After dancing Country Two Steps for few years, I still find these basics helpful. I keep coming back watch them over and over. Too bad there are no local teachers teach this way. Thank you so much for all your dance videos. You have done a tremendous job helping the dance community.
This is the best instruction I have seen on learning 2-step turns. I have trouble with them and this video really helps. There used to be lessons here in West Texas but they ended with COVID. Even then they teaching wasn't as good as this video. Thank you so much.
We are so happy we can help! Turn are my specialty and I am rally glad we can help make them make more sense! danceonline.lpages.co/ There may be some topics here that can help!
Very nice lesson. I do with teachers would provide a little more explanation on the "leading" ques that tell their partner what they are trying to do. I tend to provide the ques late and the entire movement is then behind. Never mind....he got to it at about 16:35. Excellent!
I've never had two step explained this way, thank you! I was taught a specific way where I went to college, and no one anywhere else could two step with me (it was because I was taught quick quick slow-tap slow-tap, and I guess it threw my partners off).
That is what is called texas two step which is done slightly differently in different areas. I am really glad we could clear up and confusion you had and now you can dance with partners! You can find more two step videos on www.socialdanceonline.com
You start the lesson as i do, walking with your partner. I add one thing. I have the follower place her left hand on they leaders right shoulder and tell her to maintain that distance by keeping a slight amount of pressure on his shoulder. This give her a sense of how much pressure is needed to maintain a good frame. I stress to her to not let him close that space. It works.
Hi folks. If I could find a partner at90+years of age we could do this dance practice. How I wish , but chances are slim ,so I will watch this video if case at some time I will be lucky enough to find a partner. Thank you for this video. LK from Canada. ❤❤😊
I've wanted to work on the 2-Step dance for a long time, but something has also driven me nuts about it. Quick-Quick Slow--Slow. 1-and 2and--3and. The 2-Step, in and of itself, is based on 3 beats per measure of music. Aren't most country-western songs going to be 2 or 4 beats per measure? It's like you have to dissociate yourself from the music, because the leading step of each cycle of steps will fall on a different beat of the music in each measure. I enjoy dancing WITH the music. Whats the solution... Is it in the music, or the way I should perform the dance?
Great comment - it's a common frustration. You're right... it doesn't fit neatly to the music like a dance like Cha Cha or Salsa do. There are 2 ways you'll hear people count two step. Here's one version:1,2,3,5. Step 1, Step 2, Step 3 (hold 4) Step 5 (hold 6) Here's our version: 1,&, 2,3. Step 1, Step &, Step 2, Step 3. Neither are 4 beats that fit into 4 beats of music neatly. West Coast Swing has the same struggle. My teaching experience says that if you focus on the quicks and slows that seems to be the best for most people to learn. As we get better and level up we can start to add extra turns and syncopations to start to accent the music. I know that's not a simple answer but hopefully you understand that it's not you 🙂
The two-step I know are four beats per measure, which is nearly all two-step country music (slow, slow, quick, quick; 1, 2, 3, 4). Or do I have it all wrong? When I was dancing, I was able to stay in step with the music using this counting method. 😊😊
Two step in different regions and states can be different like texas two step is more of a shuffle, so i assume that arizona two step may be similar. This style of two step is more widely known vs state by state two steps. If you like this style we have a lot more videos on our site. westcoastswingonline.uscreen.io/categories/two-step
I am not sure what you mean by our feet don't match our quicks and slows. However you can start with a quick quick or a slow slow, you can also count if that is easier for you. The leader will have 4 walks forward and the follower will have 4 walks backward. These walk will have 2 quicker steps that are 1 count each and 2 slow steps that are 2 counts each. I hope you find instruction that is helpful for you! If you ever have any questions head over to our site www.socialdanceonline.com and email us!
@@SocialDanceOnline Never heard of the 4 walks before. "2 quicker steps that are 1 count each and 2 slow steps that are 2 counts each" That equals 6 counts. 2 Two step patterns is equal to 3 measures of music. Each quick is 1 count, and each slow is 2 counts so that's: Quick, quick, slow, slow = 1 2, 3 (4), 5 (6). Quick, quick, slow, slow = | 1 2, 3 (4) | 5 (6), 1 2, | 3 (4) 5 (6) | = 2 patterns in 3 measures, no 4 walks possible.

We tell followers to stay connected to the hand on their back. 😊
Great video! At 22:22 aren’t you letting go of the right hand instead of the left hand? Thanks.
Lol yep right hand 😉

I never understood how the follower knows what to do when I decide to do something
Through connection and which way you move your partner. 😊
Two step
Two Step or 2-Step. RUclips likes it both ways :-)

4:12
6:18
For better understanding I’d like to see whole pattern in the beginning of a video and then educational process, otherwise people have to rewind
Most of the time we show the pattern up front in our videos. We must have deviated from our norm. 🤷♀️😊
Too difficult to follow as a newbie. The quick quick slow slow seem to never match their feet! Ugh
