  • We found the Last Secret / Easter Egg in the Witcher 3. There's a strong hint that Ciri survived the Worst Ending in a hidden tapestry weaved by the Crone Weaves during her final moments, before the fight with Geralt.
Special thanks to a viewer by the name of Yaroslav Nikitenko for his immense contribution!
The part where the devs talk about it is towards the end of this stream: / 1537361573

Here's what I don't get. They double the money GOD gives you, they double the money you get for selling Ciri. When, in this game, do you ever need money? I'm sure it's to just rub salt in the wound for making a dumb decision, since you're playing a game for the content in it, not to get a few hundreds runes worth of gold being an asshole. I dunno how others even accept money for the griffin contract in white orchard. It's so incredibly easy to amass funds in this game even if you're just walking around aimlessly, picking flowers, and selling them. And if they indeed made it more apparent that Ciri is alive when you do make obviously stupid choices and chooses to not come back to Geralt, I guess that's maybe what they are doing. Pointing out that making the bad decisions is fucking stupid even with more reward. Anyway, who cares. If Geralt isn't the protag in the Witcher 4, at least I know what the devs look like and where they are... and all that implies.

if that bird is Ciri... it is flying away... so 'The Worst of the Worst Endings' is Ciri defeating the White Frost but then leaving The Witcher World yet again for another multiverse vacation... but this time Ciri is never coming back.
this is why i think that. Ciri has nothing to return to. both Triss and Yen hate and dump Geralt for being unable to choose either one. Geralt sold Ciri off to Emrys. etc. etc. if Ciri went back to live with Triss as a 'lil sister' or with Yen as a 'daughter' and Geralt actually died... both ladies would be sad or bitter or angry at Geralt for dying like that. those feelings would eventually (both are sorceresses and would live for many many years, perhaps even Ciri would too) poison Ciri's relationship(s) with the Sorceress(es).
Ciri would also have to face off with her father Emrys at some point, or whatever form of government/heir the Nilfs chose after her daddy gets assassinated or abdicates or whatever. so, some royalists or some faction would see Ciri as some obstacle or figurehead or something for Nilfgaardian domination or something.
if she goes 'world-hopping' i bet Ciri ends up someplace warm, with beaches, scantily clad boys and girls to frolic with, lots of good food, good sex, and good booze... and she just lays around and indulges herself in all the fun things she didn't get to do due to her 'destiny and lineage etc.' because she's done with all of that. her story is over and she didn't get to live happily ever after. well, except for leaving all her previous cares behind and enjoying herself for the rest of her life.

Head Canon: the white frost emanates from a fissure in a distant world. Throughout the game, your choices are affecting ciris mood and emotions, or rather what she remembers in the final moments of the campaign. These moments are important, because Ciris emotional state affects how she stops the white frost. When ciri goes to the frost, she is setting her elder blood aflame to burn the fissure where the white frost originates from. If Ciri is happy, (i.e good ending), her positive emotions catalyzes her elder blood, burning the white frost without damaging her at all. If you choose the bad ending, Ciri has memories of strife and anger in her final moments, and when she burns the white frost, it consumes her. Thats how I interpreted it.

Her weaving of a tapestry may also mean something like changing fate. In Greek and Norse mythologies (the Nornir in Norse, and the Fates in Greek mythology) are often depicted quite literally weaving fate. When a person's fate is altered or a new chapter in their life is being written. So, Weavess (like come on, weave is even in her name) making a tapestry about Ciri shows that something has indeed been altered in Ciri's life. The sisters in both these mythologies are always three, like the witches themselves; let's be honest, they altered many lives around them. I'm guessing that Weavess is supposed to be Clotho from Greek mythology, the one who spins the tread, Whispess may be Lachesis, the one who dispenses the thread and Brewess might be Atropos, the one who cuts the thread, ending the life of a person. But this last bit is just my little theory. I do strongly believe in the weaving of the tapestry though, the fact that she was still making it, means Ciri's life hasn't ended and that it's left unfinished means that anything can happen now since all the sisters are dead. But... what's sad is that Ciri didn't come back to Geralt. Is she disappointed? Sad?

