They didn’t even separate the character creator between male and female. It’s all mixed up. We reached a point where having something considered as male or female is offensive. I want to get off of this planet.
i'm genuinely bummed. had high hopes for this iteration - fingers crossed asobo (or the modders) get it on track sooner rather than later. also crossing fingers that you can find a way to make this work for you nick. hopefully patience will pay off 🤞
9:29 KC’s bridges are solid too. I hope the photogrammetry issues are just because of the overload. I usually fly lower than you do so I really want good closeup resolution. I’m really hopeful that these issues work themselves out soon.
This is interesting. Short story. Just built my very first sim. 4080 super / Intel i9 and 3 - 55" screens in 4k. Waited for the CLS-60 and Buttkicker Pro and 7.2 audio in a dedicated theater space is SO enveloping. The sim is totally based on my buddy's Cessna Hawk XP (former Coast Guard owned = Reims Rocket). As a rusty old pilot in real life, this was the answer to owning my own aircraft. HOWEVER, I believe I will wait a bit before doing taking the plunge to 2024. Should be worth the wait. Thanks for the presentation!👍
I am guessing the server and traffic issues are holding back the rest of the sim which is now all steamed from servers. I think a lot of the promised increase in geometry is not yet making an appearance along with the grass and tree details. I am expecting it to be a month or two before we get to see what this new sim has to offer. Remember, it took us 6 months with 2020 before we got a splash screen !
Hello my friend good to see you. Thank you for your honesty. I really want to purchase this, but I actually want to wait until they get all the bugs out and wait for a good video to come out in VR. Hopefully all the popping in the tiles is because of the servers there’s so many people. Trying to install and get in. Thanks for the video Brother.
I'll be sticking with 2020 until 2024 is fixed and I know that I can use the majority of the hundreds of £££s worth of add ons I was told I would be able to carry over. Frankly, I've only been simming for six months and I'm still genuinely blown away by the quality of 2020 (possibly because the last flight sim I played was probably in the eighties :)). Loving the channel mate 👍
Weird, didn't have any of these issues now Edit: There is a very good chance the assets weren't loading because of the server issues they were having, been playing for hours now and no graphical issues.
Oh, they were in for a rough start. Seeing San Francisco with all the popping... well, that's horrible. The photogrammetry and scenery looks like it's not loading properly. I sure hope this is temporary and maybe it's because of server issues. I think it will get better eventually, but not a flying start. I'm waiting for a new pc, so I will stick with 2020 for a little while and see how 2024 develops.
I wonder if the extra load on servers is affecting the streaming of the content which is causing a lot of the pop in. I haven’t been able to load in yet lol so looking forward to trying it when there isn’t a queue. Time will tell but we may not be seeing the best texturing yet due to the other technical difficulties.
Someone, please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the scenery was something that was going to be kept in the cloud right? The developers and the CEO made a short video explaining the problems that they're having with the servers and how they're being overloaded, it's essentially the reason why we are having issues getting into the sim. They also mentioned that the servers being overwhelmed is the reason why some of the scenery and other things like planes and helicopters aren't loading properly. So I assume that as soon as the server issues are fixed all these other things will be fixed.
I just flew around Orlando, and Matinicus Island, Maine. I don’t see improvements from 2020. One of my biggest problems was the size of trees. Every city looks WAY overgrown. Bridges are also a problem…. The frame rate is better.
Thanks for the review man. I was really looking forward to it but missed the launch because I was out of town. But now it looks like I didn't miss anything at all. Really disappointing, I was really hoping for a big upgrade here because there sure is a lot of room for that in 2020. This release hardly sounds like even a mild system update to 2020 much less a full independent release.
Welcome back, Captain! I'm flying all the helis around tonight to see how everything feels. Still having a little mapping trouble with some of them, but, well ... they go up and down. Once you get in there, please let me know if you find any spots that look decent enough to post in an inspirational video. I figure there's no turning back at this point, so we might was well make the best of it as they start to wind down 2020. BTW, DO NOT go to Niagara or Victoria Falls. You might just give up on simming entirely, if not life in general.
