Most of my visits to Turkey have been to the Asian side & I've lost count of how many hours I've spent trying to get across the bridge from the old Ataturk airport! Because I'm there for work unfortunately I rarely get a chance to see the good bits! Coming into the airports at Istanbul there are always a bunch of ships at either end of the straight which were missing in the sim. Great flight as always.

15 million people + 3 bridges = lots of podcast listening.

Would love to see a World Update of Turkey. In the last developer stream with Asobo/MS it was mentioned. But it is (of course) a political thing getting the needed data. As I understood the data needs to stay inside Turkey, so they're thinking about having servers in Turkey to upload data from. But anyway, I think that's in a more distant future. Especially with the current goverment. 😉
    Great fligh as always!

What an interesting thing that is. I guess I can understand photogrammetry, since people would need to be flying planes around the area. But just general satellite data? It seems weird that anyone needs to get special permission, but that appears to be the case in a lot of areas.

The courthouse reminds me of the US district courthouse in downtown KCMO but the Turkish one looks a lot bigger. Check the spelling on your thumbnail 😉 see you tonite!

Ugh, thanks ... that's what I get for trying to do anything after midnight. I'll swap that out when I get home.

I think it was cheaper in the Marketplace by a buck or two.

    Is istanbul huge? Area wise?

    • @MSFSFlightPlans
      @MSFSFlightPlans  3 месяца назад

It seemed to be decent sized, but I would have thought 15 million seemed too high based on what we saw on the ground. I think of places like Sao Paulo or Mexico City as "huge" population wise. Once you get to India and China, it's a whole nother level of huge.

I looked on the maps, and istanbul has almost the same size as sao paulo. The thing with istanbul is, that it is more stretched east to west compared to other cities. But thanks man@@MSFSFlightPlans

That's interesting ... it just didn't "feel" as big. Did you get the same vibe, or did it seem to fit its billing?

@@MSFSFlightPlans it felt really big to me. Just fly from the east to west, it took a long time.

    Istanbul was Constantinople
    Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night
    Every gal in Constantinople
    Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you've a date in Constantinople
    She'll be waiting in Istanbul
Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way . Ynow I had to sing this song right ??