More importantly to me though, the screencap at 3:48 about the symbolism of swallows. I’ve noticed them more ever since I lost my grandmother over 10 years ago.
What I’m trying to say I guess, is that the world has a funny way of showing us the things we need to see.
I’ve had a few especially rough days lately, but I’ve noticed a swallow flying near me a lot of the time when I’m outside. I hadn’t quite realised there could be a bit more to it than coincidence.
It’s given me a sense of peace, to see that wherever he was going next, he got there safely. Thank you for sharing the info in this video. Much love, and I can’t thank you enough. 💛

5:36 Geralt dying in that ending is an assumption. An assumption I disagree with based on human nature and the nature of living organisms. I would say he grieved with Ciri's amulet as was seen in the game and monsters started surrounding the church... but instead of Geralt just getting slaughtered like a helpless porky pig for mid winters feast he became enraged and went to town on all the monsters and never satiated his appetite for revenge or broke his grief. Grief and fury are kissing cousins when it comes to emotions and a step daughter's death no matter how loved is just not enough to drive someone to just give up. An actual Bloodline child is usually not enough to drive the parent over that edge. If Geralt was suffering from depression his dying would make sense. As a pragmatic individual he was... Nope, makes no sense.
And then the nature of living organisms, they fight to stay alive even if that cat is breathing out rotting corpse breath and hasn't moved in 2 days beyond breathing.. it will still fight like all get out when being garroted with string that's just to put it out of it's misery. Grandma mashed it on the head with a hammer when I noped out of the garroting because the dying and decaying cat fought it... Gran was just savage. Me: "I can't do this"... WHAACK! Hammer time, "there, done" Gran.

I have a few quotes you may find interesting, from the book The Swallow Tower, which I'm currently reading. I've translated from Dutch.
When Ciri is staying with the hermit Vysogota, and is telling of the time she was in the custody of Bonhart, she shows Vysogota her sword (a gnomish /gwyhyr/), which was given to her by Bonhart. She says:
'[...] Look at what is engraved in the blade.'
'An elven mandala,' Vysogota said a little later. He looked up. 'A so-called /blathan caerme/, a garland of fate. The stylized inflorescence of oak, spirea, and broom. The tower in which the lightning strikes is, for the Old Race, a symbol of chaos and destruction... And above the tower...'
'A swallow,' Ciri completed his sentence. 'Zireael. My name.'
Then, the blacksmith Esterhazy, who sells the sword, or rather is the one to actually gift the sword to Ciri, explains:
'I give it to you for free, Bonhart,' he eventually said, toneless. 'As a gift. So that what must be fulfilled may be fulfilled.'
'Thank you,' Bonhart answered, visibly surprised. 'Thank you, Esterhazy. A royal gift, truly royal... I gladly accept it. And I owe you.'
'No, you do not. The sword is for her, not for you. Come here, you girl with your dog collar. Look at the markings engraved on the blade. You, of course, do not understand these markings. But I will explain them to you. Look. The line of fate is tortuous but eventually leads to this tower here. To downfall, to the destruction of existing values, the existing order. And there above that tower, do you see that? A swallow. The symbol of hope. Take this sword. As I said: so that what must be fulfilled may be fulfilled.'
Esterhazy then urges Ciri to take the blade, but Bonhart roughly intervenes, preventing her from drawing the blade. Perhaps out of fear? That would be uncharacteristic of him. But there is a definite sense of foreboding in these final lines.
All in all, it reminds me a lot of the myth of Pandora's box: with the opening of the box, all bad things are released into the world, but also hope. So that humanity may know, no matter how bad things get, it will always get better, in the end. Not that the world of the Witcher lacks bad things, but perhaps it does lack something else: hope.
I'll share more, if I come across anything relevant. It does seem plausible, at least, that this scene inspired the tapestry.

I think this solves the mystery. Hard to find another interpretation for the swallow flying away from the tower.
I don't like that Geralt, the crone and the game deceive us though. They all suggested Ciri's death. Why would the Weavess create such tapestry with her alive?..
But, as other people say, the destiny of the child of the Elder blood should not depend on small decisions of a witcher. This makes sense, and this I like.
It is a bit a pity that one can't probably see this detail unless using a mod to view at the right angle and a large zoom. I bought a 4k monitor and built my PC specially for TW3, but could not see this detail in game (and even on my screenshot). But if one from the community does it, this is still fine!
I am a longtime fan of the Witcher universe and your and other people's videos on that, so it is a great joy and honour for me to be a part of the last game secret finding!