@@MSFSFlightPlans EEK. That's pretty sad. It's on people like you and me to be "early adopters" for the community but TBH I'm one of those Johnny-come-lately types that wait till the gear is almost obsolete before joining the group. And from what I've seen, there isn't much incentive for me to rethink that philosophy. 😑
Yeah, if you don't have a reason to be flying in 2024 at this point ... I wouldn't. So far, it is just barely functional and the scenery, as you have seen, is abysmal. I don't know what some of these other guys are talking about who are just raving about how amazing everything looks. Maybe they just never looked out the window in 2020. There are a couple of bright spots, however. I've noticed most of the terrain stretching has disappeared and something about the AI has actually made it look like real rocks and cliffs. The default buildings look much better, and the lighting and weather is also an upgrade. Walking around on the ground is fun and novel, but this is a dang flight simulator ... how often are we going to be strolling around on the ground?
@@MSFSFlightPlans You know, it's an interesting point that could be argued. "Realism" CAN be a pain TBH. When Mr D is prepping to leave, I walk around with him and he goes through the whole procedure -- checking oil levels, integrity of the ship, lock wire and coupling paint markers intact, all links tight and functional, etc. In fact I just watched a video today of an R44 trying to take off whose pilot didn't do a walk around -- not only was the helicopter strapped down, he tried to lift it and couldn't so he FORCED it, broke the strap, and crashed. So it's definitely a thing. But the thing is if you're going to put it in the sim as "procedure" then you have to throw some "easter eggs" in there for the player to "catch" and correct, otherwise it becomes just as meaningless a procedure as testing the console idiot lights that NEVER malfunction. There has to be SOME time when they do so you can at least call for repair or something. One time with Mr D we spooled up to go do a job and his generator light came on. He wisely chose to scuttle the mission -- it turned out there was a malfunction with an engine compartment switchbox that did not switch off the starter -- he would have burned it out and possibly started a fire if he'd ignored it and just went on with the warning light on. Those things are serious and shouldn't be ignored, but they NEVER go off in the sim unless you specifically tell it to malfunction within a certain amount of time, which isn't really the way things happen. You SHOULD be forced to flame out and auto rotate on occasion. Those things DO happen. If they're going to put the "walk around" in the sim, then man, make it meaningful so it actually teaches you something.
Not only that, but don't tell me you haven't had at least one innocent fantasy about Mr. D becoming incapacitated and you needing to take the controls. You gotta be ready for that kind of thing, right?
I wonder if the pop in and low res textures has something to do just with the overloaded servers. I saw some late night streamers flying around at random POI's with super high res textures and insane looking trees. Also in theory with the rolling cache next time you fly back over the city it could be fully rendered without any pop in?? Hoping everything gets sorted out within the next couple weeks (as far as server issues are concerned)
The sim looked better when I was flying late last night vs when I flew early afternoon. Definitely some server overload going on. The streaming idea was cool... but is it sustainable with 15 million people trying to play?
AI autogen at ground level or close will replace the Chucky Cheese Trees. You can expect bizarre tree placement, until they roll out MSFS 2028 for $300.
So frustrating. I might install 2024 just so I can get controls and other things set up, but for the time being from what I'm seeing on your and other videos is that with the bugs and the scenery issues I'll prob be continuing to fly mostly in 2020 for the time being while keeping track of how 2024 hopefully improves. My suggestion is to take a pole among your discord channel, who are your core audience, and ask if they care if you stay with doing flights showing the best of 2020 or if they want you to move to 24. Maybe loyal to neither and showing whichever looks better? I love your videos, their visuals, and the fact that the flight plans are less than an hour. If the "latest and greatest" doesn't provide then stay with what works. As for community flights? Selfishly I hope you stay with 2020 for now until 24 gets better sorted.
