Its called blip,it's usually automated in most modern supercars when you downshift,its used to sincronize the revs with the wheel speed ,that benefits the grip of the car a little bit in curve,but that won't slow or stop your car better in a public road so better use it only on private tracks if your objetive is to get better lap times.
love your room setup, was watching you drive and saw the gear indicator and racing buttons, then i noticed the racing dash then i saw the 8 inch screen for telemetery. you must be really into this game. i love it tooo. was trying to open a dedicated server for this mod but it seems quite complicated to do

No ,you need to quick accelerate and downshift basically at low rpm,almost when the abs starts to kick,or the tires begin to slide,depending on the vehicle of course,do not downshift and rev the motor too much,that will cause the wheels spin a bit ,therefore not be sincronized with the motor revs,its better to downshift and blip on low rpm to be safe or you will loose grip.
this is done to rev up the engine and the engine brake doesn't block the rear tires. so the car won't slide around and you can control it much better. i don't know how hard the engine brake in rfactor is because i also hit the accelerator at downshifting but in live for speed you can clearly notice that if you drive about 50 kph in a rwd car and shift into first gear.

Just releasing the clutch after a downshift causes the blocking rear tires. You have to match the revs with the clutch so you can safely release the clutch, having your RPM "ready" for first gear. If you just release the clutch, the RPMs suddenly go up and you spin out.

this sim still one of the best! too bad about rfactor 2 and raceroom racing experience!....they could both be great but all this bete testing lark is complicating it just a little ..with everyone having a different opinion! why not just bring out a full game like rfactor 1 and the gtr titles!! i think that this is the perfect time for a different company to jump in and steal the light with a fully optimised finished sim!