This was a wonderful video that took a lot of investigating into minute details to make, and thank you so much for doing this for us! On a related note (but not at all addressed to this creator, you are so awesome and have always made everyone feel welcome on your page)
I’d like to remind everyone watching this to be kind to one another. I played this game for the first time about 4 years ago, and my initial impression was that Ciri survived the worst ending. Because why would Geralt’s actions have any effect on her ability to defeat the White Frost? This was all about their father-daughter relationship, and whether Ciri determines this world to be one worth living in. As seen before, she could go literally anywhere. So why return? For her family. That was my conclusion based on playing the game and reading the books.
However, when I dared to voice this opinion on online forums years ago, you would struggle to believe the vile and disgusting things people said to me. Some of the ones that have stuck with me are “this is what happens when we let females play games, ever notice that these bitches always have the dumbest takes?” “no one asked also you’re wrong, step into traffic.” Endless “repeal the 19th” jokes, sexual comments, rape jokes, rape threats, death threats and general awful behavior in response to an opinion on a video game.
It’s still mind blowing to me how anyone could justify saying that to a stranger, especially a kid. Watching this video now and seeing everyone celebrating and affirming this interpretation is super validating but also bittersweet. It has me reflecting on how poorly people often behave online, and specifically how people are willing to treat people from different backgrounds as if they don’t matter. Please keep in mind that the person with an opinion that you may think is silly, may one day be proven right. (it happened to me!) Most importantly, please take this as a reminder that no matter what, at the end of the day, it’s fiction. Being kind to other humans is more important than which ending you got.
It would really be fantastic to enter into the era of Witcher 4 with a non-toxic fanbase that is excited to welcome anyone and everyone who loves these games, and is generally civil, no matter how braindead you may think some interpretations are lol. Peace and love, and have a wonderful day 💙

for Witcher4 CDPR will do the exact same thing they did with the opening of W3 and ask you a few questions about how you finished W2.
why you may ask? for the following reasons:
1 some people, total noobs to The Witcher World games... won't have every played W3 so how would a 'PC/GameConsole' scan of your saved games tell W4 which endings you got or which paths you took?
2 if i'm not mistaken ALL the game-saves, DLC, etc. for the new Xbox platform are or will be CLOUD BASED data. so CDPR would have to ask for your permission to access that data for W4 to read it and decide how you ended W3.
3 if you're like me and a member of The PC Master Race (and Letalis) and saved all your W3 data on separate External Hard-Drives (where all my saves are) or uploaded those saves to a Cloud Save... etc. etc. just like an Xbox with their Cloud Saves. then CDPR would have to code W4 to be able to scan your EHD(s) and find those saves. or W4 would REQUIRE you to connect them to your PC and so on.
4 CDPR did NOT make infinite logic tree branch changes between the various paths in W3 due to the few questions W3 asked you about how you played/made choices in W2. there weren't even five changes in the W3 quest/story paths. if you think about HOW MANY PATHS W3 Complete Edition had... Main Game, Heart of Stone, and Blood and Wine... if CDPR in W4 made separate logic tree diagrams for EVERYTHING in W3 Complete Edition? you'd need around an hour-long question and answer session IN-GAME! to ferret out all your choices. THEN CDPR would HAVE to make those different diagrams of the paths in W4 individually tailored to EACH OF THOSE PATHS you chose in W3. that would mean basically? W4 would have around 100 versions! no game studio is EVER going to be able to finish that project EVER!

Maby they reveal it now because it is actually important for the next Witcher Game and Ciri will be part of it. In this way they could make that happen without choosing one of the endigs to be canon becouse Ciri even survives the worst ending. And by the way I don’t believe that Geralt dies in the worst ending as well, because he can tell Regis that Ciri would be dead in Blod and Wine.

The question will be: Where do we look for her? Where does she fly to after escaping from the tower?

I really like that; thinking Ciri survived by was so hurt by Geralt's attitude she just never returned. I'll never get the worst ending again but it's amazing from a story telling standpoint.
    You really are amazing man.

Tbh, i preffer the idea that she dies if you get the bad ending. And if you wanna know why, i think it makes it way more emotional.
The fact that Ciri can't leave the frozen world because her memories with you were painfull? That's really sad, and makes it different than just letting her live everytime, also being of big consequence...

I think Ciri not dying is even sadder. That means she voluntarily chose not to return to Geralt.

It may very well be the final secret even if the devs never confirm it. It will maintain the uncertainty all the way up to the potential appearance from Ciri in the next Witcher game.

That's great! It's actually important to the story as well and not just a small detail. And you even managed to add the Sell Ciri scene in a way that adds to what you're explaining XD