I'm going to give it a couple of weeks and see how things progress. By Christmas, we'll all know if it has improved enough to be worth making the full transition. In the meantime, I'm going to give it an honest attempt to impress me. If we can even find a few locations here and there that look cool, maybe that will keep us engaged as the modders and devs catch up. In the end, we're all going ot have to move over anyway since 2020 is now officially on its death march ... and it will be in Asobo's best interest to kill it off as quick as possible to squeeze everyone into 2024. I really appreciate you taking the time to leave the comment!
Great video man, but terrible, terrible release for the simulator. They could have done much better. This whole new cloud game I think is going to be a huge problem for the scenery going forward.
what i love about your videos over other you tubers your honest I'm shocked how bad this all is been trying to get on been stuck on 97 for 12 hours think i might get a refund
Thanks for the video. I was just able to install and do a quick flight at my local airport earlier this morning. I will say that it doesn't look better than 2020. As for 2020, you do you. If you feel like you want to make a few more videos with 2020 content, those of us who enjoy your videos will continue to watch and enjoy. Heck, I've even thought of submitting my part of the world for consideration for a video. I'm here in Winchester, VA which is about an hour west of Washington DC and there is plenty of history around us dating back to George Washington and plenty of civil war era stuff as well between Front Royal, Strasburg, Middletown, and Winchester. Anyway, thanks again for your channel and the effort you put into it.
RW PPL/IGI blah blah. The scenery seems less saturated. A bit more like XP, which I use for instruction. Anyone notice this? Someone please fly the Longitude. I use it exclusively on VATSIM. Is it working? 3 monitors for training? Is multi mon working? Thanks
Sad, sad very disappointing , Will miss your 2020 videos, I thinks there are enough of us that would continue to watch them until 2024 is working as promised, however I think that will be months away.
I would be interested to see how FS2024 looks with bing maps but without the photogrametry (in big cities)... Just to see if the blacksharkAI autogen has improved.
Me too. I'm going to check it out tonight. I spent all last night trying to get all gear mapped over. I really hope Little NavMap will integrate soon, so I can see where I'm going on a more macro scale than the Garmins.
This does not bode well for KHKS, my home airfield. This reminds me of the days when MS promised us wonderful performance in one of their upcoming operating systems, and we got garbage, instead. LOL. I'm just praying they're doing low quality detail, to allow more download/installs to proceed, and maybe it'll improve in a couple of weeks. I was never a fan of "thin client" architecture, anyway. I pay for something, I want all of it in my possession. Thanks for the video, very sorry you had a subpar experience. Sure didn't look like what was shown from the tech demo introductory shindig at Grand Canyon.
Cheers man. Looks like I'm saving my money. 😑 Trees. Make sure you stay away from them. Who cares what they look like. San FRan'. Did they include the tent village?
Helo pilots, scenery flyers could be dissapointed in AI autogen, except in unknown areas. RW pilots should appreciate better model/physics, better airports, signage, and lighting. Better seasons.
I could feel the disappointment in your voice. I'll be sticking with 2020 for a long time yet (all Ultra settings / 55+fps everywhere and good-looking enough).
I think there is more to this than just MSFS 2024, I have 2 gigabit fiber internet and my time in NYC looked miles above yours. I agree your experience looks really really bad, and I am curious what your internet speed is. Edit: Just want to add you shouldn't need multi-Gigabit internet to enjoy the game and if you do that is an issue.
I'm banging down over 800Mb/s, so certainly not slow ... but not blazing at your enviable speed. I would think what I'm bringing in would be sufficient, but it probably has somethign to do with various other bottlenecks along the line. We'll give it some time and see how things shake out.
@ try disabling the option where the sim will try to target a FPS number, the game might be lowering the level of detail lower than your settings. Can’t hurt to try
If you wouldn't mind, can you give me a brief overview of how you integrated that into the sim? It's been so long since I got my TrackIR that I don't recall how I did it. Was it just plug and play?
