I was expecting him to be listed. Hes been potting points while leading in hits in the league.. he should have been the reason for this video in the first place
Habs really miss him. He was a steady piece that settled down their defense. Now they have 5 defensemen 23 and under and they have been terrible in their own zone
Honorable Mention to Justin (Costco) Kirkland. One of the best feel good stories in the NHL (survived car crash) and has done pretty decent as a versatile fourth liner and is a fan favourite in Calgary for league min.
Johnathan Kovacevic has been really impressive so far on the Devils as well. There's a good chance he comes back down to earth but him and Jonas Siegenthaler have been absolutely phenomenal defensively so far, and he provides a little offense time to time.
Glad he’s doing well in NJ, he wasn’t appreciated enough in MTL … people often forget the “defense” part of the word defenseman and prefers flashy or hard hitting d-men.
Heard the same story with Campbell, Samsonov and Murray. It’s only been 9 games. I’ll reserve judgement till the end of the year on Stolarz, although, I will admit he has been great to start the year.
It is one thing to be a solid back-up which Stolarz clearly is but it is whole different story when you have to be the #1. He is about the only thing that is really going well in Toronto right now.
Outside view here. Hawks fan. None of the other guys were good coming to Toronto samsonov was coming off his worst year same with Murray and Campbell wasn’t even really a full time nhler he was a fringe guy stolarz has been an elite backup for years
Samsonov statistically had an excellent first season in Toronto. The difference I see with him and Stolarz is Samsonov was erratic in net where Stolarz plays very sound positionally. Campbell was never the issue, it was the team in front of him. Defensively in the playoffs was sub par and the offence was dry. At the end of the day, hoping the best for Stolarz and yes, the jury is still out.
Matt Murray (the ex-Pens), never really had bad stats, he just got too many injuries at once that he spends his time on LT-NR on some team since the last time he went between the posts, and thus hasn't declared he has retired, but it's pretty much the case, like for Carey Price. Samsonov is doing fine where he is now 🤷♂
Originally expected to provide just some veteran depth, Ryan Suter on the Blues is solidly in their top-4 and has been good both defensively and offensively, especially with Nick Leddy and Phillip Broberg out for significant time. I don't know if he'll have the endurance to keep playing as much, or as well, throughout the season, but so far he's been a huge reason the Blues are still hovering just above .500.
You had a goalie that was feeling like "finally, Philly seems to have found a stable #1 goalie, which only lasts for a few seasons and suddenly they either start to suck, get injured a lot (Ray Emery), suddenly disappear after not being re-offered a contract after carrying the team to the playoffs (Cechmanek). It looked like Hart was finally gonna be a stable, real deal #1, annnnd....chances are he's a creepy gangrap***. Team hasn't had a really stable goalie since Ron Hextall's second time with Philly it seems like sometimes.
I'll add Sherwood from the Canucks. Most hits in the league. Pops off with timely goals and is a force on that third line only for 1.6 × 2 years. I fucking love him
Warren Foegele has been quietly having a very solid start to the season for the LA Kings. A lot of forechecking and effective play that doesn’t necessarily translate to the stat sheet as well.
Yeah, Gaudette's on fire, I'll agree with that. Likely because he's a Sens and Americans (I'm not sure but I think this channel is owned by an American) tend to ignore the Sens unless it was those seasons with Hasek in goals where they made it to the SC finals.
@@OhNyquist well i just got home so i will see when i finish watching the video, honestly not sure which one you would have included goalies do fly pretty under the radar so i would use you included sherwood
though now seeing stolarz or however you spell it on here i think its lankinen since he is our #1 goalie rn until demmer gets back and he is playing very good. Edit: its probably sherwood still so that is my final prediction. Edit 2: after seeing another goalie i change it back to lankinen lol. Final Edit: it was lankinen so i was right but i have changed my guess to many times now.
Something must have happend with Walman in Detroit, because there`s no sense in a cap dump with a 2nd for him. SJS doesn`t care anyway, their cap table is ruined with buyouts and retained salary and the contracts of Couture and Vlasic till 26/27 season is over. For them Walman was a freeby and so far worked out well.
The list is good. Also worth mentioning I would add: Adam Gaudette Age: 28 Position: C/RW GP G A P Plus/Minus 11 6 1 7 +5 Signed as UFA for 775K for 1 year.
If Aliaksei Protas’ play continues as it has on the Capitals he is going to make his contract he signed (3.375x5) look like one of the biggest steals the Caps have managed as of late, and I think multiple players on the Caps could be on this list. Even PLD with his contract, the value Washington gave up for him (their overpaid goalie they lost faithbin) to the return so far is insane
SO against this years Bruins seems not to be a crazy achievement tbh. Can't score on PP, can't score on even strength (only 4th line seems to be able to), can't score on PK because they get scored on.
Ghost has been very good, but Jack Roslovic has become a surprising scoring machine. 9 goals so far and a team that looks even better than the last few years.
Lankinen and Stolarz have both been excellent so far. Maybe just my opinion but I don't think Vancouver or Toronto is playing anywhere near their best hockey yet either so both teams owe their goalies a lot of the credit for having a decent start to the season.
I know that it is not a off season pickup but a resign, but I need to mention it... Martin Nečas is playing crazy good hockey and he is productive as hell so far and I love to see it as a Czech fan!
One that hasn't made this list for the obvious reason that he hasn't played a single game yet, is Patrik Laine. I mean, the rest of the trade was Montreal giving Jordan Harris for a second rounder, which in itself is a good trade; Laine was basically given away or stolen (depends which way you see it) to Montreal. But hey, in all fairness to the spirit of that video, that doesn't count, I'm well aware 😅
Regarding Detroit, at least talbot has proven his worth in the NHL and that experience is valuable to Lyons as well as the whole team which is still pretty young. Now they really need one veteran defenseman to get that group in the same mindset and Detroit might start turning heads in the next year or two in a positive way. Just a shame they gave away two of them that they already had at a young age.
Broberg is wrong in that list. He had a great start, agree. But 4,6m is a lot, and it is a small sample size for a guy that had struggled with injuries before. It`s a lot of money and STL took a gamble.
Honorable mention should go to Kiefer Sherwood, he's been really good and I think has blown most expectations out of the water so far this season.
Agree.
so real
Agree2
So real2
I was expecting him to be listed. Hes been potting points while leading in hits in the league.. he should have been the reason for this video in the first place
Sherwood and Lankinen 🔥🔥🔥
Jonathan Kovacevic has been nutty in a pair with Jonas Siegenthaler. And they only traded a 4th for him.
If only the Jets had someone like him and not Logan Stanley. If only….
Habs really miss him. He was a steady piece that settled down their defense. Now they have 5 defensemen 23 and under and they have been terrible in their own zone

