  • Although Budapest's center can by explored by foot, some part of the city can be reached more efficiently by public transportation.
Budapest has a fairly extensive and efficient public transportation system, that is also cheaper than in most Western European cities.
I discuss your options to buy tickets and travel cards.
I discuss the metro system, trams, bus services, trolley lines, the suburban railway, Danube boats and also special vehicles (cogwheel, funicular, chairlift and the children's railway). Finally, I mention some further options, such as the public city bikes, car sharing and rentable scooters. Taxis are of course available but unfortunately Uber is not.
    ---ABOUT ME-----------
I am proud local Hungarian living in Budapest.
I was born and have lived in this beautiful city, Budapest for decades. I am in love with it - and not because I haven’t seen anything else. I am a seasoned traveller and I have also spent many years living abroad. However, my heart (and wive, and jobs and goulash soup and lángos) have pulled me back to my birth town. I love this city and know it inside out.
If you are fed up with the formal (and often wrong) recommendations of guide books, then follow my channel to find out advice from real local. I give you practical tips, show you cool spots and help you avoid tourist traps.
I live and love Budapest, I want to share my tips with you.

On the M2, is that a loop? If we just want to sight see can we just stay on and it will deposit you back to where you started? We leave tomorrow for Budapest! You videos have been a huge help!

How do I validate a 72h travelcard? I suppose it only has to be validated before the first ride and that`s it? So, not before every ride I use it?

When the travelcard gets printed your 72h starts ticking. You don't need to validate it anywhere just show it to the ticket inspector if there's any. For the metros they are at the entrance, for buses, trams etc. they might board and check if everyone has a ticket.
