I just love your channel and your energy. I broke up with my bf of 5 years on Thanksgiving day and I'm starting my next chapter. I've decided to make the transition to van life, and I'm looking at ford transit connects like yours! Thanks for being such a valuable resource.
I Laura I just watched a video interview with Kathy Lee Gifford. She said something I thought was really profound She said she knew she had to start over after the death of her husband making new memories before the old ones killed her. The end of a relationship is like a death. Good luck starting over making new and even more wonderful memories.
I’ve decided on this Ford Connect from this channel also. Since I will mainly be using it for regular driving I like it’s the size of a car and can park anywhere plus good gas mileage.
Yes, I know I did when I first started out. It’s crazy what goes through your mind and what you think it is like-until you are actually in it😛 and then it’s really not so scary.
I’m always glad when someone reminds others to be respectful of where and when it is ok to overnight - and also do it as respectfully as you do. Thank you for the information you share.
Thank you Kim. It seems like it would be common courtesy, but I have been in situations where people are unusually loud and seem to forget that others are around😜
👋💃🐞Dee 🚗 Thank you for sharing your knowledge & the journey your on ! ❤️ Your videos! So informative & helpful! Great video 👍🤗 Be safe/Be Happy/ I'll see you on the next video Dee 🙂
Hi Dee, thank you for this informative video! I hadn't known about the apps on this subject and yes, very important to be respectful of others and the sleepover areas. Last year I drove from Reno NV to Michigan in my van along 40 and stayed over night at Love's truck stops and rest areas. I felt very safe.🦋
Yep! I feel so safe at those stops. Glad you now have the apps. They are helpful when you don’t see things that are obvious. And some of the places are amazing 🤩
Hello Dee it is for all of those reasons I make part of my farmland available to travellers whether they are cyclists, motorcyclists, vans etc and for sure I’ve had some objectionable campers leaving mess, smouldering fires, emptying their poo buckets everywhere, draining my rain tanks but these, generally, are few and far between.
Bless you and it is such a shame that some people don’t have any respect for themselves or others. Maybe a sign of pack it in pack it out, but morons can’t read. Thank you for your generosity. God bless..
When going to public land please remind people to check beforehand about fire restrictions. This is extremely important and they’re there for a reason. You don’t want to cause a wildfire. People like me that live in the mountains will appreciate it, aside from the fact that there are hefty fines and sometimes jail time.
Thanks Dee. That was really helpful. I’m just getting started in this lifestyle. In the process of building out my van without giving much thought to where I would stay on the road. Great info.
Hi Dee. While I have seen many videos on the subject, you often have tips I learn from. You are the only person who had a tip about cutting up your garbage which is a tremendous help. I do that at home now and find I am now limited by weight before I have to dump my garbage and recycling. Keep up the great work!
Your journey is so inspirational to me thank you so much for taking the time to make this content.... And by the way you look happier than ever, a bright light!
Hey! So glad you told me how to find you out here in YT land LOL. Thanks for popping over to Patreon. Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures too.
Where ever you decide to stay make sure you have a backup location. Sometimes you get there and it's too loud, unsafe, etc. Heck, I've gone to some locations and the place didn't even exist. Either shut down and fenced off years ago or simply was never a place you could stay. One time I stayed at a place and loved it. Came back a year later and it was under water. P.S. Cracker Barrel has a very nice place to stay also. They even have a parking lot just for it. They are usually right off the highway as well. Not only is it easy to get to but it is usually far from residential areas where troublemakers might hang out. Also, if a Walmart has a no overnight parking sign you can still ask. I've had a few that let me stay. Just make sure you speak to the night manager. I usually flag down their security guy also and let them know.
Do you have any idea how much you've helped me and many others? Your videos have given me ideas and answered so many questions, as I get ready for vanlife. And you always do it with a smile. Thank you sweet lady.
Enjoyed this video as I do all you post! I look forward to Saturday evenings knowing you will have uploaded something. It’s like looking forward to a scheduled chat with a friend.

