Much as I like Black Pegasus he comes from a Hip-Hop/Rap background, and in that genre, lyrics are everything. I've seen it on many reactor channels. If they came from that genre they have to have lyrics, have to understand them, and have to over analyse them. Those of us who came from a rock/blues background like the lyrics of course but it's more important to have great melodies and riffs and instrumentation. Not that Rap fans don't like good tunes too just that the priorities are switched to lyrics and story first, everything else second.

The lie was upheld by Stewart's camp until 2012 when it was corrected in his autobiography. The soccer story was believed so much that there are dozens of websites addressing the topic. That's probably how the story made it in the documentary I saw.

He was looking for a mentor and she turned into a lover. It's a song that to me has always been the "Should I break up with her or not?" type of song. He's torn. He wrote this song as a teen. Iconic song. Have seen him many, many times live--with the Faces and solo. The tingles I feel when the entire audience sings this song with little prompting. Proves music is universal. Re, his longevity, he has always prioritized his health--he LOVES his soccer. Very fit guy. He admits to being vain about his hair--he does that himself--for fans, it is one of his endearing quirks.
His early solo work is amazing. I have always counted the 'Tom Dowd' period as a low point. (the disco period). He and Ron Wood (woody) were part of Jeff Beck's early group the Small Faces. Woody and Rod have been friends since forever. Jeff and Rod had a complicated relationship. Rod always loved the man. I have marveled that so small a country produced so many superlative musicians, singers, composers. Woody published a book in recent years based on his diaries from back in the day.

His first love affair was with an older woman and he wrote this song about that experience. He was 16, she was grown woman that he met at a music festival.

In his memoir Rod: The Autobiography, Stewart provided details of the experience that led to this song. Wrote Stewart: "At 16, I went to the Beaulieu Jazz Festival in the New Forest. I'd snuck in with some mates via an overflow sewage pipe. And there on a secluded patch of grass, I lost my not-remotely-prized virginity with an older (and larger) woman who'd come on to me very strongly in the beer tent. How much older, I can't tell you - but old enough to be highly disappointed by the brevity of the experience."

Rod Stewart was a stud back in the day. Hit after hit and the women all loved him. Dude was married to supermodel Rachel Hunter. Very distinctive voice and the girls definitely reacted. If you haven't checked it out yet, put "Do You Think I'm Sevy?" on your list.

It’s great to hear his voice from the 70’s, cuz it really hasn’t changed much. Actually became more seasoned, he did a song with Sting & Bryan Adam’s for the 3 musketeers movie. Now there’s a video watch and react too, 3 great rockers who have aged well but stayed humble.

"The morning light really shows your age" Yes, she is an older woman. The story is about a college Freshman who is still living at home. He meets an older woman and has a summer time fling with her. Now he has woken up one morning and is trying to decide what he is going to do with his life, because the world doesn't look the same to him anymore.

Rod Stewart was always oozing raw sex. Just his angle. His voice and his delivery was and still is unique. I always loved his music, and he's a hell of a showman.

And have to say my 2nd Dad due to the influence he had on me in my teenage years RIP John