2020 was never really finished, and they abandoned it to do 2024. Now 2024 will take years of fixing, and what we are left with is a series of sims that are never fully polished. I will not buy 2024 until it goes on sale. So tired of this already.
I've seen many videos of fs2020 that are almost indistinguishable from real life. So far I haven't seen anything that even comes close to that with this sim. Not even the trailer video for 2024 compares to it. I'll give it time, but I think fs2020 is going to be better as far as truly realistic scenery in many areas. I'm defiantly not buy this sim yet.
Well, I already have stopped the game pass I took for one month to try the sim from automatically renewing, too many things to mention but MSFS2024 just doesn't do it for me, looks and feels bad. Maybe some day. back to FS2020 I guess.
Thanks, I will wait a few month. Jeez, VRR looks very bad. The pop in looks worse than MSFS. Wow. It just gets worse as the video progresses. So, they lied about the quality of the streamed DLC. I was already worried; some cities could take multiple GB´s of data when they filled with custom assets and downloading that amount on the fly just is not possible with the wonky servers Asobo provided in MSFS 2020.
Oh the irony... it looks like XP 12 close to ground. That Popping is AI autogen. IMO autogen is a immersion breaker and might not improve with upgrades. We'll see.
Yeah, sorry about that. Nvidia was one step ahead of me and prevented it from being recorded, which is probably ideal for virtually every other type of capture one would execute.
Ya definitely a HUGE disappointment all around from Asobo. For true simmers, there is little value proposition in this one. Especially if you have a wealth of custom content built up for 2020, much of which I’ve found isn’t nearly as backwards compatible as they hoped it would be with 2024. For casuals and arcade players, I can’t even say they have reason to be satisfied. The career mode is tasteless and boring. Many of the missions do not work or are bugged. Pretty much the only positive I’ve seen is the game engine and flight physics performance and realism. But even that, is fairly minimal. I’d be much more disappointed if I had paid for this, and not used gamepass. But I’m just glad I never did.
Microsoft needs to stop skimping on servers if they're going to stream everything. We should have known this was going to be a big flop when people couldn't even download the game for hours. I have over 600 mbps download and the game kept telling me it was too slow. Ran a speed test immediately and hit well over 600 no problem. 2020 Had the same problem with photogrammetry hanging up. Not sure what they'll do but they need to do something, this version is absolutely not what was hyped. Going to be a lot of T'd off people out there.
here what your saying about viewers wanting 2024 videos maybe concentrate on comparison videos in different areas i think a lot off people will be sticking with 2020 for a good while i think ille be getting a refund from ll the videos it looks awful the trailer videos are nothing like the real game
You know, I didn't see any green roads! I know exactly what you're talking about. I feel like color renderings in the cities did look a lot more convincing and consistent than many spots in 2020.
Oh yeah, that was the biggest plus. Performance is miles beyond what we were getting in 2020. If I turned on all the traffic and animations, it would bog down a bit, but getting 40+ FPS in NYC on Ultra settings ... never would have happened in 2020.
I’m staying away from this clown show for a few weeks. I’m on a FIOS connection here and won’t even bother wasting my time with it. Too many bugs even if you do get in. Yet another reason I HATE streaming services.
Hi there,is this how the "new" game is going to be like? Its AWFUL. that popping thing everywhere,so bad,I had a feeling that moving the whole thing to "cloud" would get like this! all that hype for this? I hope they fix this whole stuff, but is Microsoft,so it will be a couple years at best! what a total disappointment!
they basically sold us a stripped down version of 2020 with a career mode. also on series x its worse fps really bad and worse textures loading im definitely not buy it thank god its on gamepass
Someone please take a picture of fake giraffe. I can't wait for fake animals and fake scenery. Who needs to fly? Are there stewardesses in terminals? Do they have mini-skirts? What are their pronouns?
