Hey guys, here is the last video before the re-brand, if you have no clue what I'm talking about, check out yesterday's upload and that explains everything. As for the two watches here, which do you prefer, the Escapement Time or San Martin? Let me know and enjoy your Sunday.
Escapement would have won a "visibility" category because one of the biggest flaws of the SM is you can barely see the hands. Therefore you can barely read the time!
As a bloke that grew up in the 80's ET (as an acronym) has a warm spot in my heart, can "phone home" any time soon! 😋 Cheers Wes, happy "new" (?!) channel (name!).
Your content is so high quality and consistent, hope the algorithm pushes you harder, look forward to the new branding, wish you left up some of the old school tech reviews :)
Gotta say on camera the escapement gallops away, much better looking. I've no doubt the SM is "better" but I dont GAF, the Escapement is gorgeous, Ive got a ET flieger and the strap has worn quickly.
I think San Martin is more on the Vintage part, which would be better to compare it to Baltany (they have a great collection of vintage watches with 99$ and have sub-seconds, which I love!). Otherwise, as usual, great content! I'm a bit divided between Chameri or Escapement Time though, both are great, although the Chameri is slightly cheaper. I must say I love "Escapement Time" wordings better than "Chameri" though (I might belong to the minority here... LOL).
@@WesWatchRoom You will be surprised if you like vintage military watches.. they have a great lineup, also some quartz watches at the lower price spectrum as well.. 😄
An important consideration for some enthusiasts is whether or not the second hand hits the markers precisely. It should be easier for ET's movement to do this as the max error is less than 0.25sec. But neither watch guarantees alignment precision. AFAIK Grand Seiko and some Casios have a mechanism in its quartz movements that works on alignment accuracy.
Yeah its a bit a of pot luck, I've had cheap watches that hit perfect and some expensive ones that don't. Only a few guarantees this and you mentioned one. Thanks
Great comparison mate! Even though I prefer SM on looks department especially with the crown, cannot really argue with the value proposition ET offers!
I think here the Esc. time is the winner cause of the legibility style and price,San martin is well noted as a better quality product but i cannot see it here,😊😊
Escapement time looks better. Original is good but classic design is the one that stands the test of time and is more desirable. Quality wise is no competition. San Martin wins hands down.
Have to agree that overall the San Martin is better. However I wouldn't give extra points to San Martin as it's not really an original either. For me it's homaging the King Seiko no date 5621-7022 hi beat dress watch. There is also a GS with that minute track but can't remember which model it is, might be a mix of the two. In SM's defence it's not easy to design something that's really original. San Martin have been know to say original design, even though it's not, including a diver recently that if I remember correctly was really a Tissot Seastar. Personally I'd take away the originality points but still the SM is the winner for me. However Escapement Time is no slouch either. Excellent review... Only other thing about the SM is legibility, silver hands on a black dial can be difficult to read at certain angles and in certain light conditions.
Thank you mate and as far as I knew I thought it wasn't based upon anything but it's based on something obscure then I'm not likely going to have heard of it. Hence the score. But either way, which one you pick is a great watch. Cheers
Only area SM has the edge imo is case finish (which we expected) beyond that its the ET all day long . Legibility , price , overall appeal & value , i'm afraid the SM doesn't come close .
Fair enough mate, I've actually double checked the legibility and my lighting setup seems to play a significant role in it. Unfortunately can't really change it due to space limitations. But it's given me an idea of how to shoot different for the next one

In some situations for sure, but the lighting in my video does contribute towards that too. Thanks

Thank you mate, appreciate that and for the continued support.
The Escapement time seems to read much clearer through most of this video.
Agreed. You can barely see the hands on the SM.
It does, that has a lot to do the hands and also my light setup. Thanks

Thanks mate and hopefully, that would be nice. That's coming tomorrow though I'm not 100% happy with it. But can be improved later on down the line
Awesome comparison mate definitely both are winners in my book
I think that's it, both are solid offerings and you can't go too wrong with either. Cheers mate. Appreciate you watching
@@WesWatchRoom SM should do a negative display version they probably will make a great one
@@watchsixto that would be pretty cool.
Awesome comparison. Congrats on your massive growth. Curious to see your next chapter. All the best mate!
Thanks a ton mate, really appreciate that.
Great comparison
Cheers mate, much appreciated. Which would you choose?

In person it's a bit different, I think the san martin doesn't look as good on camera as in person whereas the escapement looks good in both. Thanks
@@WesWatchRoom Yeah, its getting to the stage where collectors really should get a SM before they become a fully fledged brand.

That is true, perhaps probably not the best comparison on my part. I will look at some of Baltanys stuff though and see what they have. Thanks

100% mate, can't go wrong with either choice. Thanks
I agree with the results ☝🏻.
Can’t wait to see the new channel name!!!
Thank you mate and it'll be live tomorrow morning

I think it's probably a combination of the hands and my lighting setup. I just don't currently have the space for more than one light. Thanks

I don't think you'd honestly be let down by either one to be fair. Thanks for watching

How is the AR coating, especially on the San Martin? Is it good?
Not amazing but not terrible either
Both are nice
Agreed, you can't go wrong with either.
Chameri is the winner !!! 😃
Yeah I've seen good things about that
Still Mr budget watch?
Until tomorrow mate
Mr luxury watch? 😂
@@tanhockjun haha, probably not mate
