- At this point, the "audio community," as I know it is a complete waste of my time. I recently left all audio Discord servers I was in, besides my own, and drastically slimmed down my own audio server.

I don't know shit about audio but it also drives me crazy when people that don't know shit about my area of expertise join Discord servers asking the same questions while having nothing to contribute to the conversation, meanwhile the owners of the Discords aren't presents nor give a shit as long as people don't spam swastikas, gay porn and grow their brand. Power to you, just hope you can get the people you wish to learn from on board too (often they're too busy with whatever they themselves got going on). And to the people crying, he's free to create whatever environment he wants, the server doesn't have to be for you since there are enough that are, which is his point.

Calm down, you’re not becoming John Royds Culshaw at Stanford. You want to offer lessons, not help record contemporary virtuosi musicians for posterity. I would excuse the hubris completely, if there was an important endeavor behind your compensation request. Audio engineering instructions are less useful than the typical patreon, because none of your tutees are working for Hyperion, Deutsche Grammophon, Erato, Warner Classics, etc.

@@Sharur1 perhaps you can ask Sarah Belle Reid for lessons. She can teach you how to record sound in an ambisonic dome, and how to compose in traditional or contemporary graphic notation. She’s released those recordings for the public to hear.

@@Sharur1 In my country there is no direct Acoustic (not Audio) Engineering source, you would have to study Information Engineering first (Which is what i'm currently doing) then I guess choose Eletronic Engineering and dwelve into the audio section of it.
But yeah again, I understand that studying at a university doesn't leave you with enough time pretty often but this video did come out as pretentious in my opinion.
@@Razar244Depends on the country. In my country, I had to give a competitive exam and rank about 300 among 500,000 people to get into a good university.
Obviously, in western countries you don't have to suffer like this.
I for one am shocked that people argue or are wrong about things in a field which has a large component of subjectivity, amongst a sea of snake oil. Audio Science and DSP development is something very separate, after all.
That sounds a like a mindset of a person that doesn't want to create value if it takes time and effort xD
Isn't it worth it, if you're teaching incompetent people about topics that create Value?
Or alternatively try figuring out a better way to communicate the knowledge even for incompetent people since you can't do it right now? (sounds like a big skill issue from you side, but I hope that you can figure it out soon)
Why even are you learning about Audio if you don't want to share it with others that aren't as knowledgeable?

@@Sharur1 wanting monetary compensation for your time and effort is valid, but do you think that the way you're currently communicating your knowledge creates more value then other options? Do you think that more owned money is worth the exchange of more people staying incompetent?
How about creating more content like your Headphone Mastery Guide or other resources like for example a Q&A you can simply link in any basic discussion?
All the boring and simple stuff can be taught this way without a lot of ongoing effort since you can just send a short link and maybe one or two sentences. It just takes initial investment cost. Afterwards you can add interesting Questions + Answers or Discussions that are more on the Topic that seems to interest you right now.

There are some parts that have high value, but many parts have imo negative value since they often contradict each other since you imo rush your videos out and don't take the time to form convincing arguments and opinions on the Topic.
It's fine to change your opinion on Topics cause of new knowledge, but if you just rush out half knowledge you're creating lots of people that just learn this wrong knowledge...
Like I said if you were to create more content like for example the Headphone guide I'd see more Value in your Channel.
Having recourses with current Knowledge like a Q&A would also be an option since then we'd only get the current knowledge and not the imo rushed content when looking for a Topic later on?
How about a Video on the process of gaining knowledge, that you can link in every video, so that people can understand why you think you're creating value with these imo rushed videos?

When did you join Stanford? Are you a new grad student? I'm a 2nd year PhD student here. I don't know much about audio but I found your videos a few months back and got the Quarks DSP and have been enjoying it. Your videos are funny and I appreciate your intense research into this. I don't know anything about discord but it seems like a waste of your time and it is good that you kicked everyone out.

Cables are not snake old. Good cables are essential for good audio quality. The difference is so obvious, it's not even necessary to A/B test a system with good cables and a system without good cables.

Also, I've been interviewed by Harman 'professional' who is involved in audio system design (from NVH/acoustics to DSP) for OEM Car audio systems. I don't know how this clown got his job, but when I asked about HRTF parameters that they'd use for certain testing..... Dude asked what's a HRTF. My jaw dropped.... Rescinded my interest in the job.

They forget that music is a subjective thing and they focus completely on measurements and numbers. It's the only thing they understand and the feelings they sometimes get from music simply confuses them.
I believe there is some truth to this. As a child, I would spend hours listening to music on the most low-quality, $15 headphones, and I didn’t mind. However, the songs I enjoyed were mixed and mastered on high-quality, often very expensive, speaker systems.

Its most of the headphone / iem hobby or youtuber mostly either produce harman tunning , a tunning that fits majority or a tunning that they like.
I wonder how you would actually graph the iem. Base on your scientific knowledge etc.

But anyway I do feel like it would be interesting to see his version of IEM. Since he critics alot of headphone etc as trash. @calvinyip364 I guess you are not aware that 99.9% IEM are made and designed in China and the 0.1 that are not most the parts were made in China. I don't care of nationality as I am Japanese that has worked in almost every major country. The Chinese made so many models and variations that, by chance alone, some of them are decent, and any person can go to an OEM/ODM and slap their name to it, and whallaaaa your brand is born 😉 even that Zeos r-tard has a model 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Because in music production especially in mixing, I've been into a record label btw, all iems that they used for precision mixing is flat sounding iem although there is no perfect flat sounding iem. The iem and headphones they use were dry and so boring. Though they managed to produce mainstream artists in my country. Do you have any ideas why music producers love to use flat sounding headphones and iems?