Yo Future considerations is doing pretty good too can’t believe you forgot him

How is the Hockey Gaud not on this list Gaudette has been lights out for Ottawas 4th line leads the league in goals per 60 so far this season
I see the thumbnail and think, man, my Flyers could use a couple of guys like them. What's that you say? We had them earlier in their careers? Crap.
I'm glad to see Kevin Lankonen make the list. I remember him from his days in Chicago & I'd thought that he'd make a very decent goalie
Adam Gaudette has been very good
Lankinen is playing very well for us right now
How is Adam Gaudette not on this list?

Just saw title of video i predict sherwood and lankinen are in this video
1/2 not bad!
@@OhNyquist well i just got home so i will see when i finish watching the video, honestly not sure which one you would have included goalies do fly pretty under the radar so i would use you included sherwood

If the guy was smart who made this video he would of added Sherwood but guess he doesn't know shit
Great to see Pearson doing well 👏
Great Video, as usual, Nyquist. Good List
Something must have happend with Walman in Detroit, because there`s no sense in a cap dump with a 2nd for him. SJS doesn`t care anyway, their cap table is ruined with buyouts and retained salary and the contracts of Couture and Vlasic till 26/27 season is over.

Also gotta say Ryan Donato has been snubbed imo
11GP 7 Goals, 2 Assists for 9 Points, one of the best that not many thought would be of any note.
He was on the Blackhawks last season!
Panther fans miss you, Stoli! Toronto, care to trade him back and take Spencer Knight off our hands? Yeah, I didn't think so. 😢
Jack Roslovic needs to be on this list. Signed a 1 year contract for 2.8 Mill and he is leading the Carolina Hurricans with 9 goals in 12 games.
Nice bro, you think sens making playoffs? Love the content
I think they will, appreciate the support!
I really hope so. Especially if Buffalo doesn’t.
Adam Gaudette with the senators playing on the 4th line is on fire
The list is good. Also worth mentioning I would add:
Adam Gaudette
Age: 28
Position: C/RW
GP G A P Plus/Minus
11 6 1 7 +5
Signed as UFA for 775K for 1 year.
Jason Zucker would be good if you made a part 2.

2 former Flyers in the thumbnail has me feeling proud and depressed at the same time

I was at the game when broberg got injured and my heart hurt dropped
Dude I was at the broberg and Holloway games, I need to stop going I guess
@ thank god holloway is fine
Great to see Stolie and Patch being the first two names on this list.
Regarding Detroit, at least talbot has proven his worth in the NHL and that experience is valuable to Lyons as well as the whole team which is still pretty young.

Jack Roslovic with 9 goals through and 1 assist through 12 games for the Canes.
Shoutout to the GaudFather Adam Gaudette 6 goals in 12 games in OTT bottom six not a big deal.
Sherwood has been a great fit for Vancouver too ! Homeboy might break the hits record
Eric Comrie didn’t lose a game this season
7:00 Walman seemed unpopular by team mates
Honorable mention should go to Jason Zucker of Buffalo.
Take a shot everytime Toronto runs a goalie they didn't plan to use, he does well till he gets overused.
Relatively small sample size. I wouldn't be surprised if half these guys fall off considerably by season's end.
Stolarz is a stud. A proven winner. Good goaltending.
Although maybe not a steal OEL has been the Leafs best Dman this season.
Wallmen being healthy scratched while Ferraro and Rutta continue to be defensive black holes makes me want to puke.
Agreed Wallman has been the best d man for the sharks and it’s not even close
Stolarz has been underrated for years
The music in the background is being picked up by your mic
Mark kestellic bruins from Ottawa
LA should've kept Can Talbot
Leafs are sure a force to be reckoned
Stolarz has better save percentage thank shesty Buf showed him his place
Where is gaudette .. like for real ....
Logan Thompson has not lost a game.
Jack roslovic 9 goals in 12 games
Stolarz💪
Jason Zucker?
Ryan McLeod?
Adam gaudette erasure
Cole Keopke
Paul Cotter
Gaudette
Last

What about Adam Gaudette for Ottawa? Again your Toronto centric coverage is skewed