I can't even imgaine the scope of the design process for something like this. But I am sure the shortcomings on the scenery front were not missed as they were leading up to launch. I can only guess they either accepted the fact that it would be inferior to 2020 and hoped enough people wouldn't care, or they figured it would be cleaned up after launch. If it's the latter, they should have stated it on the front end to buffer expectations and let everyone know it will improve. So far, nobody seems to have noticed it in RUclips land, so maybe I'm the only one who looks at the ground this much?
I haven’t seen anyone say anything good about the Photogrammetry on any other channel. But you seemed to have had way more popping. Maybe GPU/VRAM related? They did increase the specs.
That could be it. I'll be spending the next week tweaking everything to see how much I can milk out of this thing. And, I should ephasize, this might be perfectly acceptable for the average simmer who doesn't spend all their time staring at the ground. It just puts us in a pickle as far as the channel goes since, at this point, 2020 is far superior for spotting realistic looking points of interest. I just can't understand how it wouldn't at least look as good as what we had before, which is why I suspect it may have been an intentional downgrade in the amount of data the program will require for streaming and loading.
It is at least good to see that you managed to get in and fly. It is now 0845 here and so far I have managed to get in once but had no avatar and no aircraft. Watching the intro video again now 😢
2020 is still the champ because I can use it when I want to. I don’t have to sit and wait and hope to get into a server.
Right now 20 is definitely better but once things get iron out 24 will be better
Sit back for endless updates between now and 2028... Doh! :/
I was thinking this but as its cloud based won't updates just be pushed to the server? itll just appear as fixed or different one day
Rumor has it, MS and Asobo employees are “stunning” and “brave”
They didn’t even separate the character creator between male and female. It’s all mixed up. We reached a point where having something considered as male or female is offensive. I want to get off of this planet.
Asobo needs fired. They suck. FSX was 100 times better.
I remember when I first saw MFS 2020, WOW!!, no wows with 2024, think I will stay with 2020
i'm genuinely bummed. had high hopes for this iteration - fingers crossed asobo (or the modders) get it on track sooner rather than later. also crossing fingers that you can find a way to make this work for you nick. hopefully patience will pay off 🤞
Is the popping getting better when you fly the same area again due to rolling cache?
Thanks for the video and your honest opinion, let us all hope the devs get this sim working as advertised.

The servers a clearly bogged, no use coming to conclusions on how it 'looks' till after its sorted.
Good news is you can just make a 2020 video and call it 2024. Literally no one will be able to tell a difference
RW PPL/IGI blah blah. The scenery seems less saturated. A bit more like XP, which I use for instruction. Anyone notice this? Someone please fly the Longitude. I use it exclusively on VATSIM. Is it working? 3 monitors for training? Is multi mon working? Thanks
Some improvements but 2020 looking more polished, especially with aircraft models.
The stutter make me stay with 2020 🕳
Let's wait until the servers are working properly. Fingers crossed that everything is looking bad just because of bad connections. 🤞
Why wait? They decided to launch it when they launched it. It should work as intended. To hell with the damn wait...
Asobo one step forward and two back as always
😑
Trees. Make sure you stay away from them. Who cares what they look like.
San FRan'. Did they include the tent village?
It is just 202 with some bells and whistles with all the old bugs and lots of new bugs.
2020 currently looks better beyond the lighting.
Helo pilots, scenery flyers could be dissapointed in AI autogen, except in unknown areas. RW pilots should appreciate better model/physics, better airports, signage, and lighting. Better seasons.
The servers a clearly bogged, no use coming to conclusions on how it 'looks' till after its sorted.
I could feel the disappointment in your voice. I'll be sticking with 2020 for a long time yet (all Ultra settings / 55+fps everywhere and good-looking enough).
I’m on the wait bandwagon, wagons hooooo! 😮
Beam Eye Tracker works for me. New to the software so still tweaking it but at least it did function.
