    Part 3 of the build from my Basic Armour Modelling series, this time we tackle the Tamiya 1/35 Churchill MK.VII, this tank is an older model from Tamiya, originally dating from 1970s, this kit was re-boxed in 1996 with some crew figures and a French farmer. The tracks were also improved in this later release allowing them to be glued rather than joining with heat.
    This part takes you through the figure painting, small base constructions and completing the weathering.

    Isn't it funny how the Churchill has sort of become fashionable again having spent years being much maligned! I grew up in the 60s and 70s and practically all British tanks of WW2 were dismissed or mocked... These days the Churchill seems to be almost admired, in retrospect! :) Excellent series of videos, thank you.

    Really enjoyed this pal. Literally about to build my first two models (well, I mean since the 1980s) for my YT channel Kit Build comp and the Churchill is first up before I ruin a 1970s Lee Grant from 254th Indian Tank Brigade. I have the fear, but slightly less having watched the first of your playlist.....

    All the textures of grass, weeds, gravel, rocks are available from model railroad shops. You can find materials to make ponds, cliffs, almost any kind of diorama as well as tools of all kinds including most of the ones you haven't thought of yet. You can also get free advice on how to use them. All the best from Canada.

    Outstanding, lovely build sir!I am currently doing a (Thunder) Scammell Transporter, but need a tank! It was either a General Grant, Sherman, or a Churchill. The Tamiya Churchill at £26 was fave, but thought I would look for a build . Your film has decided me!

    I'm just getting back into model making after a break of at least 40 years and I have stumbled across this any other great videos. One thing is puzzling me is that all the tools and equipment are affixed to the tanks and painted afterwards, why is it that noone appears to paint these items separately and them glue them to the tank, which I assume would be easier

    Hi Jason, you mention that you planning to build a modern tank. Can I suggest that do one of the Hobby Boss 84523 1/35 IDF Merkava Mk IV With Trophy Brand New. I've got it on my Ebay list of to do. It looks a really excellent kit.

    Citadel are the best for figures! I didn't believe it when was told so tried out curiosity and waw they really are! The brush on perfect and don't pickup the paint again after going back over the same bit or leave the plastic showing and a fine layer of paint with a couple of thicker brush strokes you get from Tamyia or vallejo!

    • @themilitarumpainter
      @themilitarumpainter 3 года назад

      You're painting wrong then. If you look at any figure modeller such as warhammer, even though citadel is popular, most miniature painters use a variety of paints from different brands. Vallejo is by no means worse than citadel, and on select paints is better

      @@themilitarumpainter I've never used them I just think the war hammer guys big it up tbh! But I like my vallejo and AK paints I just got 2 sets of flesh set one vallejo and one life colour set the selection in the vallejo is like double to the life colour and the tones are not great from life colour! Theee a different breed of paint if you know what i mean lol just don't like faces like vallejo and AK sets!

    Good videos and nice work overall, Jason! But has anyone ever told you that you obviously used the wrong product with your static grass applicator? That wasn't static grass, but either Woodland Scenics Fine Turf or some other kind of flock. The static of the applicator has no impact on that kind of product whatsoever! It is not even been meant to be used in an electric device of any kind - only just with a sieve. That is why you didn't get any "static" results in your diorama. I don't want to rain on your parade, I simply wanted to let the other viewers know 😀

  • @TheNordus
    @TheNordus 3 года назад +3

    If you'd used the glass as the bottom layer of your diorama, the clay couldn't warp the base and it won't crack while drying. To clarify, you don't need to disassemble the picture frame. Just mask off the frame and start building your diorama on top of the glass.

    It would have been a bit better if the wagon had some straw in it to lay the bottles on. Left to lay against metal or hard wood they would have broken on the rough road.

    What is the point of fixing the styrofoam and then covering it all with Das clay? Why not cover the whole base with Das clay? Makes no sense to me, but I am just beginning, so probably thick as shit!!!

    • @ChampionScaleModelling
      @ChampionScaleModelling  3 года назад +1

      The styrofoam builds up the contours of the groundwork, the clay just gives it a realistic appearance. It would be very difficult to build the level up with just clay, it would also take an age to dry
