so much fun. And the hidden sound effects always get me. 😂 Been to Yellowstone a bunch of times and it was fun to see your take on the sights. Great work.
I was just in Yellowstone no more than a month ago and in some cases standing exactly where you stood, so seeing how you chose to make photos there is a really unique thing. Pleasure speaking with you at B&C!
Such a great video man, I always enjoy these type of long photography videos because it relaxes me, I would like to thank you deeply for this smooth episode, Well each time I watch one of your videos I get inspired to go out to do shots in nature or on the streets even though that I am not an analog photographer, Thank you again and stay Grainy.
Okay my men. Your Photographie is amazing! You are doing amazing and I just stumbled upon your video. Please merely keep going your fotos are amazing!!
I live nearby there. To me it's paradise on earth. I spent many weekends with my dad in Yellowstone & I've hiked many of the trails throughout the Tetons. I love photographing there.
I am not sure why I watched this all the way through. I am the opposite of everything you stand for; Abbot Kinney hats, film cameras, a general ennui. But i still subscribed. Nice work!
I had an art studio south of Jackson about 44 years ago. Loved the area, I sketched portraits in the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for a time also. Lots of great looking tetons.
20 something years ago broke down in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Bought a truck to make it to the PNW. 3 months later, cleaned the truck, found a finger under the seat. Ain’t been back since.
Think what our Photography-Master once said to us “... my ally is the PHOTO-MOJO, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the PHOTO-MOJO around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere...”
Love the road shot at 25.41! Any sense of how much you all spent in fun, processing and scanning for the week? I’m guessing it came close to matching hotels… great video, thank you!
I did a similar trip in mid to late July. 9 days in Yellowstone and one in the Tetons. Shot some lovely ektachrome at the grand prismatic spring. It would have been fun to run into you there!
The magical time zone differece between LA and Helsinki allows me to enjoy this video as I have just come home from the bar on a thursday night, fucking hammered out of my mind. I bet I can't remember anything in the morning, just as the lord intended.
I'm convinced Jason only shows us brushing his teeth to show Monica he does it while he's not home.
Babe wake up, one hour vid from the "ok ... I guess" guy
Temu Oppenheimer
My girlfriend calls him the 'film photography sadboi' haha

Temu Oppenheimer just made me double over laughing. Thanks for that.
single bison atop a scenic ridge gotta be one of my favorite things
Are cameras just spawning in Davids bag?! every 10 minutes he has a new camera!

an hour long grainy days video. best bday gift :)
Sitting back with a drink and watching one of your long-form road-trip videos is so enjoyable. There are some terrific images.
12:01 Lmao nooooo, David’s “leave the expensive camera on the ground” habit is rubbing off on Jason 😂
😈
This video is an absolute vibe. Absolutely love it!
Could only binge so many of your videos so many times. Another one added to the collection
Jason what kind of sick joke is this, my week long trip to Wyoming just got canceled.
The amount of fish caught bare-handed is more impressive than any of the photos 💀
So glad Jason finally posted, I was starting to self depreciate myself
thank you Jason, your video coming out right before a 10 hour flight is much needed.
18:24 What a shot! love the growing frame, really gets it to sink in 👏👏👏
My favorite gang is back together for another trip!

There should be a drinking game for every time David brings out a new camera holy hell
I grew up in Wyoming and Montana...thanks for taking me back to Wyoming. The Tetons and Yellowstone are special places.
13:43 brother this looks like a painting, maybe one of my favorites you have taken. Absolutely enamored by the aerochrome

Can’t describe how happy a new grainydays video makes me feel
Probably one of my favorite youtube videos of all time, insane work like always Jason!
this was the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning in the UK. I would love to go to Wyoming.
Dang. That was a good video. Some great portfolio shots in there too. Thanks for keeping me company.
What I love about grainydays is that you don't even have to have an interest in photography as long as you have an interest in farts and diarrhea.
I felt that
Another fun packed episode. Enjoyed the almonds in the Sauna !
Ridiculously scenic; you have to share these soundtrack references too! Amazing beats across the video.
Your style of photography actually needs us lousy tourists in frame to complete the nostalgia. Nice work. You're reopening film art to the rest of us.
Okay my men. Your Photographie is amazing! You are doing amazing and I just stumbled upon your video. Please merely keep going your fotos are amazing!!
thanks for the effort of the video, its so calm and relaxing. thanks so much for sharing!
Jason, you are SO hard on yourself. That shot with the mailboxes at sunset is Banger CITY, population: that photo!
Dude. +1 for the lane splitting skills. Awesome. 😎

The gang is back together 🫡
Long form Jason is my favorite Jason. Always inspires me to get my ass off the couch and go shoot.
That Ole' Faithful/woman laying on a bench color infrared shot is fire!
Love the Midsommar-esque music in the final section. Lovely video. :)
That picture of the people waiting for old faithful... freaking sweet.
Yeah my job can wait, time to binge this real quick.
Kentmere 100 in 120, box speed, or rated down to 80... you might like it. Lovely images. As usual, some of the ones you hated, I liked.
Hey man, that was really relaxing. Thanks for distracting me from the massive hurricane outside. Keep creating.
We got sulphuric ass cheese, fishing, poetry and metal, bloody rivers! It was a good day!
Not gonna lie those fish comps were convincing haha
Skipped going to the movies for this, absolutely worth it.
look at this guy giving analogue photography a go. i bet he shoots mostly digital.
would love to see a portfolio review of you going over your favorite photos you have taken :)
I felt like I watched a Blade Runner western, great background music ! good luck hunting electric bisons , cheers !
If you ever come this way again, I'll tell you a few less known spots. Great video.
A lovely long one. Cheers Jason. 😊
This video gave me some nostalgia.
The last time i was in Yellow Stone was in 2017. I'm from Europe.
Great story and journey. Loved it!
Kentmere pushed two stops with a splash of orange so the film actually looks good 😂 you nailed it lol.
You know, half the time I don't even watch the video. Just listen to Jason's calming timbre.
20 something years ago broke down in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Bought a truck to make it to the PNW. 3 months later, cleaned the truck, found a finger under the seat. Ain’t been back since.
Probably best episode yet!

Watching this vid while just coming back from Yellowstone/Teton parks
Very insightful, thanks very much! These are some very useful tips, honestly I never thought of this before. It makes a lot of sense.

I would love for you to do a video on how you actually shoot these videos of yours. Really great how it’s all documented 👍🏻
I did a similar trip in mid to late July. 9 days in Yellowstone and one in the Tetons. Shot some lovely ektachrome at the grand prismatic spring. It would have been fun to run into you there!
