I build cars but have never thought bout servicing my lawn mower sheeeeesh thanks for this very informative and broken down in simplified form.. I’m gonna service mine tomorrow
Down to earth basic advice on how to make your mower last for years. Might have included to run out the gas in the carburetor at the end of the season. Great video!
Thank you for the video, my grandfather has had his lawn mower for 25 years, he never changed the oil or spark plug since it was new, so today for the first time in its life, I changed the spark plug and oil and boy the oil smelt so bad I almost puked, and the spark plug was so fouled I was surprised it had been running all of these years, so I put a new plug in and I changed the oil with 10w30 even though it recommended sae 30, and boy does it sound so much better lol, I even sharpened the blade and made it balance and it cuts so much smoother
I already know all of this, but damn, really well made video and it is capable of gripping my 15 second attention span for longer than normal! It was very enjoyable
So great!! I was just given a new lawn mower (after my old one was stolen out of my shed) and I want to tune it up and make sure everything works. Thank you!!
Thanks Gary! And thanks for commenting - it's another key metric in the RUclips algorithm - YT rewards vids with lots of comments with wider distribution.
Hi, the lawnmower was turned on its wrong side with the oil inlet uppermost to clean the undersurface. This caused oil to come out of the air filter. The lawnmower now won’t start. Someone suggested emptying the oil out of the machine and pouring petrol down the exhaust in an effort to try and clear out the remains oil. Is this right? Thank you
Learned a lot within 3 minutes of this video. One question though: would you use 5W30 Synthetic instead of SAE30 oil for this lawnmower. Thanks for your help in the matter.
akbaxb165 The service data sticker on the side of the mower ( 0:19 ) says 30W and I always go with the manufacturers recommended fluids and fuels for any machine.

Great tip!
You have given me the confidence to give it a try, what's the worse that can happen when smoking the grass
Wait, what were we talking about?
Loved the mower repair one! While I have done the work myself beforehand, I never thought to file the end of the blade to balance it. Thanks!
Glad I could help! Thanks for commenting! (and happy fishing!)

Is that with muffler side down or up? When you tip it on its side?

If it looks the same.

Thanks for watching! Don't forget to share with your friends!
Why does the carburetor need to be pointed up when tipping to the side?
Otherwise the fuel spills out.
Hi. I have a murray fwd 22" mower that the self powered stopped. Model 153003. The manual shows zero how to fix it. Any help?
Sorry I'm not familiar with that brand

Messy but probably effective. I would use compressed air and/or brake clean.
Made a hundred bucks plus parts for two mowers last week in my neighborhood :))))
Something to do with your alias, Wrongmower?
Lol, kinda sorta
