You forgot the bit where Matt must always seem to do this "power scream" that Muse used to do a lot in their early stuff especially with Showbiz and Origin Of Symmetry.
or like he does in Time is running out, or Take a Bow, or ES Part 1: Overture, or in Survival... but not in Drones. Let's not talk about Drones right now
Everything but the vocal was spot on. The lyrics should have a "one word -- pause -- rest of sentence" structure. See Madness ("I -- I can't get these"), Handler ("you -- were my oppressor"), Assassin ("war -- is overdue"), etc.
parasti Psycho (Love-- it will get you nowhere) Dead Inside (Unleash-- a million drones) Animals (Animal-- you're an animal) Starlight (Starlight-- I will be chasing a starlight) Map of the Problematique (Fear-- and panic in the air)
Oh trust me, he is! Believe it or not, there are people out there who are kept up at night debating the ethics surrounding gently telling people that yes, Chris has a synthesizer track mixed in with his bass rig when Muse play Hysteria live... The sound/feel of Hysteria relies IS that sound. It relies heavily on Chris running multiple hefty amps simultaneously, each preceded by a carefully picked/dialled in distortion/fuzz/effect pedal. Add in a clean amp, and DI signal, and that's the meat of it. Then they went one step further, and mirrored every single note Chris played down to the tiniest inflection with a synth (which poor Rich Costey must have spent a whole day EQing to be flawless enough to layer perfectly with the combined bass tracks without turning into a sonic mess). If one ever catches themselves in that dilemma, the answer is.... to let people believe whatever they want to believe.... (at the risk of sounding like that culturally significant dude with cool sunglasses who goes around offering people multicoloured pills). I tend to fall asleep thinking "Eh, I think Chris' best Hysteria tone live was Glastonbury 2004, and that's why I use a Wooley Mammoth/Mastotron pedal as 70% of the sound, dialled in like I'm rushing around like a madman at a music festival. Maaaaan I can't wait to pick my bass up tomorrow". Sleep may or may not occur. Welcome to the brain of someone with ADHD :D
Not gonna lie, as a musician, Muse fan and mix engineer, this is fucking killer! This could actually be a lost demo from basically any of their albums after Showbiz! I fact, fuck it, I can play all the instruments needed..... I might actually cover this, turn it into a full song just so see how far we can go with the quirks of Bellamy, Wolstenholme and Howard!
Ahhh, go on then, it'll be a proper laugh! Will take a while though. It annoys me when people do parodies that actual fans think are a bit shit... You can't parody Rammstein just by singing in German and having vague rock guitars, that's funny to a lot of people, but not to fans. Same goes here, I want an actual hardcore Muse fan to laugh, fuck everyone else who likes a single song off each album!
Any chance of getting the MIDI files for the bass and synth arpeggio? Don't worry if it's too much hassle, I've transcribed plenty of songs by ear after getting cheesed off by totally wrong guitar tab, but it would save me a few hours getting the synth arp right!
Yeah, I think they're different in that they don't (or didn't, I think they have in some of their newer stuff) edit out breath noises, which most other music does
I did this and played it at Wembly, however, they also required 10 other songs which I hadn't thought of. Luckily, I have rather an extensive George Formby repertoire and I'd bought my ukelele with me in case the space synths didn't work. As you can probably guess, my renditions of "When I'm cleaning windows", "Standing by the lampost" and "Ohh where's me washboard" went down a storm with the kids.
Flippin' brilliant. I was dying laughing at first, but this is seriously good stuff. :) One more element to add to make this more Muse-like is to repeat the verses and add a different guitar riff and a different synth arpeggio each time around.
I am a casual Muse fan, but love how polite and self aware the real fans are here. BTW just saw them live for the first time and it was one of my favorite concerts.
Sorry, I had to come back... I am waking up every night, thinking of this and giggling like crazy... I have never realized mocking the band you love can have such an impact, thank youuuuu!!!
The synth isn't even close to the one in Bliss. The only thing they have in common is that they both use arpeggios, which is the thing they're making fun of Muse for. If that's the synth from Bliss, then Muse steal from themselves constantly because they use fast synth arpeggios everywhere.
What melodic concept is that? Anyway it's also almost the same tempo as the synth arpeggios in Knights of Cydonia as well. And it doesn't really matter because he could have used a synth arpeggio at pretty much any tempo because you can find them in almost every Muse song.
9. OCTAVES ON GUITAR! 10. Ensure first verse is twice as long as the second 11. Whammy solo 12. Chorus with heavy vocal effects before going into the main hook
I feel like Muse also adds some small details from here and there and uses weird guitar effects all over their songs and they toy with the whammy a lot too, anyway great video
haha I'm a Muse fan and I appreciate this. Humans are animals of habits so Muse probably didn't set out to make very song this way but once they started working they probably established a mode of operations without even knowing
Their music is Muse's music no matter what, styles change, people get bored and try new stuff, you don't have to like it, but don't belittle an artist for evolving.
My husband was in another room and he yelled "is that Muse?" 😂😂😂
Marilee Lukefahr omg😂
That's how you know it's legit.
Your husband wins everything
ASDFGJKLLFJFN
What a dumbass 😂
This is an insult to muse, now where can I buy the full album
I believe it's already released and it's called Drones.
The Great Sloth Lord yeah
The Great Sloth Lord LOL
Fuck sake😂
You killed me hahahaha

