What an absolutely lovely gentle girl 🥰!
I learn a lot from these video’s and thanks for explaining (again) how to address the jumping up thing. My younger dog still does it and finding the right balance to correct her but not give her too much attention can be tricky.

What a lovely pup. We just lost our old Lab, so seeing this very gentle, quiet little girl made me feel nostalgic.

Another AWESOME video . Great seeing what a month of training does to a 6 month old .
Before 5 months what are you doing with your pups ? I know you don’t start lead work till 5 or so months so is it just planning with tennis balls and encouraging the follow ?

Love your content. Really covers the nuances of dog training that others gloss over. Would love you help with something...I have a 22 week old golden retriever who is having some retrieve issues. I'll engage her, throw a ball, and she will tear out after it, grab it, look at me at which point ill start running away, she drops the retrieve and comes bolting after me. Any suggestions? I never try more than 1 or 2 retrieves with her a day as to not over so it. Is it maybe as simple as using a different object?

Hi Charlie, your method of training is so right you definitely know what you're doing, but you know that anyway

Hi Charlie! What are your suggestions for a 1yr old WEC who wee wees when excited or nervous? Could be a little or a lot. I just ignore and do not punish. It has gotten better with age for sure. Thank you!!!

Great video, thank you! Any advice to stop my lab (8 months) eating dead animals (birds, rabbits, rats)? I can’t get near her when she has something in her mouth

I would have a long line on all the time, and make it not optional. You can also practice your trade/out command, but to reinforce that they have to come and give you the thing even if they don’t want to, you need the long line for reinforcement. If they grab something, first you grab the line, then you give the command, and then you start following up with reeling them in right away. You can have a reward on hand to give once you disarm them, but I would skip any sort of luring or trying to make it optional. If they grab something and don’t have a line on, and you haven’t worked on it a lot, you’re on the losing end of things, and I would just let it go if it’s not life threatening, and be better prepared next time.
If your dog has more serious issues, and you think they’re going to bite you to guard the dead animal, you need a professional to help you.

Thanks Charlie. When would you start to correct sniffing? I feel like I'm just constantly correcting when trying to teach walking to heel as I am correcting for pulling ahead and for sniffing (mine is also 6.5 months old). Should I just be trying to keep a loose lead for now?

I am also experiencing the same thing with my pup at the same age. Great at home but strong and pulling for a sniff when out. Never see a sniffing pulling dog on these video’s~ Charlie you asked to be challenged well show us a more strong minded pup … ps she’s sooo cute x

@@katiereid5569 Yeah, show us the ones that are more interested in everything else, don't pay attention, don't like praise, bugger off into the next county at the first opportunity, and don't want to come back with anything, but pounce on it and try to eat it.

I am in America and see many people working their dogs and wanting results very quickly. Almost with the goal of training to fast and with e-collars. I believe the slower, more methodical approach is more effective. That is another reason I enjoy your training videos so much. It is a marathon, not a sprint. Thank you.