If you wouldn't mind, can you give me a brief overview of how you integrated that into the sim? It's been so long since I got my TrackIR that I don't recall how I did it. Was it just plug and play?
@@MSFSFlightPlans, it was plug and play. I didn't have to do anything to get it working in MSFS2024.
2020 was never really finished, and they abandoned it to do 2024. Now 2024 will take years of fixing, and what we are left with is a series of sims that are never fully polished.
I will not buy 2024 until it goes on sale. So tired of this already.
Not quite a glowing review. But the launch has not deserved any better for sure. Hope things improve.
Were all the trailers photoshopped or something
Ive purchased Premium Deluxe, but Im out for now. Its pretty bad honestly. Im going to hang in 2020 for quite awhile
21 Hours after release still stuck at 97%
I've seen many videos of fs2020 that are almost indistinguishable from real life. So far I haven't seen anything that even comes close to that with this sim. Not even the trailer video for 2024 compares to it. I'll give it time, but I think fs2020 is going to be better as far as truly realistic scenery in many areas. I'm defiantly not buy this sim yet.
Graphics are horrible in MSFS 2024, I agree.
I agree there is no big difference in scenery. Maybe water is better.
We'll see.
Sadly we can't see the fps counter
Yeah, sorry about that. Nvidia was one step ahead of me and prevented it from being recorded, which is probably ideal for virtually every other type of capture one would execute.
Elon caught a rocket from space! I built a damn 4090 pc for this game. WTF
Think I'll stick with MSFS2020
Visit Lombok, Indonesia. Cool crater lake in Mount Rinjani park
Thank you, will do! I'm making a big list for 2024. Please let me know if you come across anything else worthy of examination.
Going to be a lot of T'd off people out there.
the trees in parts of australia are crazy. its turned places that arent forests into forest. will they fix this???? its such a downgrade
looks horrible in VR too and I have my settings on Ultra.
MSFS2020 it still one ywar ahead of MSFS2024 into "Real flight simulation"
here what your saying about viewers wanting 2024 videos maybe concentrate on comparison videos in different areas i think a lot off people will be sticking with 2020 for a good while i think ille be getting a refund from ll the videos it looks awful the trailer videos are nothing like the real game
For ifr flights no 2024 need it...
Just tell me they fixes green paved roads lol. All local roads were always green tinted in 2020
You know, I didn't see any green roads! I know exactly what you're talking about. I feel like color renderings in the cities did look a lot more convincing and consistent than many spots in 2020.
Now I know my Little RTX 3050 laptop will run 2024 than 2020😂
Oh yeah, that was the biggest plus. Performance is miles beyond what we were getting in 2020. If I turned on all the traffic and animations, it would bog down a bit, but getting 40+ FPS in NYC on Ultra settings ... never would have happened in 2020.
Damned awful! I wonder why there wasn't a Beta test version after the Alpha? Are the release users guinea pigs ... ther Beta testers?
I’m staying away from this clown show for a few weeks. I’m on a FIOS connection here and won’t even bother wasting my time with it. Too many bugs even if you do get in. Yet another reason I HATE streaming services.
Belfast still looks like utter crap. Both airports look terrible.
Why does this have to be a cloud based game
Because you don't have a hard drive that can store petabytes of data.
@andrewjackson5127 so disappointed bro 😪
Someone please take a picture of fake giraffe. I can't wait for fake animals and fake scenery. Who needs to fly? Are there stewardesses in terminals? Do they have mini-skirts? What are their pronouns?
You Loaded 2024 WHOAAA A GOOD ON YOU :) Another Awesome video but as the kids say The scenery be like EW.
@@MSFSFlightPlans wellll thats why I will wait till next summer perhaps and use 2020 as long as possible maybe 24 will go on sale or who knows.
Watching the intro video again now 😢
this looks like piece os s
Is Horribel
Waiting an 1hr to fly in a game , O No thanks, I will stick with 2020 for a while.
There's no water masks again.