I Was Hearing An Early Version Of Space Dementia...
i know this is a joke but that bass actually sounds pretty badass
Holden Schaat Well yeah it’s basically the bassline to Futurism 😂
*the band pulls this video up while they're recording new music*
Shh, don't give them ideas!
They would though
Thought Contagian follows this formula to a T lol.
Lol, the formula works though
Yeah in case they forget the steps
*extra track of pure breath*
You did it sooo right.
>Matt Bellamy wants to know your location
*[Allow]*
I think he contact it :]
Lyrics:
Cybor lasers
(Heavy breathing)
Are coming for you.
Your welcome
Marcoss I just heard Matt Bellamy sing that. Wow. 😂
Heavy breathing
10/10 best muse lyric
It’s actually cyborg lizards.
You’re welcome.
You’re welcome.
I feel like I should be upset since I’m such a huge muse fan but this is so accurate that it would be wrong to deny it.
Rhett Lila I feel the same, like I wanna feel insulted but it's kind of true
Exactly.
I'm furious but at the same time I can't be because I know it's true.
I watched this ready to get angry for my favorite band and instead I'm laughing my ass off because it's too true
You forgot the bit where Matt must always seem to do this "power scream" that Muse used to do a lot in their early stuff especially with Showbiz and Origin Of Symmetry.
He also forgot the part where you rock the guitar with both hands like EVH
I live for that
or like he does in Time is running out, or Take a Bow, or ES Part 1: Overture, or in Survival...
but not in Drones.
Let's not talk about Drones right now
What exactly do you mean with "power scream"?
like the end part of 'showbiz'
I hate this video because it's so true
Same here
666th like
It's sounds legit like them
The space synths are practically "Bliss"
Because it's basically Futurism.
@@ggdk2865 the bassline is almost the same from Futurism XDXDXDX

Omg i hate that this is true
Wow I have never noticed that, I wonder if it's intentional
1:07 "Needs a weird guitar intro" *Thought about "plug in baby"*
Yeah, that's totally right :-)
You forgot to smash the guitar into the speakers.

WTF. Nope
Alexandre Goeudevert it's a joke
DF_STROMilkyMUSE LMAOOO
I am a massive Muse fan... and if this released a better produced version of this song, I would not be complaining XD
Thank you for this tutorial! I now feel ready to record my masterpiece, "United States of Space Demons"
Matt would be proud
Origin of Symmetry in a nutshell
Yudha Bagaskara Origin of Symmetry kicks ass though
So these steps are the origin of the Origin of Symmetry?
Definitely origin of symmetry in a nutshell.
And we liked it that way!
this sounds just like Futurism lmao
but. like. this is so accurate
You must be a hardcore Muser to make this. I love Muse so much and this sounds like a song they would make. Spot on
Thank you :) I do spend a ton of time in r/muse, and love the band.

You take
the bass of futurism
The effects of blockades
The guitar intro of fury
The lyrics of micro cuts
You get this
Blockades didnt even exist back then lol

this makes me want to listen to muse now thanks
Are we not gonna talk about how it said “pwoper muse song”?
Look Dom, it’s a pwoper muse song!
I am a casual Muse fan, but love how polite and self aware the real fans are here. BTW just saw them live for the first time and it was one of my favorite concerts.

"Pwoper Guitaw" gotta love his pwonunciation
You essentially just took elements from Bliss, Time Is Running Out, and Supremacy.
Oryxthemadbro And Space dementia
Which elements?
And Futurism

That grungy bass tone tho is so spot on.
Omg that's how their songs sounds!
WE NEED A FULL VERSION OF THIS!
I wonder what muse thinks of this video
PotatoLoverz me too!

The bass Is literally Futurism
i went from " ah there is no way to stereotype muse" to " oh..." to " HA lol this is so true" in 1:52
this is life! Thanks for sharing :)
Ok. This is actually really good.
How does this not have millions of views?
If Bliss and Microcuts had a baby
STEP 6.5 distort everything on the solo
This emulates Origin of Symmetry way too well, love it thoough
This.... is so accurate and the best thing I have heard in a while.
Patrizia N. Mohr thank you! Now go listen to some real Muse :)
No no no no, this is how you do it:
1. Find a sick bass line
3. ?!?!?!?!
2. Profit