Hi Dee ❤️ I haven’t found my way to full time travel yet. I imagine my choice to live in my van full time those months ago factors in to why I cant stop thinking about walking away from my business and actually doing this thing. So many questions yet. Hi Dee. When I was in Northern California (San Jose?) in April the Walmart was a no go. Security told me to move. I parked over night at a Best Buy next door. When I was here (Southern Illinois) in the Summer I was parked at the Walmart for about a week- no problem (there were other rigs there) and I was staying here at the house. I stayed my first time at a Cracker Barrel when I was in Kentucky in September. I may get a van to replace my Class C within the next year! Thanks for the great info! 💖 Red

Great Video! Sure is great to have these resources to find free spots to camp! I hadn’t heard of “Free Roam” will have to check that one out! BLM Land = 👍
Remember, if you can’t find anything……you can park in a hospital parking lot or deck. It may cost you a couple of dollars but you know people are always coming and going and there is always security here.
Hey Dee 🤗 u can mootch dock at mine anytime haha. Thanks for this video even though I’m not on the road yet…I have all the apps now . Thanks so much for sharing 🙏🏼😊💫💗
I know you stressed overnight parking, but it is probably a good idea to remind people that when parking in a parking lot of a store you should leave first thing in the morning and not come back until late evening if you need to park there again. Don’t wear out your welcome.
Hey Dee, I know you have a million comments and questions so I don't know if you'll be able to get to this one but I'll ask just in case...I think you touched on this before; I know how to stay warm when it's cold but how do you stay cool on very hot days? Like sleeping when you're in the south and it's like eighty or ninety degrees and humid? I've seen little air conditioner gadgets on amazon but other than a fan, any thoughts?.....
Here’s an early video I did about that (VAN LIFE | 10 Tips for Staying Cool in a Van! ruclips.net/video/VgaNI2KM_a0/видео.html). Another thing that has inadvertently helped with staying cool is my added deck. It creates a shade where air passes underneath, so my roof stays cooler. If it is ever unbearably hot I move locations or go to higher altitude if I can. If I can’t move, I do the opposite of what I do in winter and turn on the air conditioner for a while to take the humidity out.
Thank you for that, I learned a few things! What do you think is the most physically demanding part of #vanlife other than driving? I’m planning on asking everyone, in different types of rigs, to help me decide for sure what I’m getting. As I am a woman of a certain age and weakness, I am curious if there are things I won’t be strong enough to do.
Hmmmm🤔 Get several smaller water jugs instead of one big one for your water storage. And just be mindful of your limitations as you put things together. You know better than anyone what you are able to do and not do☺️
This is not related to your video in any way (which is very well done and helpful!) but you have lovely hair! Shiny and pretty. Do you have any trouble keeping it up whilst on the road?
Awww thank you. I do not have too much trouble keeping it up. One of the reasons I keep it long is that it is easier to manage for me this way. I do not wash my hair every day either. And when I’m feeling the need for good hair care, I treat myself to a salon! ☺️
I love your videos & would like your advice, please! I currently have a big class b van, gotten just before COVID. This summer, after 3 trips, realize that it is too big & too complicated for me. The transit connect looks perfect, except that it is not 4-wheel drive. Have you found yours to be safe in snow & in handling mountain roads & backcountry conditions? Thanks so much!
Thank you! The transit connect has front wheel drive which is one of the reasons I got it. Front wheel drive is next best thing to 4 wheel drive. Handles great in snow, sand, etc. Hope that helps ☺️

I know you stressed overnight parking, but it is probably a good idea to remind people that when parking in a parking lot of a store you should leave first thing in the morning and not come back until late evening if you need to park there again. Don’t wear out your welcome.
Good suggestion!
If I can’t move, I do the opposite of what I do in winter and turn on the air conditioner for a while to take the humidity out.
have any examples sleeping in a city, i would like to visit the library or museums' stay a few days thank you, in a ford econoline van
You know better than anyone what you are able to do and not do☺️
Love your work Love your videos and Love you..,.. Damn you on fire
Thank you Danny! Woohoo🎉🥳🔥🐞🚗♥️
Nice video thanks.☺
You are very welcome☺️
This is not related to your video in any way (which is very well done and helpful!) but you have lovely hair! Shiny and pretty. Do you have any trouble keeping it up whilst on the road?
Awww thank you. I do not have too much trouble keeping it up. One of the reasons I keep it long is that it is easier to manage for me this way. I do not wash my hair every day either. And when I’m feeling the need for good hair care, I treat myself to a salon! ☺️
@@LadyBugout Nice! That's encouraging. I may want to do this someday myself. :D
@@LadyBugout Thank you! Happy travels!
I have my paper & pencil to take notes! 🤓
😂oh no…hope you got something of use😛
@@LadyBugout If course I did!!! Thank you for sharing the information!! 💞
